Danger
I can't believe my eyes! Everyone here is so elegant, based on their looks and the way they move, very refined and calculated.
What's going on?
It's like a different party here. The richest and most elegant people here only party.
Fuck! This is so amazing!
I scanned the place. It's very different here. The place looks the same but it's giving you an eerie vibe, like you are in a dangerous place even though everyone looks like they have class and education.
Their eyes are telling you differently. The way they look is like they are going to suck your soul.
What party is this?
If downstairs everyone is noisy, drinking, dancing and having fun, here they are talking normally while having wine glasses, it's only red, the color of their wine glass is also like wine red, unlike the gold below the color
Almost all of them are also pale.
I leaned forward to Silvana and whispered. "W-what is it?"
"A party!" She said, happily.
What? This is what they call a party?
Hardly anyone is having fun here so how can it be called a party? Is he cheating on me?
Is he sure Asmo is here?
Looking at everyone's faces, they look miserable for some reason. Only Silvana had a smile. Everyone is serious, maybe Asmo is here because these are his vibes. They are always serious and seem to carry the whole world with them.
"But it doesn't look like it's a party."
It's more like a funeral event than a Halloween party. No one is having fun here.
"What are you doing Adra, this is really how we party. Maybe you just aren't used to it!" he said.
I looked again. I don't know anyone here. There were no familiar faces either, as if I had just seen them.
Most of them are in suits, others have capes on their backs.
I think it's an odd way to party.
But who am I to judge their party, I just saw a party.
"I'll get us drinks, okay? Stay here," said Silvana.
"I'm not a kid, Vana. You can go. No one will bite here."
Silvana laughed at what I said. I'm not sure if she laughed because it's funny or I'm not seeing the clear picture of what's happening?
I stayed where Silvana left me and just watched.
Some of them breathe heavily when they stop in front of me and narrow their eyes at me, I don't know why. Almost all the costumes are actually vampire suits. Nothing else at all.
Can there be a party just for monsters? Heroes? Slutty bunny? Or what?
Because the second floor seems to be exclusive to those who are in vampire costumes!
Maybe that's why Lorcan forbids everyone to go up to the second floor because there's an exclusive party? I only see a few people going up there so maybe that's the set up.
I frowned when I noticed the man who went up the other stairs with Silvana. The butler ushered him into a room and there were girls and boys among them who were guests at the party.
Hmm…
I don't want to assume but, are they swingers?
My face is pale.
As for everything you thought, Adrasteia is still swinging! Can't they just have a meeting?
Meeting in the middle of a party?
Is this a meeting party?
It's so fucking confusing!
I don't want to think about it anymore. As soon as I put my attention into something, my eyes caught them again.
The women and men who came in earlier have come out. Even the butler, but the man with the butler who was sent ahead, still didn't come out.
My eyes stayed there.
It was more noticeable that the man and woman who entered there now seemed to be glowing than before they entered that room.
But where is the man?
My eyes widened as the butler and I looked at each other.
I panicked instantly and tried to look somewhere else to avoid his eyes.
Damn it!
I pursed my lips and continued to act like I'm doing something that's keeping me busy.
I shrieked when cold soft hands touched my shoulders.
My heart is pounding with excitement!
"Geez, Adra. I didn't know you were so scared!" Silvana said with a laugh, then handed the wine glass to me.
"That's you, Vana! Where are you from? It took you a while to get drinks!"
"And I didn't know that you have attachment issues. Asmo wouldn't like that," she said, "Or he might, I don't really know."
I looked back at the door in the corner, the butler was gone.
Maybe the man has already left, I just didn't notice.
"Where is Asmo?" I asked.
"I can't see him. But I'm sure he's here. Silvhari told me. Besides, he never misses this party. No one misses this party." She winked at me.
I was about to ask her what she meant when someone interrupted me from the back.
"Silvana?"
"Lorcky!" Silvana said and hugged the man.
I stared at the guy.
