Fifty-eight
I don't know my body entirely as everyone imagines, the way it behaves in certain situations leaves me very lost and having to deal with that other side, the animal side, often makes me lose control of what I thought I knew . There are few signs that I understand and one of them is my anxiety crisis, a crisis that I always took care of so that no one needed to see it.
I remember that Benjamin was one of the few who witnessed when I ended up losing control. I remember him grabbing my wrists because they moved on their own making my nails dig into my legs.
The feeling I have right now is that I'm going to explode. I don't know what the fuck is going on, but I know I'm like a pressure cooker.
"What took you so long?"
Trembling, icy, until the "mysterious" person appears, causing my feet to feel numb, as if they were chewing on my flesh.
— I'm only thirty minutes late and you — — he stops, stops suddenly.
Like me.
"No, it can't be..."
Atlas and Adam, who arrive now, cannot understand why the two of us are immobilized, while Thomas and Lucian look at us, waiting for a bomb to explode in the middle of the office.
- Finally! -she said trying to break the ice. -Ben-
“What is she doing here? -straight, direct and without an ounce of sensitivity.
- What?
"He didn't say that!"
In that same second without even calculating the consequence of my future actions, I raise my entire frame and slam both my hands on the round table, causing a rumbling sound. The voices fade and panicked looks settle on the faces present. My anxiety attack is replaced by the demon that lived inside me, managing to break one of the bars that I had locked.
"Wh-what is that..."
Luckily my eyes don't reveal the red, much less the white, but the strength, the supernatural strength we vampires had, unfortunately leaks out completely when I throw that punch on the table.
"What the fuck is going on?"
They weren't afraid of Benjamin, or afraid of me, in fact they were terrified of how firmly and severely I hit the table. Beat that no human being is capable of giving.
"Now things are going to heat up!"
— Thomas c - -without letting my sentence finish, the Queen pushes her armchair back towards the exit.
I think a thousand times if I should stop her from going through the door, until the knock of the thick wood shows me that I shouldn't have stopped to evaluate my attitudes.
"Shit!"
— Argh! - he mumbled. -That's why we don't involve women in business!
Without saying a word, Adam drags his stool up from the upholstery. He looks at Lucian with a scornful expression and then leaves the table and walks around to the exit.
“Adam? -it was strange. -Where are you -
Irritated by his possible intentions, I place myself in front of Sir Sartori the minute he passes the King, heading towards the exit. That's where two war tanks hit each other head on, preventing our paths from going forward.
"Where do you think you're going?" - Grit your teeth.
"Get-your-hands-off of me!" -he pauses on each little word as if spelling out his threat.
The human gives a sudden pull on his own arm, getting rid of my hand, his action frees him, but doesn't make me get out of his way, releasing access.
"Let him pass!" - she ordered.
- What? - I can't believe it. -What do you mean "let him through"? - I repeat. -Do you know where he's going?
- Behind her! -he is firm giving the answer right in my face.
"Fuck no!" - denied looking at him like a wild animal.
"Stop!"
"This is not a good time for you to approach her, Benjamin!" she explained. -Let Adam convince you to come back...
- No! I reply with a lump in my throat.
"That wasn't a request, it was an order!" - she remembered.
"They don't even know each other, she would never listen to him!"
"Want to bet I bring her back?" He challenged me once more.
"This guy is asking to be beaten!"
I fill my chest clenching my face and fists. What little patience I had just gone down the drain.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" He stands up, pushing us both away. -Why are you fighting? -he questioned. -It's just a girl, dammit!
"She is his child!" she confessed.
Yes, they know what we are.
They act normally in our presence because they are used to living with us, but they also show contempt, not caring if we are stronger than them or not.
The terms limit, or fear, were not part of the move. Atlas has always been abused, but Adam has always been much worse. He is one of the few who clashes with me, thinking he has a chest of steel. It pissed me off. It annoys me because I never make him tense, or intimidated.
— Oh! - sang as if he had found a chest full of gold. - So that's why...
"I thought you only had three women!"
"You thought wrong!"
"Actually Adam, you thought so right!"
— He has three women, Mila is not his, she's just a calf!
I stare at him with fire in my eyes, containing my dirty mouth.
"It's not what it looks like!"
- Go! she asked. -Bring her back!
With the path still blocked, everyone watches as I hesitate, huffing in rage.
"Benjamin..."
- License! - Said thick passing by me like a tractor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seven minutes later looking for the Queen around the Palace.
