Chapter 3
Have you ever wished, you just got locked in the house with a lot of food, a subscription on Netflix and nothing else but you alone.
No noise, no distractions, nobody but you and yourself?
That was my wish, I was extremely tired, it was damn late and I was hungry. I didn't have an appetite to eat in the evening and now my stomach decided to grumble making sure that my sound was enough to be an alarm.
I walked downstairs to find something in the kitchen to eat. I pray there was enough for me to eat. I looked into the pot and saw nothing, I walked to the fridge, I opened the fridge, took out a Pepsi and a coconut bread with me.
This was how I'd spend my time. Taking a bite from the bread, I opened my Pepsi. Nothing was more tastier than eating Pepsi and coconut bread.
My eyes were getting heavy but I was determined to finish my delicious food before going to sleep. I yawned as soon as I was done eating.
I rinsed my hands and walked back upstairs into my room. I didn't have enough time to sleep. Just as I was about to sleep, I noticed my window was opened.
How could I have left it opened? What if someone got into the house through the window and stole from me or tried to kill me? I facepalmed myself, walking towards the window to close it.
Just as I was about to close it, I could hear mufflings. I was immediately alerted, wondering what was happening.
Who could that be? Were they kidnapping someone and the person was screaming for help? Or has someone been beaten to death? Those thoughts clouded my mind, letting my curiosity get the best of me.
The sound was different from someone who would be kidnapped and perhaps I didn't know how to describe the sound I heard. Someone was moaning, what situation could the person be?
I felt the urge to use my touch light and see what could be happening.
I tapped my ears lightly believing I was insinuating but my ears weren't and then my eyes saw something, the light of the moon, showing shadows of people against the wall on each other.
I gasped! My eyes blinked severally as I turned on my back.
I wondered who it was and what room was opposite mine? I tried seeing through the dark but nothing, totally nothing at all.
I shut my window and thought of other things to do. While trying to sleep, I couldn't as my mind was obviously curious about the scene earlier.
I didn't know how I managed to sleep last night but when I woke up, I saw my mother, opening my window.
"Liliana get your ass up!" She shouted. She was dressed in her nurse attire which meant she was leaving again and when she was coming back was best known to her.
My heart sank, the thought of her going away ached me and I got pained.
"Good morning mother," I greeted, trying to shrug whatever Ill feeling I had within me.
"Good morning, I am running late already, this is some money for you, I have given Dennis his, I will be back as soon as I can," She said to bring out some money from her purse.
She gave me the money and I counted it, it was a thousand dollars. "If you want anything else, call me on the phone, I love you," She said, hurrying out of my room, just like she always does.
My heart sank. I carried my duvet and covered my head, letting the tears roll down my cheek. Here in New York was just the same as in Florida, they were always away, none of them cared or paid attention to us.
"Liliana!" I heard my name in my sleep but I couldn't tell if it was reality or a dream. I felt someone shake me but I didn't bulge. Another shake and I didn't and before I knew it, I heard a loud bang sound making me jump off the bed.
"What is your problem?!" I yelled and was pissed at her. She was with two stainless trays on her hand and she had banged them hard against each other to make loud noises.
"Fall the roof Juli!" I shouted.
She laughed hysterically as if she didn't care. "Nice one, laugh all you want as if it's gonna be an achievement!" I shouted.
"Will you relax, have respect for me, I am still your older sister!" She deadpanned but that didn't faze me.
"I am still your older sister!" I mimicked in a childish way.
"Okay, guess what you will do for me, I was searching for nearby highschool and I don't know the one you might like most considering they are both good ones, so take a look at their school and decide," She said to me, showing me the content she had on her tablet.
The first school looked nice, I scrolled up to see their achievement and academy standard, there were really good no doubt and realisation dawned to me that I was going to begin high school soon considering the holidays would be over this week.
I also checked for their extracurricular activities. I looked at the school name; Waters high school. The name itself made me laugh.
I looked at the second school, the building alone intrigued me. I checked their academy status and achievement and I couldn't help but be in awe of their achievements. I fell in love with the school instantly.
I looked at the school name; Diamond high school. Both schools she showed me were private schools and I wondered why. Going to a private school wouldn't be a bad thing but I've never been to one and I'm guessing there might be a reason she wasn't telling me about.
I turned to look at her, "Diamond high school it is," I said to her.
"Okay!" She replied.
