Chapter 14

~Johnathon’s POV

I got up earlier than I wanted to because I was alerted by my Beta that there were rogue sightings near the Northern border through mind linking. I really did not want to leave Timber as she looked so peaceful lying there. Before I could get out the door things changed. Timber started tossing and turning like she was struggling with someone. When she started yelling in her sleep, that’s when I started shaking her and calling her name. She was covered in sweat. Her eyes were filled with terror and confusion as she looked around at her surroundings as if she had forgotten where she was.

When I tried to console her with my arms, she screamed and moved away from me in jerky motions. It upset me and my eyes turned a deep emerald color as my wolf cried out from within. I kept telling her it was just a nightmare and she was safe. I said this over and over again trying to calm not only her but myself down as well. I must say it worked all around because I felt her relax as my wolf did the same with her touching my arm and hugging me tightly.

I begged her to tell me what happened, but I also could tell she was too afraid of whatever happened. It must have seemed real to her because all I could say was, she was now with me and I wasn’t going to let anyone hurt her. She finally calmed down and rested briefly until I had to go to the Northern Border to see about the rogue problem.

~Time Lapse

I met up with Andrew and a few warriors at the North border by mid-afternoon to find about a dozen rogues trying to enter my territory. I asked their business, but they sneered at us and charged forward as they shifted into their wolves. Leaving us no choice but to fight, and I was hoping we could keep this civil. Wishful thinking on my part. Especially when rogues are involved.

One lunged at me, I assumed was the leader because he was the first to attack. He was mangy and dirty with chocolate fur. He was a rather big wolf with pretty good speed and strength. However, he was no match for mine though. Without shifting, I grabbed his mouth with my hands and pulled them apart. When I heard the crack and pulled my arms apart, the wolf was dead missing his jaw from his head. Another wolf launched and bit into my shoulder just as I shifted into my wolf and turned him over onto back, making him let go. I got on top of him and bit hard into his neck grabbing it at such a force the whole thing ripped off leaving him motionless. Andrew and the other warriors were doing a great job defending the pack and killing the rogues that were attacking them as well.

I turned to attack another rogue running towards me when I felt a surge of something moving through my body starting in my neck where Timber had marked me over my old mark. Before I knew it when I growled unexplainable strength and power filtrated my entire being. When I grabbed the rogue, I bit into him and flung him against a tree. He hit it so hard everyone heard it as he broke in two. Everyone, Andrew, my warriors and the rogues stopped briefly in shock of what just happened.

The rogues then looked at each other and attacked more and harder. All I could do was think about Timber and if this was because of her marking me, and I her, when we mated last night. Suddenly as I was fighting off another rogue who came at me in pairs now, Timber mind linked me. She needed to see me as soon as possible to tell me something. It sounded urgent in my mind and said I would once I got this situation under control.

Once we had finally taken care of the attack in the Northern border, I heard Timber yell for help in our mind link before it was abruptly cut off. I mind linked my men and told them we needed to get back to the pack house quickly due to a problem near there. The power surge I had felt during fighting had come back when she mind-linked me. I felt as if I teleported to Timber as it did.

When I arrived at where Timber was, I saw her lying on the ground in a dazed and confused state. I also saw five rogue wolves and a rogue unshifted laying completely unconscious on the ground in front of her. I called her name and picked her up from the ground in my arms as I smiled with relief and hugged her tightly.

“Gather the prisoners and put them in the dungeon.” I said to the warriors standing there. ‘Andrew?’ ‘Yes Alpha? Where are you? You just disappeared.’ ‘I’m at the house with Timber. Don’t ask cause I’m not sure myself’ I warned as I knew he was going to ask me how ‘Tell the men we need to prepare for another attack and secure all the borders this time. Everyone must be ready. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of them, yet. This is possibly only the beginning.’

With that Andrew prepared the men through mind-link since he was still coming back from the Northern Border, and the pack in the surrounding areas within the territory to prepare for another attack. One that could cause many lives to be lost. On all sides if we are not watchful.

When she hugged me tightly back, I couldn’t help but place my head in the crook of her neck where I marked her and stroked her hair gently as Timber rested her head on my chest.

“Timber are you ok? What happened? Did they hurt you?” I was so scared she was hurt I kept asking her questions without giving her a chance to answer them first. When I finally stopped, she answered just as quickly. “I am fine.” She said as I looked at her questionably.

“Really I am fine. Just a little startled but I am fine. They didn’t hurt me. One of them grabbed me from behind as the others came up.” After a short pause she continued with “I have a power.” All I could do was look at her and think ‘ok so I wasn’t the only one this happened to today’. Feeling relieved and sighed at the comment.

“When I was with Magda working in the garden. I felt my birthmark tingle. Then it started moving through my body before it took over.” She paused again probably to see what I was going to do or say and then kept going.

“In the garden, it felt warm and loving. It enveloped me and I felt so safe in it. Like when I am in your arms.” Blushing slightly as she said the latter part in more like a whisper than anything. I smiled at the comment and her blushing. Goddess I love it when she blushes. ‘She loves being in our arms!’ Bane howled. ‘Ok just cool it you big puppy.’ I said as I smirked at him.

“Then, just as sudden as it came it left. That’s when I mind-linked you. I needed to talk to you about it. I know it has something to do with my destiny and lost lineage, because it radiated from my birthmark.” I stared blankly at her at the mention of her birthmark. How did she know I knew about it? Sensing my question, she continued with “I know you knew it was there because Magda told me she told you when I went into heat the first time.” It must have been all over my face thinking ‘ok you got me’ and ‘I need to have a talk with Magda’ because she then continued with “Please don’t be mad at Magda, she was only trying to help and reassure me so I would feel comfortable talking to you about it.” I just smiled and nodded for her to continue.

“When I was heading back to the house, I felt and smelled something off around me and started sprinting towards the house when I felt someone grab me from behind. I struggled to get free as I yelled and tried to swing my legs and arms out of his grip. Then out of nowhere my mark started to tingle again, and this time much faster as it spread throughout my body like a tidal wave. When I shouted NO! I felt a surge of blue energy shoot out from my body and everyone was knocked out cold.” Then suddenly I realized that I was there instantly. “Wait. How are you here so fast? You were at the Northern border?” pushing him back just a little to look up at him.

Not knowing exactly what to say I just held her tighter and kissed the top of her head. “Shhh… it’s ok. I’m not going to let anyone harm you. I believe you Timber. Now, there is something I need to talk to you, about.” With an emphasis on there and you. That’s when she looked up at me in a confused and dazed look. Again.