— Son of a bitch —
- Hey! -he passes by the door of the bar, witnessing his lack of education.
— Hi... -he replied, taking another sip from the bottle of wishky.
"Is that an Everclear Grain by any chance?"
Mila "Ever what?" - she thought.
Behind the chic counter, she turns the bottle over, trying to see the label as he takes the seat opposite her.
"Yeah..." he sighed. -You two must have a very sinister past for you to be drinking something like that!
"Sorry, but what are you talking about?" she asked, feeling the onset of intoxication.
'This drink is not for the weak, it's like ninety-five percent alcohol!'
- No no! She waved her hand at him like crazy. -That I know, I refer to something else you said!
His lips curl in a shameless grin that reminds her of her security guard's smile.
Mila "Damn. He's half Benjamin and half Piter!"
Soon he rises from the bench, going around the counter until he reaches her.
"Come on, give it to me!" she asked gently, taking the bottle from his hand.
"Y-you..." he blurted out unintentionally. -I-I have to get away from you!
— Honestly... -he wrinkles his forehead and stops to think. -I don't think it's a good idea for us to stay close to each other either!
“W-why?” - stuttered curious in the answer. -Did I scare you in the living room?
"Yes...but...but just a little bit!" -she said smiling, playing with the words.
Mila "Why is he joking, why does he have to be so handsome even making a fool of himself?"
"He... he... that... shit!" - said nothing at all.
Mila was about to spill all her pain in his face.
Someone urgently needs to save him.
“Benjamin? - completed.
- Yes! - he said. -I hate him!
Again, he smiles at her as he answers.
- I doubt!
- What? -She doesn't like to be contradicted.
"You don't hate him, you're just hurt!"
"And how can you be so sure of that?"
- Your eyes! - she pointed.
- My eyes?
"Yes, they glow!" -he spoke. - They glowed when he appeared in the room and they glowed now when he tried to say his name...
"I-I think you're confused by the reflection of the light..."
- He thinks? - he laughs at her. -All is well then!
Footsteps begin to approach the entrance and slightly the Queen turns to see who it is.
- What do you want here?
I don't give a fuck about his question, all I can focus on now is that woman's face, who gives me a deep look when she sees me coming.
— Get out! - I say bringing my eyes to him.
- I will not leave! He walks away from her and I go towards him.
"Okay, I can take you out then!"
"Try it, I'd love to see you try!"
- Please! she asked.
He pulls away, moving his body to the counter where he's positioned himself with his back to me, facing her.
"I can get rid of him." All you have to do is ask!
"It's not possible!"
I throw my head back with an evil laugh, amazed at the shit he just said.
"It's okay, Adam..." she said thoughtfully. -It won't do any good to run away...
He keeps staring at her as if he expects her to change her mind, until he finally understands her request.
— T-okay! He agreed with some hesitation. -Give me your hand! she asked, stretching her arm on the marble.
"What?"
"Is he wanting to die?"
The second she does as he asks, my feet move toward them on their own. When the Queen notices my agitation, her eyes rise to me quickly reproving my steps, that's when her totally unprepared warning takes my legs, making them stop again on the ground.
Luckily for Adam, I couldn't afford to make her angry right now by wasting the opportunity she was giving me.
Maybe this is one of the rare moments I'll be able to approach her without a gun being pointed at me.
"W-what are you going to do?"
He touches her arm, touches it with those thick, rough fingers, sliding over her porcelain skin, until he circles her wrist and clasps her hand in his.
"Is this some punishment, God?"
I know that Mila is married, I know what Thomas has done to her, I know that my nephew is always surrounding her, dying to put his hands on her body, I know very well what men think of doing when they are in her presence . These things, all these desires and dirty thoughts, kill me inside, make me blind, lost. My luck is that over time I learned that there is a big difference between knowing and seeing. See him in person.
The problem with being "present", having to watch, is that it makes everything very suffocating.
Adam might not be taking her clothes off, or touching her like I like to do, but the rage I'm feeling just having to watch her skin be touched by another man causes me to lose all my self-control. This control, which this woman knew how to easily wrest from me.
- Wait! -he takes a pen out of his pocket, pulling the cap with his mouth.
"Who keeps a pen in their back pocket?"
He writes, writes some shit on her palm and then lets go of her wrist.
- Ready! -she said closing the pen. -This is my number, if you need me I want you to call me, okay?
I can't, I can't keep the posture.
