Chapter 13
Now the distance from the garden to the house was not a very long walk but there was some distance between it. I could either be a 10-minute casual walk or as quick as seconds depending on the urgency of the need and the form, I took doing it. Since there was no rush to return with Johnathon finishing his Alpha duties at the Northern Border, I took my time as I walked thinking about this power that had shown itself to me today.
What does it mean, exactly? What does it mean for me? For my destiny? I knew it had something to do with my lost heritage and my unknown birthmark, but I did not know what. Lost in my thoughts, I suddenly sensed someone lurking in the forest around me. I quickened my step as I looked around picking up a detestable stench.
Before I could move into a run, I felt someone grab my waist and arms from behind. ‘Johnathon! HELP ME!’ I cried through our mind link. I was struggling to get away from my assailants grasp when I felt my birthmark tingle again. The tingle moved with fury throughout my body. As I tried to shout NO! I felt a surge of blue energy shoot out from within me and knocked us both down like an explosive wave.
I laid on the ground stunned and confused as I was trying to clear my head by shaking it from side to side from what just took place. When I turned around to see what had happened to the man that grabbed me, I saw about another 5 wolves knocked out cold on the ground.
I mean unconscious… Knocked. Out. Cold. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Not only did this power come up from nowhere within and free me from the rogues, but it completely put them down.
Five big… I mean HUGE wolves ready to kill me and a rather large scruffy, dirty looking and smelly man. I just sat there dumbfounded for a moment when I heard someone calling my name.
Some of the warriors who were left with me shook their heads in disbelief of what just happened in front of them. As well as dumbfounded that Johnathon even got back from the Northern border as quickly as he did as well.
“Timber!” Johnathon called out as he ran up shortly after assessing the scene as I stood there dumbfounded. His eyes were fixated in disbelief as he saw the scene laid out before him. When his eyes met me sitting on the ground, he smiled shortly with relief and hugged me tightly.
He told his men to gather the prisoners and put them in the dungeon. I hugged him tightly back as he placed his head in the crook of my neck where he marked me and stroked my hair with his hand as my head rested on his firm, calming and safe chest.
“Timber are you ok? What happened? Did they hurt you?” He was shooting questions off at me like wildfire, so I wasn’t able to answer each one at the time. “I am fine.” I said as he gave me a questionable look. “Really I am fine. Just a little startled but I am fine. They didn’t hurt me. One of them grabbed me from behind as the others came up.”
“How did you get here so fast? I thought you were at the Northern Border?” I looked at him questionably. “I was… and about that. We need to talk” I nodded my head in agreement…. As we walked back to the house. “Yes Johnathon. We indeed need to talk.”
After a short pause I continued. “I have... a power.” He looked at me with an unknown expression. I continued. “When I was with Magda working in the garden. I felt my birthmark tingle. Then it started moving through my body before it took over.”
I paused to watch his expressions and then kept going. “In the garden, it felt warm and loving. It enveloped me and I felt so safe in it. Like when I am in your arms.” Blushing slightly as I said the latter part more like a whisper than a comment. A smile stretched across his face at the statement as well. ‘She loves being in our arms!’ Bane howled out in excitement.
“Then, just as sudden as it came it left. That’s when I mind-linked you. I needed to talk to you about it because I know it has something to do with my destiny and lost lineage, because it radiated from my birthmark.”
He gave me a confused and guilty look at the mention of my birthmark, and I told him I knew he knew it was there because Magda told me she told him when I went into heat the first time. His face went from shocked to ‘ok you got me’ to ‘I need to have a talk with Magda.’
“Please don’t be mad at Magda, she was only trying to help and reassure me so I would feel comfortable talking to you about it.”
Then I continued telling him about the attack. “When I was heading back to the house, I sensed and smelled something off around me and stared sprinting towards the house when I felt someone grab me from behind. I struggled to get free as I yelled and tried to swing my legs and arms out of his grip. Then out of nowhere my mark started to tingle again, and this time… faster it spread throughout my body like a tidal wave. When I shouted NO! I felt a surge of blue energy shoot out from my body and everyone was knocked out cold.”
I looked up into his eyes hoping he would believe my unbelievable story. He just held me tighter and kissed the top of my head. I’m starting to think, my dream the other night and this attempt to kidnap me, was not a coincidence and it frightened me.
“Shhh… it’s ok. I’m not going to let anyone harm you. I believe you Timber. Now there is something I need to talk to you, about.”
