Day 7: Back Home
(Phoenix POV)
On our way back home, I realized that all I needed was right there with me, walking me through every step of the way. I looked at him and my heart swelled at the thought that he was mine forever. I was about to say something when we spoke at the same time.
“I..”
“Babe..”
I giggled and looked at him, “Go ahead,” I said to him
“Well, I was wondering if we could put your wish on hold,” he said, skeptical about my reaction.
“Why?” I had to put on a good show.
“Because last night when you were with Debbie, it got me thinking, we are about to spend the rest of our lives together, there won’t be a need granting wishes when I can obviously do that for years to come as long as you will have me,” he said, looking at me straight in the eye and at that moment, I wondered if he read my mind.
“Are you a mind reader? I had the exact same thought! I know that it was supposed to be a month but I am so glad that this week has been nothing short of amazing. I have you and we are about to get married, so what’s the point in granting a month’s wish when you can do that for years to come,” I said, placing a light kiss of his forehead.
“See, we are really are one. All we need to do is settle this whole Brianna, Lisa and Allen matter once and for all,” I heard him say as I stood up and headed to the room that was attached to the luxurious private plane to sleep.
I plunged myself on the bed and slept off.
Time went by and we were back home. I couldn’t wait to see my baby. The ride home was an anticipating enough and when we reached the garage of our home, I dropped down and rushed into the house and I was indeed glad to see everyone’s faces but I wanted to see just one person at the moment. All their questions and excitement faded when my mother told me that she was asleep in her cot.
I dashed to the nursery and there she was, cuddle up against her toy and sleeping peacefully but the desire in me to carry her outweighed the need for her to sleep and I picked her up and sensing the movement, she opened her eyes and stared at me with those green eyes before she let out a soft giggle and tried to touch my face with her tiny soft palms.
I cooed at her too, “Yes baby, mummy is finally home and didn’t spend a month away from you as planned,” I swaddled her as I moved with her to the sitting room to finally attend to everyone. They all left their duty post to come greet us and were supposed to head back to organize things but as for Denzel, we had a lot to talk about. After everyone left, myself, Sterling and Denzel each sat on the couch in the sitting room as Sterling took Emerald from me and played with her while I opened the door to the conversations.
“So, Denzel, where is Lisa?” I asked, being direct and not wanting to waste any time.
“She is in one of the cells underneath the house,” he responded briskly.
“She doesn’t know who we are yet, right? And she doesn’t know the location of this place, right?” I asked further.
“No, we took all the necessary precautions but you do know that when you start to question her, she will definitely know who you are,” Denzel asked, looking at both Sterling and I.
“I really do not care at this point if she knows we are the one or not because if she dare tell anyone, I won’t hesitate to make sure that everything about them is buried,” Sterling said, still looking at Emerald.
“Let’s go and meet her and get this over with,” we all got up and went to the underground cell which was always fastidiously neat for a cell. She was kept in the same room Brianna was in two weeks ago.
Standing in front of her cell, Sterling spoke up, “Lisa, acre to tell us why you employed Brianna to come to my house and cause havoc,” he said, glaring at her.
Scared as a mouse and as a spoilt brat that she was, she stuttered her next words before putting up a front just to show that she was confident, “Why wouldn’t i? She wrecked the home I was trying to build with Allen, tell me why I shouldn’t wreck hers!” she screamed so loud, I thought I had a headache.
“You speak about me trying to wreck your ‘home’; did you know that Allen and I were still together when I saw him kissing you at his apartment? If anyone is the home wrecker here that should be you because you took what was mine,” I said, slamming the iron bars with my palms and returning the same energy that she gave when we first started the conversation.
“So tell us, is Allen involved in this or not?” Sterling asked, getting impatient with Emerald still in his arms.
“Why should I tell you that? I should rat my man out to you?” Lisa said, suddenly looking at us with disgust as though she was the saint.
“You have no other choice than to tell us, Lisa and please, don’t make me ask twice,” Sterling said in a voice that I could hardly recognize as his. He was definitely pissed of because it concerned Allen whom he hated so much.
“Make me,” Lisa said, riling Sterling the more
“Okay then, I am guessing you won’t have a problem if I wreck your father’s company to the ground and letting you, an entitled, spoilt child rot in abject poverty. I wonder if your precious little boy toy will help you then,” Sterling spat words out venomously and I trusted him enough to carry out his threat. I looked at Lisa and I saw her wall breaking as she weighed her options.
“Lisa, defending Allen won’t do you any good. He is evil. He left me because he thought that I couldn’t get him the fame and attention he needed but who is to say that he won’t leave you when your father’s company crumbles to the ground with no hopes of getting it back up,” I spoke softly to break her wall further.
“How do I know that you are telling the truth?” Lisa asked, her eyes darting back and forth from Sterling to me and then to Denzel who later responded to her.
“Lisa, why do you think everyone fears Sterling Tyrell?” Denzel began to taunt her.
“How would I know?” Lisa said, shifted back and wrapped her arms around her knees.
Denzel moved further towards the iron bars and cleared his throat before speaking, “It is because we have dirt on almost everyone in the business world and your father is no exception; in fact, the dirt on your father could bury your family name without any hope of being resurrected,”
Lisa’s eyes moved back and forth as she thought long and had about what Denzel had said while Sterling and I remained quiet and watched everything.
Denzel continued, “So, I will ask you again, is Allen involved in this?”
“Yes, he is. He told me about everything. About how Phoenix was jealous that he was about to hit it big and that was why she tried to ruin him and his business. He said that she wanted him back but he didn’t want her. He said so many other things and he made me believe him with just the first two reasons alone. I am a jealous woman and I wouldn’t want to share my man with anyone else but I don’t want my family to suffer either,” Lisa said, with tears rolling down her cheeks and the red head woman just couldn’t stop crying.
“You are sure about this,” Denzel asked one more time before looking at us. Lisa nodded her head multiple times and I was afraid that it was going to fall off her head if she continued.
After getting the confirmation and voice recording of her confession, we all left the cell and came up the living room and immediately we got there, Sterling spoke up.
“Denzel, release all the dirt we have on Allen, including the one that has to do with Phoenix; this time, he is going under and so is his business. I want nothing left of his name of business as soon as possible,” he said, walking to the nursery and placing the already sleeping Emerald in her cot before closing the door that led to the nursery.
Within me, I couldn’t believe that everything would soon be over.
“Yeah, I will do that right away,” Denzel said, about to leave when he stopped in his tracks.
“And make sure that if he lawyers up, do well to get the best of our lawyers on the case. This is a battle that I need to win and put that good for nothing riff-raft away for good,” Sterling said before hugging Denzel lightly and releasing him to go get the task done.
When Denzel left, I looked at Sterling and felt loved indeed but matters that needed attention needed to be sorted out and so I brought the topic up.
“Babe, I need you to legally adopt Emerald. I just need to you to get this over with so that we can both have legal custody over her,” I spoke up and looked at his face for an answer.
“Sure thing, we will get that done next week but right now, can we just focus on how to plan our wedding?” he asked and I was surprised at the urgency.
“Have you picked a date yet?” I asked in return
“Yeah, I have and I thought about it long and hard,”
“Okay, what’s the date?”
“The 8th of December,”
When he said the date, I gasped in amazement.
“That is my birthday but why would you do that? And how do you know that? I have never told anyone that before” I asked in total surprise.
“Because you have always wanted a winter wedding,” came his replied and I couldn’t help but engulf him in a hug.
This hunk of a man was always so thoughtful and mindful of me.
