Chapter 4
I was curious to know why they chose a private school for me. Something was off and I wondered why.
I looked at Juliana as she typed on something on her iPad and I felt the urge to ask her what she was typing.
Suddenly Juliana turned to me, "Are you sure about this one because..." I cut her off. "I am definitely sure, now can you..." I trailed off, I felt it might not be anything so I decided not to ask her anymore.
"What is it?" She asked me.
"Kindly leave my room because I want to sleep!" I shouted.
"Didn't you get enough sleep last night?" She asked me but I didn't say anything other than grumbling.
"I didn't!" I finally shouted when she looked at me in a way demanding an answer.
"What?" She asked, slightly worried. "Are you sick, did something happen to you?" She started to check up on me and I looked at her with love.
Most times I wished Juli gave birth to me, unlike my mother she has played mother roles than my mother did.
Julie was more of a mother to me, than my mother was ever. Julie had been someone I could count on, talk to and celebrate with.
I remembered the first time I saw my period, she was the one with me and not my mother. My mother didn't care to know or ask until two years later.
She was damn surprised when she found out I've started. She started to ask me when and how I went about it, I felt like screaming at her and crying. She was two years late to know any of that. Most times I just wished I never had a mother, that way, I'd know I didn't have one other than to have one and not feel her presence in my life.
"I am fine. I just saw something that damaged my eyes or more like invaded my thoughts. Not like I really saw anything but I heard something and I'm not sure if it was what it was or maybe I was just insinuating. Other than I couldn't pick out who that was but Julie..." I turned to look at her with a pouty face.
"Do you perhaps know who lives opposite my room?" I asked her.
Juli looked at me with confusion, "What is wrong, what are you not telling me Liliana?!" She asked firmly, pressing her lips together in a thin line.
I heaved a sigh, "Do you think the owner of the house could perhaps stay in that room or maybe it's one of their children?" I asked her.
"I don't know and if you are curious we can go and find out but first..." She trailed off.
She pointed at me and then spoke up, "What are you not telling me?" She asked me with accusing fingers.
"It's nothing," I said to her trying to dismiss the issue but who am I to tell Julie that and expect her to give up. "Come on, spill Liliana Rose Lim!" She demanded.
"Leave me alone!" I whisper yelled but she kept urging me to speak up.
How the hell did I get a sister like this? I finally stood up and sat down on the bed. "Okay I will tell you but please don't go all crazy, I am having a headache already," I said to her.
"Sure, I won't!" She assured me.
"Are you sure, you promise?" I asked her to make sure I got her assurance.
"Okay, go on and I promise," she said.
"Last night I heard moaning and I saw something but I'm sure my mind was playing games with me therefore I couldn't sleep," I said to her.
Julie gasped. Okay let me tell you something about my sister and I, we have a very strong relationship and I can tell her anything with rest of mind and not cringe.
"Hmm, who could that be?" She thought, placing her hand on her chin.
"Wanna find out?" She asked me. I shrugged it off, I don't want to find out, I'd only get more uncomfortable that I am.
"No worries," I said to her. "I'm definitely not prepared for a new school, like how will I feel? You know that feeling of being a new student and being new to things," I said to her.
"Its going to be fine Lily, I know you are worried but remember we are in a new environment and your anxiety shouldn't stop you from being that Liliana Lim I know of," She said to me.
Three years ago after a heavy incident that occurred, I wasn't myself. The extroverted blunt and bold Lily died replaced with a shy and quiet Lily who suddenly hated the crowd.
A lone tear rolled down my cheek as I remembered what happened.
I blame my mother till today, all I did was for her attention and for her to have a reason to come see me but none of it bothered her.
"Aww, don't cry lily, you have me, you know." Julie wiped my tears with her palm pulling me into a hug.
"Remember no one should bring you down or weigh you down, you are what you say you are and who you are, you are that sharp little girl who was fierce and strong, you are Liliana Rose Lim, the unstoppable girl who gets her goal achieved without intimidation." Whenever Juli cheered me up, there was obviously who could do it like she could.
She was my rock, someone to lean on, my big sister.
I smiled, her hugs were the best and I'd definitely not trade her for anyone in this life.
I hope this place would be of good difference to me and by God's grace it will.
It was past three in the afternoon when I rested my arms on my window looking at the environment.
"Lady Liana, what an honor to finally see you!" I heard a familiar suave voice speak. I looked up and my eyes met with Ricardo.
His eyes skimmed me for a while and I wondered why. "Not bad for a short woman," he shrugged. I was completely lost and confused. What did he mean?
"Meaning?" I asked him.
"So you don't go to school or what?" He asked.
"I go to school but I haven't resumed yet," I said to him.
"Is this your room?" I asked him.
"Yes, it's mine and I just realised your room is opposite mine, you are definitely going to see more of me now," He said.
"And seeing more of you is an achievement or what?" I asked him.
"Just admit it already, you are honoured to speak to me," He shrugged.
"I'm so honoured but too bad you are not Shawn Mendes," I retorted.
"I'm hotter than Shawn Mendes, that dude isn't fine, I wonder why girls fantasize over him," he said and I chuckled.
"You are of the male species like him, so I doubt you wouldn't understand anything!" I said to him.
"I would really love to chat but I am an extremely busy person. So appreciate the one minute I spent with you just now," he winked.
I scoffed, "Cocky much!"
