55. Sinful Book 1
I was still finding it hard to wrap my head around what Dan has said. To some extent, I could understand where this Samantha was coming from, but wanting to kill the child wasn’t it.
“You know, finding you was hard,” Dan said.
“Huh?”
“I didn’t know you and Antonio were that serious.
Well I started tailing him, then one day he came here, then you came out to meet him; at first I thought it was just a fling, you know?” He asked.
Ouch!
“But then I saw him come here more often, I knew you had to be special. I started tailing you to see the type of person you are, and I’m really sorry for that. In fact coming to work here was my last resort! When you moved in with him and stopped coming out often, it was hard to see you, or get to you, so I decided to come work here,” Dan explained.
“So you’re the stalker! I knew someone was after me, but I didn’t take it seriously because I didn’t have any issue with anyone, so why would anyone follow me? You know? But when I told Antonio, he told me to move into his house immediately,” I told him, and he nodded.
“I’m really sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. I am desperate that’s why. I know I’m not supposed to do this, but you look like you can talk some sense into Antonio. I don’t want anything bad to happen to Sam, she’s my everything,” Dan said and I nodded.
I wasn’t sure if I could be of help, but the trust he had in me, made me realize that I was the only one in that position of talking to him.
“I still can’t believe all this,” I told Dan truthfully.
“I’m making no promises, but I’ll try to get him to come take Diego,” I told Dan. He thanked me and left my office.
Oh Antonio!
Working was hard, I spaced out every time, I couldn’t concentrate, not to even talk about the mistakes I made while working. I couldn’t do it anymore.
“Melissa, father everything for today, I’m leaving. If anyone asks you about me, tell them I had a wardrobe malfunction or something,” I told her and she nodded.
On my way out of the office, I called the only person I could talk to about everything, Aliyah.
“Hey girlie!” Aliyah hailed.
“Hey where are you? I’m having a crisis and I need someone to talk to,” I told her.
“I’m home, I was about to go out, but I’ll ditch, come over” she said. I nodded and hung up. I drove to Aliyah’s house as fast as I could.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” She asked me pulling me in for a hug when she saw that I was crying.
“Antonio!” I cried.
“What did he do this time?” She asked.
“He’s horrible!” I cried. She led me to a couch where he patted my back as I cried.
“Tell me what happened,” she said and I told her what Dan told me.
Apparently, she knew about Diego, and she had tired to get Antonio to go get him, but Antonio always shoved the talk away. He never wanted to hear anything about it. He always told her that the child was not his, even though he knew that was a lie.
“I don’t even know what to say, because he lied to me. Told me that Dan had given a fake identity to stop me from asking further questions about him. I gave him a chance to tell me if he had anything he was hiding, but he said no. I just want to know, was it something that happened while he was a child?” I asked her.
“I don’t know, but before Rodriguez, married my mom, he always talked about how Antonio’s mother never liked Antonio, but I don’t know how true that was. Maybe it was just something he said to make my mom pity him and fall for him,” Aliyah said.
“You’d have to confront Antonio, Sweets. He loves you, and I know he’d do anything for you, including take that child, but only if you ask him to. So talk to him, let him know that he’s going to lose you if he doesn’t man up and take the child, it’s about time he stopped playing games anyway!” Aliyah said and I smiled.
These people had a lot of faith in me that I didn’t have in myself. They were telling me to do something that would probably turn out negative. It had been seven years, and if Antonio could say no to that child for seven years, why would he say yes when I ask him? Maybe I was overrating my role in his life.
“Don’t think about it too much, just do what you feel is right, and do it at your own pace, no one is forcing you. Just know that you have my full support,” Aliyah said and I smiled. I thanked her and got up to leave.
“Be safe, Sweets,” Aliyah said and I nodded.
I got into my car and took a deep breath. Here goes nothing.
I drove home as fast as I could, still in shocked that I didn’t have an accident on my way, because I drove like a maniac.
Thankfully, Antonio was home, he was in the home office, he was on a call.
I decided to freshen up before speaking to him about Diego, Dan and Samantha.
I knew we were going to have a fight about it, I knew he was going to be very angry, but I was ready for whatever he had to say, just as long as he wasn’t going to lie to me.
I got dressed into a silk night dress and knocked on the door to the office.
“Yeah, come in” came his reply.
“Hey, I didn’t hear you come in,” he said. He was looking mighty fine as usual, he had let his hair down, and it was a scattered mess on his head, but I wasn’t complaining, I liked it. I went around the table and he gave me a peck on my lips and forehead.
“How was work?” He asked me.
“Very interesting,” I smiled at him. I paced around the office a little bit.
“How was work?” I asked him.
“Very hectic, but when I remembered I was going to come back home to you, I felt better,” he gave me his charming smile. He was unconsciously making things harder than it was. I returned his smile with a smile of my own.
“So, I have a very interesting question, I’ve been dying to ask you all day,” I smiled at him.
“What’s it?”
“Dan, was his identity really fake?”