Unlike the others, this one was in a wine red suit with a black cape. He is the only one who is different. His white and pale complexion appeared even more because of the color of his clothes.
His hair is long, it looks like Harry Styles' back then, they even have the same eye color!
Could it really be Harry?
It's not the case!
He has a distinctive feature, he looks handsome and mature. He also has a chiseled jawline that's why the long hair suits him.
"Where's Silvano?"
"He's coming, you know him, he likes to be here at the peak hours, because that's the time where most of them are unconscious." Silavana shrugged.
"I know very well," he said and looked at me, "Who is she? I don't think I've seen this before."
"Oh! She's my friend Adrasteia!"
His eyebrows raised. "A friend huh?"
It made me look.
"Yes, a friend Lorcky!"
"But I thought I was your only friend?" He grinned.
"Oh shut up!" she laughed.
"Anyways I'm Lorcan," he said and held out his hand.
I immediately reached out and shook hands.
"Adrasteia." I smiled shyly.
I pursed my lips when he didn't let go of my hands after the handshake.
It seemed like he didn't want to let go but in the end he did. The smile on his lips disappeared, as he stared at me.
What just happened?
"Your friend is special, isn't she?" Lorcan asked.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
He looked at me, including his hand that I use to shake hands with him.
"Nothing." He smiled.
Silvana rolled her eyes. "Your name sounds old Lorcan. Change it to Lorcky already!"
"Lorcky doesn't sound terrifying Silvana."
Wait a minute.
Lorcan?
Is this Lorcan?
Lorcan hosts this party every year?!
Oh my gosh!
Did I just meet him?!
"Oh wait, I got the wrong drink. I'll be back, wait here Adra, I'll be here for a moment. Promise," Silvana said then went somewhere.
Lorcan and I were left behind.
His eyes are still on me.
I pursed my lips.
Is he really Lorcan?
Then this is what he looks like. Shouldn't he also be showing up at the party downstairs? Because he is the host of the same party? Or does he prefer the exclusive here compared to the noisy and chaotic party downstairs?
"Let's wait for Silvana at the veranda," he said, "Follow me."
I couldn't do anything but follow him.
Damn it! Why did Silvana leave me!
It's not that I don't want to be with Lorcan, but it's very awkward! There was something just like him, just staring at me.
Do I have dirt on my face?
When we reach the veranda, I can't help but admire the moon from here. It's an open space, the breeze of fresh air is a relief, especially when it touches your skin.
Just the two of us standing at the other end.
We stand in silence but I'm the first one to break the silence.
"Can I ask a question?"
"You are already asking, darling."
Of course, Adra!
"Uh… because you're the host of the party every year, aren't you? Aren't you tired of hosting so many people?" I asked.
A ghost of a smile formed on his lips. "This isn't just a simple costume or Halloween party, Adra. This party has a purpose."
Purpose?
What is the purpose of his party aside from having fun?
I didn't say anything anymore because I didn't want to be too gossipy, he just knew me, maybe he wouldn't say.
He looked down at my left hand.
"Your ring is pretty." It refers to the ring I am wearing. That's because it's a moon shape.
"Thank you." I smiled.
"Can I take a look?" he asked.
"Uh… sure."
I was about to give him my left hand when someone walked in the veranda.
Our attention went there.
My heart thudded when my eyes landed on him.
It's Asmodeus!
My eyes are definitely sparkling now! Brighter than the moon because I saw Asmo!
It includes Silvana who is behind him.
"Oh you're just here!" said Silvana.
Asmo's eyes landed on mine, then he threw a glance at Lorcan.
They came to us.
"Asmo–" I was cut off when he grabbed my wrist, pulling me away from Lorcan.
"Nice to see you Asmodeus!" Lorcan said laughing behind us but Asmo didn't stop.
What just happened?
I look at him. Why do I feel that he is angry or something?
Don't tell me he's jealous?
We stopped in front of a room, where the hallway was empty.
