The weekend has arrived. As the days went by, Lázzaro went to the company three times in just four hours, gave his orders, checked on how things were going, and returned home to his daily solitude. After what happened with Lia, he didn't want to see her anymore because he came to the unfortunate conclusion that he was also in love with her. However, from that day on, a sudden passion for movies began, he watched them non-stop in his spare time.
Sometimes, when he passed by the door of her room, he heard her soft and sweet voice humming unknown songs softly, he also smelled her scent that set his entire male body on fire and made him hard.
The young woman's routine was not so different. She started an unexpected friendship with Magdalena and was already very attached, every day she would go to the kitchen and keep her company and even help with some meals that would be destined for Lazzaro.
The rest of the time she was reading books in her room since hers didn't have a huge TV like next door.
- Hey! — Lia reached the kitchen where the housekeeper was.
“Hi, I was thinking about you just now. - the lady said smiling.
- And even? Need me to do something? she asked spontaneously, so happy to help.
Magdalena smiled more and more enchanted every day. If she had a daughter, she would definitely want her to be just like Miss Lia.
“I was thinking of going to the book festival in the town square later today. I intend to buy more cookbooks, do you want to come with me? he invited, offering her a piece of iced cake.
- Of course! Thank God you invited me, I couldn't stand to stay here doing nothing anymore. — Lia arrived smiling at the invitation and took the slice of cake from the plate, tasting it afterwards.
— We're leaving at two o'clock, I want to go for a walk. Do you mind? - informed putting some treats on a tray.
- No problem! Thank you for inviting me! — she jumped twice and hugged the lady who was rigid for a few seconds but then hugged back.
“Magdalena! the voice shouted entering the kitchen. It was Nadia.
"What is it, Nadia?" the woman asked.
“Today is not my day to put clothes in the dryer and iron.
- And yes. Yesterday it was you, but during the week I did it twice instead of you.
“I need to go out today. I will not do your job. he exclaimed.
“Mag, save that for another day. — Lia looked at the blonde — Don't talk to her like that, didn't you have the education to treat someone more experienced than you like that? — The girl defended her.
— I'm not talking to Señora Bartholomeu. He smirked.
— But from today, Magdalena will only be in charge of the kitchen and reception of the house. The rest is up to you and if I see you lacking in respect for her, I'll make a point of talking to Lázzaro about his resignation. All good? - In a formal tone she pronounced the words with complete elegance.
Nadia huffed, biting herself with hate, she swore to herself that it wouldn't stay like that.
"Thank you daughter, but I didn't have to." Mag took Lia's hand.
“I did. How long have you been working here? She's the oldest, Lázzaro told me. So no one has the right to disrespect anyone here, least of all you. — the woman received a look so affectionate that she wanted to cry and hug the girl, but she didn't.
“You're the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Leah smiled. It sounded like her mother talking to her, it made her emotional.
"I'll get ready to go." He broke the mood and went upstairs.
When he was reaching the top, his eyes met Lazzaro's eyes. The man was exuberant, wearing a blue outfit that highlighted his masculinity and glasses that made his frowning face extremely sexy. Lia lost her breath and felt her veins heat up with the blood circulating too fast, a moisture accumulating in the thin cloth between her legs.
I missed you so much. Even knowing all along that he was there, so close, it was painful to remember how he'd pushed her away and asked her not to go near him again. Her heart ached but she worried about him.
- Hey. - She pronounced very softly afraid of his answer or reaction.
- Hey. His heart was beating very fast. His gaze locked on her intensely.
- Are you well? Did you have more fever? — for some unknown reason, she really wanted to cry.
— I'm fine, I don't have a fever anymore. —he wanted to keep away and her being sweet to him even after being treated rudely only made him more flustered and confused about her.
He wanted her, but he couldn't do this to her.
She doesn't exist... How can she be so good? It was the man's main question.
"That's good... I-I'm happy." She shook her head and smiled at him.
Ah, that smile could bring down a man as strong and proud as Lazzaro.
— Don't smile at me like that... — he stammered not wanting her to hear, however she heard.
- I'm sorry. she whispered and walked into the bedroom.
Her heart skipping painfully as she finally let out a ragged breath. Nothing had happened, but that simple nothing managed to shake them up like never before.
He pushed Lazzaro out of his head with difficulty and got ready. She took a long shower, fixed her hair and changed into casual clothes.
Lia constantly wanted to be seen by Lázzaro, she wanted to receive a compliment from him, so she had the idea of knocking on the bedroom door, thinking over and over whether it was really a good idea, and before she could call, Magdalena shouted her name.
