35. Sinful Book 2
Aaliyah and I had a plan, a plan where Aaliyah would go to the house and use seeing Antonio as cover but what she's actually doing is looking after Samantha and Diego to see if Samantha was doing something horrible to the boy. It wasn't much of a great plan given that Samantha pretends a lot but I knew it would work because Aaliyah and Samantha never agreed on the same thing, and it would be hard for Samantha to pretend to Aaliyah; Aaliyah always saw right through her bullshit.
"Hell yeah! Let's do it! And I hope I catch her doing something so this time she goes to prison and rot forever," Aaliyah had said with so much determination.
"I gave Diego your phone number and mine, so if he calls you, it means there's something horrible going on," I told her. Aaliyah nodded, she was ecstatic that I was giving such an important task as she called it.
I leaned into my office seat, letting out a worried sigh. It was almost 5pm, but I didn't have the heart to leave my office yet. I was heavily worried about Diego because when I saw him at his school, it was obvious something was happening but he didn't want to say.
"Hey," Dan poked his head into my office. I tried to force a smile, to seem I was alright and everything was going fine for me, but I couldn't, not to Dan at least.
"So Samantha called me yesterday and said some things," why won't she just shut the hell up? It's bad enough that Antonio hadn't gotten her out of the house yet. Well what does he know? For all I know, she's probably blackmailing him to fucking her and getting her pregnant, only that this time, she'd die of her mental illness, or maybe she won't, maybe Antonio likes children that comes from Samantha.
"Are you okay?" Dan asked and I smiled, nodding my head. He pushed himself through the door and around my desk, sitting on it like he usually did, as he watched my face.
"I'm just tired. I never knew being pregnant could be very exhausting, and Samantha didn't give me any heads up," I smiled at my lame attempt at a joke. Dan didn't smile or laugh, he didn't think I was funny.
"Why didn't you at least tell me?" Dan asked, he had worried etched all over his face.
"Well, I didn't want it to feel final yet. I was going to tell you, but when I was done being an emotional mess," I could feel bile in my throat, and goosebumps all over my body; then the familiar rush of tears gathering in my eyes. I looked up and away from Dan, blinking my eyes fast for the tears to go back in.
"Honey, you're pregnant; you'll always be an emotional mess," Dan retorted. I laughed, nodding my head at how true his words were.
"So what's your plan?" Dan had asked, before my phone started ringing. Aaliyah was calling. I picked up the call immediately.
"You're at work, yes?" Aaliyah asked. Seeing as there was no greeting whatsoever from Aaliyah was proof that something was up.
"Yes,"
"I'll be there shortly," Aaliyah said and hung up. I looked from my phone to Dan, confused and very worried. What happened? Why couldn't she tell me what she saw? I sighed.
"What's going on?" Dan asked, taking my phone from me, because I think he could see the fresh tears that gathered in my eyes.
"Samantha is going to kill my son," I cried. Dan got up immediately.
"Is that what she said?" Dan asked me. I shook my head. I mean it had to be some sort of hidden message. The temperature was about 36 degrees, but I was feeling so cold, so much that my body was shivering.
"Where is she?" Dan asked, I told him she was on her way, but I doubt he heard anything I said, I barely made any sound. I focused on my stomach, taking in deep breaths to calm myself. I wasn't sure if it was working, I just did it because Dan told me to do it.
A few thousand breaths later, Aaliyah pushed open my door, she looked angry. It was my first time seeing Aaliyah this angry. Yes she had the occasional annoyed look, but this was anger. Her eyes were wide open, her nose was flared, her forehead creased, and she was taking big fast breaths but that must've been because she rushed to my office.
"I will kill Samantha even before you get the chance to," Aaliyah let out. I ran to her, I grabbed her shoulders, searching her face for something that would tell me that Diego was still alive and well.
"Aaliyah, what happened?" Dan asked the question I was too chicken to ask.
"Samantha physically abuses the boy!" Aaliyah answered. I froze. I suspected that Samantha was doing that, but I figured that if she laid hands on the boy, Antonio would notice. I guess I was wrong.
"I went to the house today, there was no one there, not even one maid was in the house. The doors were open so I figured someone was in there somewhere, so I started searching, and I saw Diego crying in Antonio's office," Samantha started. She took off her jacket, throwing it and her bag on the couch recklessly.
"I asked him what was wrong but he didn't answer me at first until I told him you won't come see him if he didn't talk. Diego cried hard as he told me Samantha hit him repeatedly. He also told me that the paper you gave him, she saw it and tore it after giving him a good beating for taking it from you," Aaliyah's breathing was hard as she spoke. I didn't even notice I had tears falling from my eyes until Dan wiped my face. Samantha was a horrible person.
"Tell me you didn't leave him there," I turned to Aaliyah. This was all my fault. I should've pushed the idea out of Antonio, I should've made him see why he shouldn't trust that witch.
"I did, but I told him you are coming for him tomorrow. I tried to wait to see if Samantha would come in, but she didn't. If she had, I would've killed her then." I can't believe she'd leave that boy there alone and in pain. I saw the marks on his body and- He didn't even go to school!" Aaliyah yelled. I wiped away my tears. I was done feeling sorry. I told Diego I was going to protect him, but it let him go through pain like that. I should've taken him with me despite what Antonio said. I should've taken him with me when I went to his school.
"I'm going there right now to get him. God Aaliyah, you should've called me!" I yelled.
"I wanted to, but I knew you'd make rash decisions. Let's give her one more good night's rest, but she's going out tomorrow, I don't care if she dies or doesn't die, but she's got to go. We have to plan this and also call the police," Aaliyah suggested. How does she expect me to sleep knowing that Samantha could kill Diego in his sleep.
"If you're worried she'd do something to him tonight, I doubt she will. Diego said she doesn't touch him when Antonio is around," Aaliyah said like she read my thoughts.
I laughed. That's the only type of protection that stupid self loving bastard could give? Why am I not surprised?
"Dan, if you feel any ounce of pity for your bestie, I want it to die right now, because I'm going to do horrible things to her tomorrow," I smiled at them. Aaliyah smiled back at me, matching my psychopathy.