Lorcan's mansion is really big! There is more like this!
"What are you doing here?" he asked. His eyes are burning.
"It's a party. So I am here to party, Asmo."
"Your party is downstairs, Adra. Not here," he promised emphatically.
"So is there a discrimination here? Why can't we go to your parties that are rich?
Is it like that?
Do you also have something like that at the party?
What will I do?
Silvana brought me here, she's my friend!
That is crazy.
If that's the case, why can't we be on the second floor because we're not that rich like them?
After all, they are very miserable here!
No music and no one having fun!
Even if it's noisy in the chin and caught, there is a sense of happiness! Not like here!
"She is not your friend, Adra. You have tons of differences, let's start on the fact that she is a vampire and you are not! She is dragging you into danger! Into our world!" His voice raised.
"So? What if there are differences? Humans and vampires can still be friends! Your mindset is the reason why until now there is a wall between vampires and humans. And in your world? Are you really that difficult? Then ano namnah dangerous don? Am I a threat to socialite's like you?"
Asmodeus ran his hands through his hair frustratingly.
Is he really the one who has the appetite to be frustrated by what is happening? He is the one who is so judgmental!
"There are people coming up from the bottom towards here! Silvana and I have a man at the same time. The butler didn't tell her that! He was even accompanied!"
Asmodeus paused for a while.
He took a deep breath.
"Did you see him leave the party?" he asked.
I shook my head. "N-no. But Silvana surprised me so maybe I didn't see..." Fucky shit!
My eyes widened when I realized what the party on the second floor was for.
My mouth gaped as I looked at Asmodeus who rolled his eyes at me.
"Is it a party for vampires?!"
"Isn't it obvious?"
I gasped and held my chest.
Did I just go into a room full of vampires?
How am I even alive?!
"So the guy… is he dead?" I asked.
"One hundred percent possibility."
I can't believe it!
That's why!
So the second floor is off limits for our people! And those who went up to the party were bitten by them! Sucks the blood!
So I never saw The man come out again! It has vampires inside!
He doesn't have any idea!
Maybe that's the reason why there are police reports of people missing after the party.
Even though there are cases like that, it doesn't stop some people from going because it's one of the most famous and biggest parties here in Colmillos.
That means...
Lorcan is a vampire!
Shit!
That's the reason why he is acting odd! And why he still looks good after years! That's why he's not partying downstairs!
And the purpose of the party!
Is to feed themselves!
"Do you see how dangerous it is for a human like you to walk into that room? They can sense that you are different."
Why was Lorcan staring at you earlier?
He didn't even let go of my hand right away.
"I-I'm with Silvana. They probably didn't notice because I was with a vampire."
"Silavana left you with Lorcan. Can you even think of what might happen to you if we didn't find you? And why are you following him on the veranda? You can't just go to a place with someone you don't know. Especially a vampire."
"I-I don't know, then—"
"Even in this supernatural world, ignorance is not an excuse, Adra. In every world that there is, ignorance is pure stupidity."
I sigh.
I'm so stupid!
What if someone noticed me there?
It's exciting yet terrifying.
"It's common knowledge to stay away from strangers, Adra but why am I even trying to put this in your mind? You never learn or take any advice from anyone, you want danger and all."
"I'm sorry." I pouted.
He threw his head back.
It's probably tired of my rudeness.
My attention went to Silvana who walked towards us.
"You're just here, Vhari and Zabelliana have arrived. They're looking for you Asmo."
"I'll meet them later. We need to go," he said and held my hands.
I blink multiple times.
Did he just hold my hands?
"Where are you going?"
"Bring this human back to where it belongs."
Ouch, just human? I thought it was a baby! Still holding hands but not a baby yet!
"But Zabel needs you—" he cut her off.
"I'll be back, and I'm not done with what you did Silvana."
She sighs and bows her head then she throws a glance at me.
Before he could speak, Asmo pulled me away.
