She looked at me in fascination, but when I wanted to put my lips longingly on hers, she suddenly pulled her face back and seemed very thoughtful.
I wanted to ask her what's going on, but as the exciting tension between us slowly decreased more and more, I suddenly recognized tears in her eyes and just watched speechless as one of the tears flowed down her flushed cheek.
"I'm so sorry," she sobbed, her voice shaking, taking a deep breath and wiping her face while I gently placed my hands on her waist to give her some support. "I should have talked to you instead of just walking."
"Isalie," I tried to comfort her because none of that mattered to me anymore. The main thing was that she came back to me. "Is okay."
"No, Emilio," she breathed, looking at me apologetically with her teary eyes. "It wasn't okay. You didn't deserve that after always being honest with me."
Tenderly, she lowered her hands to my cheeks again and caressed my skin tenderly, making me close my eyes for a moment. She felt so warm. Her touch was so loving and I forgave her the moment she turned her back on me on the beach.
"And now it's up to me to be honest," she explained, panting, and I curiously opened my eyes to look right into hers. "But you have to promise me something," she demanded, looking at me pleadingly.
"And that would be?"
"That you sit here under me and listen to me until the end. I also want you to give me your word that you won't do anything rashly!"
She removed her hands from my cheeks and held them out to me, and as a show of goodwill, I took her hand in mine, smiling at her as I did so.
"You have my word, butterfly."
If only I had never given her my word.
"So," she began, pointing down at herself, which caused me to feel my excitement growing under her pelvis again when I reached her cleavage, but I quickly focused on her sweet face again. "It's just a cover."
"A disguise?"
"Yes," she explained, looking out the window next to us as if she was looking for something. "Three weeks ago on the beach, when I made the biggest mistake of my life, I was taken into a van by a police officer. He showed me photos of men who were all being killed and threatened me if I didn't spy on you sure to find traces of Carlos in my apartment."
"What?!", I asked stunned and wanted to get up under her, but she immediately pushed me back into the leather seat on my shoulder and gave me a warning look.
"You promised to stay calm!"
"How am I supposed to stay calm with something like that?!", I told her and already felt my chest start to tremble with anger.
Not about the fact that apparently bored police officers were tailing me, but about the fact that my butterfly was being dragged along and that she was even being threatened!
That cop would be lucky if I didn't find out who he was!
"Relaxed?", she wanted to know quietly and reluctantly I took a deep breath and nodded calmly, although inside I was in a raging storm.
"In any case, I didn't say a word about you and went home as quickly as possible, but after a few days I noticed that whenever I called my parents, there was a slight hissing noise on the line. I don't have any I don't know if I'm paranoid or if I'm being bugged... Well, whatever. What I was getting at is the fact that there's a white van parked in front of my front door at the same time every night. I think they're monitoring me and so my only chance was to see you and warn you to dress like a whore and jump out my window into a bush."
"You jumped out of your window in that outfit?" I asked in amazement and she nodded wistfully.
"I definitely didn't want them to follow me. I just didn't want you to end up in danger because of me."
"Oh, Isalie," I breathed, pulling her waist closer to me. "You are my only salvation! How could you ever put me in danger..."
She smiled wryly and gently rested her forehead on mine, causing us both to close our eyes and let the moment of calm sink in.
I was really grateful to her for being so open about all of this and even willing to fool the police for me, but I already knew something was wrong.
Hector also let me know that he felt he was being watched, which made it all the more important to him that I was well prepared for the next day. Nothing could go wrong.
"And I want you to know that I didn't just leave," she whispered, barely audible, and I felt her body cramp slightly.
"How do you mean?"
She hesitantly pulled her forehead away from mine and suddenly looked super nervous. There was no longer a smile on her lips. No more twinkle in her eyes.
Only fear and panic opened up to me, but these feelings didn't seem to be meant for me.
"Do you remember our promise?"
"Stay calm?"
"Yes, exactly," she nodded and I nodded too, irritated, because I didn't know what was to come next.
"You have to think about that now!"
"Isalie, please tell me what's going on. I gave you my word, so I'll stick to it," I spoke slowly, really impatiently, because I was panicking that she was about to reveal to me that someone had physically harassed her.
"Ernesto was with me that day and showed me a video on a cellphone of a woman being drowned in the pool."
Silence... Incredible silence arose around me and I didn't perceive anything at all, except for this abysmal hatred that slowly spread through my veins throughout my body.
"Emilio?" Isalie spoke to me, but I just stared past her to the driver's seat with sheer anger and wanted nothing more than to finally kill this bastard!
Now I didn't care!!!!
Make me a slave to his actions! OK!
Humiliate and use me! OK!
But let me think I'm not good enough for her for three weeks. I would have driven them away. I would be to blame for everything, that wasn't okay!
He had taken my butterfly and it was only thanks to her strong personality that she came back to me despite everything.
What woman would that be after watching me watch another woman die?!
None!
"Isalie, let me get up," I instructed her calmly, but my hands, caught in blind rage, were already shaking uncontrollably.
"No! You promised me something-"
"Get up!", I ordered in a dark voice and even though I was sorry for snapping at her like that, I just couldn't help it! He had to pay for it, right now, before my anger would subside and I wouldn't be able to cold-bloodedly murder him.
"I won't get up-"
Without much effort, I pushed her off my lap and then opened the car's door, walking around and yanking open the driver's door.
With my thoughts already in front of his body, I sat down in the driver's seat and went to put the key in, but then I realized that I didn't have it, she did.
"Give me the-"
I turned around and unexpectedly saw that there was no sign of Isalie. Stunned, I turned to the beach and saw her walking down the sand to the fiesta in her high heels.
She didn't really think she could stop me like that!