- I'm on my way. She hurried away from the door and went downstairs.
- You look beautiful! the woman said smiling.
"Thanks Mag." You are also beautiful.
The two were walking and talking about everything, so they quickly arrived at the square.
Lia looked at everything around her with admiration, everything was very happy and beautiful. Lots of food, fruit and even more book stalls, in front of each stall there was the name of the literary genre along with all the people addicted to reading commenting and buying books.
There were also some people dressed in a social manner, near a more elegant tent than the others that sold legal books.
“I'm going to the recipe stall. Feel free to take a look around. - Magdalena said and walked away.
Lia started walking looking curiously at everything, she received some looks from men and also from women but she didn't care. Until someone came up behind her, giving her a big scare.
- You came. Hayden's voice made her turn.
"Stop scaring me!" she said angrily.
"Are you always distracted?" Because it's not the first time I've "scared" you. - he laughed - I thought you wouldn't come...
Then she remembered that he had asked her to go out with him exactly to a book fair.
"No, I didn't come to meet you, I came with Magdalena." she explained pulling away from him.
“You don't have to lie, Lia. You might want to go out with me and that's fine. Or married people can't have friends?
—Yes, they can, but I really came with Magdalena.
- Right. Want to buy a book? —stopped in front of a stall with classic books.
- No. In Lázzaro's house there are many books, of all kinds.
- What a shame. But they are not yours. They are his.
- I don't mind.
“Where is he?”
- I don't know.
"I thought he would be here with you."
- But it's not.
“Oh, I think you are. Look at him over there. He pointed to a group talking about business.
"I didn't know he was coming…" she murmured.
— I see that the marriage is not going well. he scoffed.
“You know what, Hayden? I'm tired of it. Stop bugging me and getting behind me, whatever it is you're wanting, you're not going to get it because I'm not some stupid, naive girl. If you want to know anything about your "brother" go to him, shit! She was very, very angry, but not all of that irritation was Hayden's fault.
“Hey, calm down. Let's see if there's a stall around here that sells a sense of humor. he joked.
"See if there's one that sells a sense of the ridiculous." she returned and walked over to a bench to sit down.
“I promise I won't talk about Lazzaro anymore. Can I stay close to you? - He asked.
“No, Hayden. It cannot. Leave me, please! she asked in a tearful voice.
- You are crying? But I didn't even do anything else, I was just kidding. — he was genuinely concerned.
At that moment, he didn't want to go through with his mother's plan, which was to find out everything about Lazzaro lately and also about the repeat marriage. What wasn't part of the plan was Hayden's feelings for Lia.
"Don't you realize I don't want to be around you?" You shouldn't insist if someone kicks you out and mistreats you! Where's your self love, Hayden? — she was very sad all of a sudden.
“Look, I like you and I don't have a bit of pride. I can chase you all over this fair even if I'm snubbed. She cried some more.
“Hayden, I don't want you to keep talking to me, your voice really annoys me and I don't trust you. she exclaimed, wiping away her tears.
She realized that she was being very mean to him, just as Lazzaro had been to her. If he really liked her, he would feel the same way, and Lia knew better than anyone how that day hurt.
- All good. He lowered his head.
Lázzaro saw Magdalena walking in some direction from afar, when his eyes found Lia beside Hayden, he felt an automatic anger grow inside his body, he asked the men for permission, walking quickly towards them.
"What are you doing here with him?" - the voice trying to sound calm.
She jumped from her seat with a happy heart to see him close by. But sad that it is not reciprocated.
“She—” Hayden started but was cut off.
"Shut the fuck up because I'm talking to that one." — that one?
- It's none of your business! —she answered already tired of rudeness without reasons — Shall we go, Mag? She looked at the lady who was oblivious to everything.
Walking without taking any notice of the two, they walked away.
"The worst part is that I don't even have anywhere to go..." he cried softly.
He looked at the lady beside him and had a conception.
"Mag, could I live with you?" I promise I won't do any work. I sleep on the floor, clean the house, cook and stay in extreme silence to pretend I'm not even there. - begged.
- But how so? You don't want to live with your husband anymore?
“We're not really married and that's not news to anyone. Lázzaro doesn't like me and I just don't want to bother him anymore. But if you don't want to, I'll go outside.
- Road?! No way girl. You can live with me yes. Just don't say anything to him.
- He is well.
Hours later, Lia had already finished packing her things, it was almost time for Magdalena to leave, as they had agreed earlier. I was so sad that I could hardly think of anything.
It was better to leave, he wasn't doing any good in that house and he had already helped with Lazzaro's problem, but first he had to talk to him to set him free in every way.
The divorce.
