Chapter 84 I got them back
Chapter 84 I got them back
ELIZABETH'S POV
We are all running through the woods, trying to get to my mother and Lyra through all this weather. It's windy and the sky isn't looking too friendly.
"Where is Junior and Daniel?" Andrew shouts.
"They left to look for you and Elle about 10 minutes ago!" Jeremiah answers. "They haven't come back since!"
Obviously.
I stop, facing them and they stop caught of guard. "I'm sure their fine. Can we focus?"
"Why are so anxious? I am sure they won't be mad if their princess is a little late."
"How do you-?" I stop, remembering my mother probably introduced herself with her title. She is still old school. "Anyway, stop questioning me and lets go."
I turn around to continue walking up the stump only to hear Andrew scream my name. He grabs me by the waist, pulling me back causing us both to stumble on the ground as a lightening strikes down right in front of us.
My chest is heaving rapidly as I am in shock. After a good second of realization, I chuckle hitting Andrew on leg as he lays flat on the ground looking up at the sky still in shock.
"That was close." I laugh and look over at Jeremiah to see he's looking at the now burnt spot with wide eyes. I roll my eyes and stand up. "Stop being dramatic and get up!"
I push the bunch of hair out of my face, regretting not putting this mess in one. I don't know how she handle this much fucking hair!
"You're crazy." Jeremiah stated behind.
He's just realizing this? "Thank you." I smile taking that as a compliment.
The sounds of chanting fills my hearing and I quickly run to their direction. I stay at a certain distance as I watch them at work. I can see their both tired, getting drained. I am just hoping it's almost done.
The sound of thunder rumbling distracts me from them and I look up to see lightening splitting the sky in different sections.
"There they are." Jeremiah points over at Junior and Daniel both kneeling on the ground. Andrew and Jeremiah run over to them.
"What happened?"
"The lightening struck down but Daniel was too late and it got him right in the leg." Junior explains.
"Shit. Is it healing?"
"Barely."
"Ok, we need to get him back to the cottage." They agree and help Daniel off the ground. Jeremiah and Junior puts his arms around their shoulders while Daniel hops on his good leg.
"I'm staying with them." Andrew informs before they leave. He starts making his way over to me but the streak of blue light coming his direction, catches my attention. "Andrew!" I run as fast as I could over to him, grabbing him by his shoulder and push him out of the way.
We both end up rolling on top of each other until we are stopped by hitting into a tree.
"Ow!." I wince feeling a sharp splinter sticking me in the back. I try to reach for it but a certain someone's weight is on me. "Do you mind?"
He rolls off of me and stands up lending me a hand. "Thanks." He says.
I sit up taking the splinter out of my back and throw it on the ground. I accept his offer by taking his hand. He immediately wraps me in the blanket I had on before and I smile at him.
"I'm sure she won't mind showing some skin." He gives me a look and I roll my eyes, putting my hands in defeat. "Uh, fine." I tell him and fix it properly around her body.
Our attention is back on my mother and Lyra. "I don't like this." I whisper as I examine my mother's state. She looks drained, ready to pass out.
"I thought you wanted this."
"Not if my mother's life is on the line." I run over to them, frantically looking between them, trying to figure out how I can help. "Mother, let me help!"
She stops for a second and open her eyes. "It's ok. We're almost done." She says out of breath. I stay quiet and take a step back and watch them with fear of something bad happening to them.
I can see Lyra is trying her best to continue but she also looks drained. Her skin is paler than usual and her entire body is shaking. This is too much for them.
I look back up at the sky to see it's becoming more cloudy and the weather is starting to calm down. This must mean their finishing.
I look in their direction with a smile of relief when hearing the chant getting calmer. A good minute later they finally stop. Yes! Now all we have to do is wait.
The smile is immediately wiped off my face as lightening strikes right between Lyra and my mother, sending them flying back in the opposite direction.
"Mother!" I quickly run over to her and I spot Andrew running towards Lyra. "Mother, please don't be-" I stop not wanting to say it out loud. I can't jinx it.
I kneel down next to her to see her eyes are closed and she's not moving. I place my hand over my mouth feeling a cry ready to leave my lips. "No, Mother. Not again."
I slowly place my hand on her face, afraid of bringing any more damage to her. I am surprised when she gasps awake the second I touch her. Not allowing her to get up or even move, I drop my head on her chest and let the tears fall. "I thought I lost you again."
She pushes the hair back, out of my face and says, "It not that easy to get rid of me and definitely not forever." I sniffle lifting my head up and stand up to help her up.
"Did it work?"
"It should have." She winces as she stands up straight and I instantly tell her to sit down. "I'm fine." She said being stubborn.
"No you're not. Where does it hurt?" I ask looking all over her body for any injuries.
She holds my hands, stopping me and say, "I'll be ok, I just need to get some rest." She sighs.
"Ok, lets go now."
"I'm waiting for everyone else."
"I think they'll be fine if you're taking a nap, mother."
"No, they're coming to the land of the living for the first time after 2 centuries, I have to be here to guide them."
"I can-" I stop knowing she won't take my suggestion. Again, old school. I sigh of defeat and say, "Fine."
"Thank you. Where is Lyra?" She asks looking behind me.
"I'm right here." She says as Andrew helps her up. "The spell is officially complete." Lyra confirms.
We all look up at the sky and it's calmer now. No strong wind, no thunder but there are a few light lightening here and there.
Where are you guys?
It's been five minutes of waiting and I am getting impatient, I actually got annoyed after a minute but I stayed silent for my mother. I am about to scream-.
I stop seeing a figure- scratch that, multiply figures emerging from behind the clouds. A spear lands close to my feet and a smile stretches upon my face knowing the specific and exact carvings engraved on it.
Jules.
Not able to handle my excitement I grow out my wings. It hurt a bit but it's nothing I couldn't handle. I immediately lift off the ground and meet them half way. I stay in one spot as I watch them emerge from the clouds one by one.
My family, I got them back.
My mother shortly joins us and flies next to me and watch as everyone forms a circle around us.
Once again, we are reunited.
