REST IN HELL
My bullet missed him. Well, I am not an expert. He just had to bend his knees and move his body on one side just a little, and the bullet went straight past him. His bullet did not hit me either. Well, it seems he has run out of bullets, and from the look of things, he does not have any spare magazines. Nice, I have an advantage because I even have an extra gun. However, I am not that good at shooting, and that has been proven just now. I did not do much more than just point a gun at people to scare them anyway. I look at him, and he hides behind the tree next to him. I now know better than to waste my bullets, so I decide to get closer to him, but he starts running in the opposite direction.
Run, Ejay, as fast and as far as you can, but I will get you. I pick up the pace after him, dodging the trees just like him. "Gia! No! Stop, Gia!" I hear the pleading screams of men and women behind me, but I don't stop. I do not even look back. I keep going because that is what my heart is telling me—to keep going. To chase this monster and make sure I put it where it belongs. To put an end to his evil doings. To put an end to this monster.
Damn! He is so fast! Well, I don't remember participating in any running activities back in school; now I wish I did. This devil would not be outdoing me like I am just crawling, not to mention my heart is pounding so rapidly, and I am breathing like someone who has been running for the past three hours non-stop. I quit running, which resulted in walking, making constant stops to steady my breathing, and gathering more strength because my legs were failing me too. Everything in me is just failing, except my will and determination. I am not giving up, even if I have to spend days in this desert looking for him.
As long as I find him at last, I am willing to do all it takes. But where did that sneaky monster go?
I have been walking round and round this desert for more than an hour now, and there is still no sign of the devil. Where could he be? I keep walking, turning every now and then to make sure he is not somewhere behind me, checking around trees to see whether he is hiding in one of them, but nothing. I am even checking on top of the trees to see if he decided to play ninja games, but there is still no sign of him. I feel tired. I feel angry. I feel frustrated. I feel like I am losing this battle once again to this monster. This can't be happening! This can't be freaking happening!
I concentrated so much on cursing myself that I failed to realize that I was coming towards the end of the small desert. The trees are now behind me, and a medium hill stands in front of me with nothing but dried grass and very few short trees standing. I don't even think; I start my way up. Maybe when I reach it's tip, I will be able to spot Ejay somewhere. I hold on to that hope.
Fingers crossed. Slowly, I push my so-tired body up, looking everywhere to make sure that I am safe, and after about ten minutes of shuffling my legs, I reach its flat tip. And here, I find something so interesting. My heart stops pounding, and it skips a few beats.
Now, now, now! Who do we have here? The monkey himself was standing at the far end of the tip of the hill, right in front of me, at a small distance of about 50 meters. Down the hill, on the side he is looking at, stands a whole battalion of armed police officers and all the girls that we rescued.
Why the hell did they come here? I mean, the girls.
In the front line, I spot my knight in shining armor, Deep, standing like a soldier, a gun pointed up the hill like the rest of the corps. They might have reached here before this monster blocked his escape. You are now cornered, Ejay!
I cock my gun, place the right finger on the trigger, and take slow steps towards the monster. I keep a distance of about ten steps behind him, and only heaven knows how happy I feel right now. "END OF THE ROAD, EJAY!" I say, shocking the hell out of him, and he turns in my direction with a lightening speed.
I love the look of shock and worry on his face. I raise my hand at the corps, keeping my eyes on this monkey, and they very well understand my memo. They drop their guns. "You really are a smart ass bitch! You are a liar and a cunning bitch!" He fires back.
Ooh, hail me! I took all the freaking compliments today. What did he think, huh? That he is the only one with brains to trick people? "I guess those characteristics lie in the Wells blood, don't you concur? Wait, you are not even a real Wells, but I get you inherited them just like you inherited the evil throne!" I challenge him, and he is taken aback.
“What the fuck are you talking about?" He questions. He is super thunderstruck.
"The fuck that your real name is Matthew De’Mario and that you are my adopted cousin is the fuck that I am talking about, Ejay. Or would you prefer, Matthew?" I am trembling, not with fear but with anger.
"Wh…at?" The idiot is even stummering. Oh, my! I so dreamed of this day, Ejay, and you are not disappointing me at all. I anticipated seeing your ugly face smeared with nothing but this shock.
"Yes, you sick bastard! I regained my memory two weeks ago before I came back to you. Does the sound of that ring a bell as to why I came back?" I proudly ask. I said I would let him know all the details of his downfall, and I am not going to deny myself the pleasure.
He laughs sarcastically, like I sound so pathetic. "Not really, but let me guess. To take revenge? Don't make me laugh!" The smile fades, and he puts his crown on. The cold monster looks "Come, on. I am right here; go ahead! Show me what you have got, stupid half-shit cousin. Can you shoot someone? Do you have the courage to pull that trigger? Make sure you don't miss this time, though, because..."
