03. Sinful Book 2
It was Monday, the first Monday in the history of my life that I was excited for. I don't even know why I was excited, but I was. I stepped into my work building with a smile, I was back to the shit hole that I missed so much.
Thankfully, Dan's face was the first face I saw as I stepped into the building; he had his arms open, smiling at me like I got some huge ass promotion accompanied with a raise. All I did was travel and return, what the hell? I ran into Dan's embrace anyway, smiling at his cheesiness. These types of things only happened once, and I had to use most of it. Other workers in the office waved at me with big smiles as I approached the elevator.
Just right in front of the elevator, stood Mr Blue and his one and only arm candy, Annabeth. I couldn't deny though, Anabeth looked better than she used to, or maybe I was tripping because I had been away for a long while.
"Just so you know, I stood against your return," Anabeth whispered to me as she hugged me.
"But look, I'm back with a better ass," I smiled at her. Anabeth rolled her eyes and walked away, in the opposite direction.
"Nice to finally have you back. We really missed you around here. Work was not the same as the incompetent people working in your stead didn't know how to function without you," Mr Blue smiled, passing Dan a warning glare. I was really back.
"Where's Melissa?" I asked Dan on our ride up to my office.
"She doesn't come in to work, does she?" I asked Dan as the elevator stopped. We took the turn to my office and there was still no sign of Melissa.
I had been gone for a while. It didn't mean she was supposed to stay home and forget she had to make a living, as well as mine.
"Oh please, calm down," Dan tried to calm me down.
"I swear to God if I step into that office and she's not there, I'm going to fire her incompetent-"I was cut short but the sound of a bottle being popped. I shook in fear.
Melissa gave me the brightest smile as she engulfed me in a hug.
"Welcome back Boss!" Melissa smiled.
"Get off of me," I laughed, but I hugged her back.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you. Work was really hard," Melissa complained.
While I was away, Melissa would call me a thousand times to ask me how some stuff was done, or how she could go about some stuff, as much as I was happy to help, because it felt like I was still working, I felt a little bad that I didn't teach Melissa enough to prevent her countless calls.
"Of course, Frank complained about how incompetent y'all were," I said and we laughed. It was nice to finally be back. While I was leaving, I didn't think I was leaving behind a lot, just Antonio and Aliyah, but on my return, I found out that I left behind a lot of things, a lot of people.
"Why the hell did you pop champagne in my office anyway? Get it cleaned ASAP! We have work to do people!" I clapped my hands at Dan and Melissa.
"She's truly back," Melissa mumbled out of my office. I made my way to my desk, took a deep breath, and maybe a little break with my phone, before I started working.
Melissa, Dan and I had a lot of work to do, and so we were extremely busy, too busy that we didn't take lunch break; which was why when I got home, after work, I sat in my car for a few minutes, just to catch my breath and relax. It had been a long ass day, and I wanted none of it again, but who was I kidding? I still had a lot of work to attend to. I even contemplated taking some work with me, but I knew I'd be too tired to get it done, and what I needed was uttermost rest.
When I stepped out of my car though, I was met with a surprise. Samantha arid outside the house, she held her hands together, looking down at them, like she was waiting for someone.
"Samantha?" I called her. She looked almost normal; I felt genuinely good for her. Dan was right, she was almost as good as new.
"Sewa! You're here," she smiled at me. I let my eyes roam about her body, she was wearing a big pink sweatshirt and black leggings.
"Were you waiting out for me?" I asked her. Why was she outside then?
"Yes, I heard from Dan that you were back, came to say hi and thank you for everything you did for me and my- Diego," she talked like she was picking her words slowly. It was good for her.
"Yeah, it’s okay. Is there something you want to talk to me about? Let's go in," I smiled at her.
"No, I don't think I'm supposed to step my feet into the place. It looks nice. I just came to say hi and thank you, that's all," Samantha said. I noticed the way her eyes roamed about my body.
"Do you want a glass of water? Or maybe a cup of coffee?" I asked her.
"Oh I I'm fine. I'll take my leave now, it's nice meeting you, and welcome back," she said and walked away from me, towards the gate.
What the hell was that about? I was surprised because Samantha was the last person I expected to see in the house, seeing as she had a certain hatred for Antonio, or he hated her. Thinking about all that made my head bang; I had more reasonable things to do with my time, like sleep the tiredness I felt, away. I didn't even bother to check if Antonio was back home with Diego yet, I just went straight to the room I had occupied before I started sleeping in Antonio's room.
