Chapter 14 Became The New CEO
When Aurora woke up the next morning, she was alone in the room.
After she went downstairs, she she found her husband Silas playing Jenga with Ulani. In this game, Silas and Ulani had to take turns pulling out blocks, one at a time, until the towers collapsed.
"Mummy, do you want to join us?" Ulani asked after a game was over.
"You play, I'll prepare breakfast." Aurora smiled and refused.
Silas went to work after breakfast.
Near noon, Aurora received a call from Silas's mother, Noyes. Noyes invited them to have a meal in the near future, and Aurora agreed.
Two days later, Saturday.
Silas didn't have to go to work the day, and the family of three went to Silas's parents' house.
Silas' father was not at home at this time, and only Silas' mother and servants were at home.
In the afternoon, Aurora chatted with Noyes in the living room.
Noyes asked, "Aura, you and Silas have been married for over three years, haven't you?"
Aurora couldn't guess what Noyes wanted to say. She nodded hesitantly. "Yes, more than three years."
"I think after all these years of marriage, Silas and you have known each other. it's time to think about having a child, what do you think?" Noyes asked.
Aurora was taken aback for a moment. She was about to say that they had Ulani when she heard Noyes say, "Having another child is not a conflict with Ulani. I think Ulani would also love to have a brother or sister, right?"
"I'll think about it carefully." Knowing that it would be difficult to pass without an explanation today, Aurora said embarrassingly.
Just as Silas came in from outside the courtyard, Noyes told Silas the same topic.
Aurora couldn't see from Silas's face what he really thought about it.
"You two are talented and beautiful, and you will have a good-looking child." Noyes reminded Silas, "Put this on the agenda, okay?"
"Got it, Mom," Silas replied calmly.
"By the way, about working for the Padetta Hotel Group, I heard from your father that your thoughts have changed compared to before." Noyes quickly changed the subject.
"Yes, I am already handling the handover of the work at hand. If there is no accident, I will join the group at the beginning of next month." Silas did not hide his plans.
Aurora was a little surprised because it was the first time she had heard of it.
However, considering that the two rarely asked each other about each other's work, it was understandable that Silas didn't mention it. She just didn't know why Silas, who had never been interested in inheriting his father's business, would change his mind.
Time flew, and soon it was early March.
On March 4, Silas officially became CEO of Padetta Group with the support of his father Hobson and several major shareholders.
In the initial period, the outside world was not optimistic about the Padetta Group's move. Some media commented that the Padetta Group's appointment of Silas to the position of CEO was a cronyism approach, which was likely to make the Padetta Group go downhill.
Some media compared Silas with another favorable CEO competitor, Mason Smith. The comparison believed that Mason had worked in the Padetta Group for 10 years and had created a lot of achievements for the group in the past. They thought that Masson would be the best person to be the next CEO of the Padetta Group.
In the eyes of the vast majority of the media that slandered Silas, although Silas was famous in the legal world in the past, it was not easy for a good business lawyer to transform into a good CEO of a large company.
No matter what the outside world was saying, Silas's appointment as Padetta's CEO was a foregone conclusion.
Silas was very busy throughout March, and Ulani said to Aurora in distress: "Mommy, I haven't seen Daddy for many days. I really want to see Daddy now."
Aurora explained patiently: "Your daddy will visit you every night when he comes home, but you are already asleep at that time. Your daddy told me that he will be free to spend with you in a few days."
"I really hope that the day when Daddy is not busy will come sooner. Mommy, do you think so too?" Ulani's tender voice sounded.
Aurora smiled: "You're right."
Aurora subconsciously deleted Gregory's messages from her phone.
For more than a month, Gregory had sent her some messages from time to time, and she had never responded.
Aurora never answered the phone he called too.
Over six years, his phone number had never changed. On the contrary, she changed all her contact information as early as she left Princeton that year. Mobile phone number, email address, mailing address, etc., without exception.
Padetta Group headquarters.
29th floor, large conference room.
Wearing a pair of 3cm high heels, Eloise Highmore distributed the materials needed for the meeting to the participants.
Not long after, there were many whispers in the conference room.
At the very front of the conference table, sat an extremely handsome young man.
This man had a temperament that refused people thousands of miles away, making people unable to see his heart, but this did not damage his charm at all, but made people want to find out more about him.
Eloise subconsciously glanced at the man again.
Silas Francis.
Discussions like this in the conference room had happened several times since the man came.
At first, Eloise still harbored some contempt, and felt that Silas was just a newcomer and was eager to make achievements.
But after working together for a month, she no longer had the original idea.
Facts had repeatedly proved that every decision of Silas was just right, bringing a lot of positive feedback to the group, including performance and reputation.
Didn't you see yesterday that the media who criticized Silas are now praising him?
The meeting lasted nearly an hour.
Not surprisingly, the meeting ended with Silas' decision being agreed upon.
Eloise, as secretary to the CEO, left with Silas after the meeting.
The man in front of her was very tall. Eloise had a net height of 173cm, but even with high heels, she still felt petite standing behind him.
"Eloise, help me prepare two documents, and I will send you the relevant requirements later." Silas said as he left the elevator.
"Yup, got it." Eloise replied.
Silas didn't notice the admiring look Eloise gave him.
He was very busy, and there was still a lot of work to be done today.
There was a business dinner this evening, and Silas drank some wine.
When he returned to the villa, there was a small night light on on the first floor of the villa.
Silas, thinking not to wake Aurora, simply took a shower in the bathroom downstairs.
Being a little hungry, he went to the kitchen after shower.
Silas didn't find any ready-made food in the kitchen, so he planned to cook his own bowl of noodles.
He just filled the pot with water when he heard a sleepy female voice: "Silas?"
Silas turned his head to see Aurora in just a light pajamas behind him.
"Silas, let me cook, you can rest on the sofa first." Aurora took the noodles he had.
Silas put a coat on Aurora while she cook.
It was undeniable that Aurora's cooking skills were indeed very good, even a simple bowl of noodles she could cook very delicious.
Silas ate up his midnight snack, and then he hugged Aurora upstairs.
After brushing his teeth, Silas fell on the bed with his arms around Aurora, kissing and touching Aurora. After a while, Silas pressed half of his body on top of Aurora, buried his head in her neck, and suddenly stopped doing what he wanted.
Aurora gently pushed Silas away, only to find that he had fallen asleep.
How was it now? Aurora did not know whether to laugh or to cry.
It took Aurora some effort to help him adjust to a comfortable sleeping position. No doubt he was really tired!
After Aurora turned off the lights, the man turned over, either intentionally or unintentionally, and one of his arms just lay across Aurora's chest, pressing down on her pair of soft peaks.
Aurora was about to push the man's hand away, but he suddenly murmured as if aware of Aurora's intentions: "Oh come on."