Shut up, you filthy jerk! I pull the trigger without thinking. Arrgh! I meant, wow! Bingo! Fantastic! That was super awesome. He places his hand on the shoulder where the bullet pierced, blood coming out. Is he, like, seriously smiling? He is smiling at a gunwound. Then he is a maniac. He lifts his head, looking at me. He cannot believe I did that.
"Here is another one, Ejay!" I pull the trigger again, hitting the other shoulder, and he staggers back. How dare he dare me? He stands straight, not minding his bleeding wounds.
"Better make sure you finish what you have started, you bitch! Because if I lay my hands on you, I will send you exactly where your useless parents are." My parents? So even my father is dead? And he has the guts to mention them?
“So, you killed my father as well? Where the heck is his body, you jerk?” I ask, tears almost flowing, but I suck them all back. I have cried enough. And his chuckles are something that cannot let me act weak right now.
“You will never know that bloody bitch!” He says.
I see him take a step towards me, and another one. I take one back, dropping the gun a little and shooting him on the leg. That made him groan with pain. "You are never going to hurt me or anyone ever again, Ejay. Someone should have done this a long time ago, but I am honored to do it anyway. Now, if you do not want me to blow your big head right now, turn around and take your walk of defeat down the hill." I order, but he refuses to surrender. He is a real dom, a real don. A real master. He does not bow to anyone. Submission is not in his blood. His evilness seems deeply rooted; I am sure even his seed came from a dangerous place. That is why his evil has no end other than this.
"There is no way I am accepting defeat, especially from a nobody like you. I cannot let that son of a bitch have me alive to rub it on my face how he has always won and had everything that I never had." He spits it out, unable to stand properly.
Deep? Why?
“Why? What did he ever take from you? You simply could not agree to recruit him to your dirty businesses because he is a cleam man. Or is there something else?” I implore.
“I hated it before then. His name makes me go crazy, and I want to ripple his head off every time I hear his name.” He spits furiously. That is so deep.
“Why? Why do you hate him so much?” I ask again. Curiosity is taking the best part of me. What can be driving this monster to be enraged about Deep?
“Well, sorry, but you will have to keep me alive and try to work your tricks on me again to scour the truth out of me. If you kill me, I will die with the secret.
Oh, he is so delusional. He can die with his secret. There is nothing important they could be sharing, though. I take small steps forward. "Very well. Then look at this nobody carefully, Ejay!" This time he obeys, looking at me. "Let it stick in your brain that this nobody, Gia Wilsons, took you down. Remember my face even in the afterlife." I amass all the strength in me and smash his nose with the gun, and he collapses down, blood oozing from his nose. I then grab him by the leg. Sitting down at the edge of the tip of the hill, I push myself down, dragging him down with me.
We are at the base of the hill, and I get up. Nobody is talking to me. They are all aghast, and all they can do is watch as I challenge the powerless monster. "What now, Ejay, huh? You have been defeated so fast. You can't even stand. Where is the invincible and heartless Ejay, who was so feared by everyone? The Ejay who never even blinks when snatching innocent lives? Don't you want to witness your end?" I howl.
He groans, forcing himself up, but the pain is just too much for him. He only manages to kneel, and I think I like that position. It signifies submissiveness. Defeat. He is submitting to his death. "I salute you, Gia. I never would have thought that you, of all people, would be the one to bring me down. Take my bow, accept the golden crown, and give my verdict. But after this, make sure we never meet again, even in the afterlife." He says, struggling between every word.
"You have done every dispicable thing there is in this world. Uncountable murders, rape, and illegal activities, among others, You killed my innocent parents, separated me and my sister, and made me live like a shandow of myself for five months while you made my sister do only God knows what. Your sins are unforgivable, Ejay. Not even jail is enough punishment for a sick monster like you." I point a gun at him. "For the death of my parents, for what you made me and my sister go through, for the lives of these innocent girls that you destroyed, for the people you killed in Kisumu, for the lives you took at the Azzua hotel, for every single life that you took," I cock the gun. "REST IN HELL, EJAY!" I pull the first trigger, and I shut my eyes.
I keep shooting, and shooting, and shooting, until I run out of bullets, and I feel a very familiar feeling of someone's hands holding me. He turns me around in his hands, and I turn, not withholding the tears rolling down my eyes. Before I can look him in the eye to see his reaction, I am swept away by a very strong dizziness. My world and everything in it turn dark, but I am sure God cannot allow me to share the same death date with the monster, right?
