THINGS WITH JEAN
While Marie had so many things going on at home, Jean on the other end was trying to somehow adjust to her dad’s lifestyle. Jean found it weird for him to get a new chick home every single day. This was not only when she was in the hostel, but it also happened when she was at home, and that was something she was never very happy about.
Just like the other day, her dad brought home a chick who was only a couple of years older than his own daughter, Jean. She was such a good-looking female whose beauty, body movements and dressing sense were enough to sow the seed of insecurity and also a little jealousy in Jean’s mind. Those feelings for her had nothing to do with that her dad had a date, but rather it was all about that some random girl was keeping Jean’s dad away from her.
Seeing her father happy made her feel good for him, but all that jazz only deprived her of his love and attention. Also, he spent more time with random chicks for self-satisfaction which deprived his own daughter of her father’s time. Certain things which she wanted to talk to him about without feeling sorry for wasting his time just could not happen.
Even with her mom, the situations were pretty much the same. She had moved to the other side of the city after the divorce, and that made it very difficult for Jean to be able to spend quality time with her as well. Jean’s mother was also not very welcoming of her and did not fight to spend time with her either.
Both of them, Jean’s mom and dad, were very busy living their own lives. In fact, they were too occupied otherwise to be able to pay proper attention to their daughter, which had been affecting Jean’s life drastically. That could be one of the reasons that Jean pretended to be like her father more as she stayed with him. Because she couldn't talk to him about her feelings because he was never available for her at home, she wanted to be like her dad, and maybe that could be why she found girls attractive.
While she noticed all the girls that her dad used to bring home, her observation stopped being confined to the clothes they wore, their shoes, their make-up, and their hairstyle. She started observing the way they talked, the way they moved their body, their figure, so on and so forth which obviously distracted her from the acceptable course of action as per the way her family lived. Also, her dad almost never sat to discuss certain issues in their culture with her, which also kept her away from being told important things by him as well.
Despite all the drawbacks, Jean was pretty much sorted by herself. To say that she was perfect would not be right, but she was the best that she could be with the weird circumstances her life put her in. She did not let anything affect her negatively, and she learnt things on her own. She had her own desires to live the perfect kind of life without taking into consideration the tough life which she had.
One thing was very clear in her mind that she did not want any short-term relationships because she had suffered enough and dealt with the consequences of her parents' divorce. Whatever may have come in her life, she expected it to be long-term and forever. Which was why she was dreaming about a whole life with Marie just the same way Marie had started building castles in the air.
The whole day Jean kept herself busy as she watched every sitcom which used to be playing on TV. She did not even open her books at all. She either watched TV or spent the day on her phone. The new trend which she had adopted was downloading new games and playing them or chatting with her friends. Marie did not reply much to Jean’s messages because of her step-mom being around in the house, which is why Jean talked to as many friends as she could to pass her time without being bored.
In spite of the fact that she wanted to talk to Marie more than they were talking, Jean maintained patience within her and did not let any negative thought about Marie take over her. She did want to talk to Marie all the time, but she was being very understanding of her situation as well because under no grounds did she ever want to upset her.
After a couple of days went by of the same week when Jean and Marie went to the birthday party of a batchmate, both of them decided to meet each other.
Jean: Marie, I want to see you.
Marie: When and where? Let’s plan it out.
Jean: Anywhere but the park, please.
Marie: Okay, then where will we meet?
Jean: Come home.
Marie: I don’t know.
Jean: We will have fun; watch a movie in my room and spend time together.
Marie: I will have to ask my parents.
Jean: Let me know once you do, but do it soon.
Marie: Yes.
Jean: Okay, take care.
Just after having this chat with Marie, Jean started to organize her room to make it look as if it was a boy’s room. Not that her room was any less, but now she wanted it to be more like it because she wanted to do her best to show Marie that she was not less than any guy. That was because she knew that Marie was a typical girl, and it was important for her to win Marie’s heart just the right way.
Amid their friendship, both of them did not realize when everything started to get so serious. They had started talking to each other without any intention of being together, but their life had different plans. Not only did they start to develop feelings for one another, but they also started dreaming of living a life together without considering all the odds.
Even though the other one did not know the plans which they had in mind, but the two girls were pretty positive about everything to do with them. Maybe they were not that aware of the repercussions and things were looking very beautiful to them at the moment. Jean was trying her best to be liked and accepted by Marie a little more than being just a friend to her. Little did she know that Marie was already taking her in a much different sense.
The wait was until they confessed their feelings to each other. Because only once they do that, things would either start taking the desired shape for the two, or they would be pulled back and made to understand that their society in the particular country that they were living in did not recognize same-sex love. Despite the fact that the world was advancing so much, their relationship would not be taken lightly by anyone they knew.
Jean spent the whole day imagining the things she would do with Marie whenever she came home. She was more excited about having a lot of privacy at her home than they had in the park as she would be home alone with only her servants as her dad would be on an official trip as he had mentioned to her.
