Ms Mendoza or Mrs Romero
The Romero jewelry company had existed for years and Armando had run the company to success and greater heights that it became the number one leading jewelry company across the world. A highly fragmented sector of most developed economies, the jewelry industry was the sector that involved the making, distribution, and repair of jewelry, such as watches, rings, and necklaces. The company offered a wide range of career opportunities. When Ricardo took over the company, he decided to make some changes. Used fine gems and diamonds to extend their business. Moving to France, Paris was a good idea because of its rich in fashion
Every week, the company got over a million clients, and Ricardo knew he had to produce the best. The reason why he needed a highly trained secretary. He needed a person he could trust, a woman for that matter. He knew women had creative ideas, and something new on the table
He fired some employees due to their lack of experience,
Two years ago, Armando decided to leave the business and let someone else run it all because he was married with kids. Ricardo didn't want anything to do with the Romero fortune, however, Armando threatened him to accept whatever the family threw at him
Ricardo had no choice but to accept, he had a son to take care of. After everything that happened in the past. He decided to work for his son. Santiago was more important than anyone else. He worked day and night for Santiago. He didn't want to disturb Santiago by bringing another woman into his life as a mother. But his family forced a woman down his throat
Ricardo's expression darkened when he got to his office. And as he expected, another incompetent secretary was hired
All he wanted was a responsible person to carry out work efficiently. Unfortunately, he was already in the office and the lady was nowhere to be seen anywhere
"Sir… I'm sure she'll be here if not… I'll…" Dennis said nervously, he didn't know what to do when his boss was angry. Already his boss was a scary man and now, it seemed he was going to fire more people including the man he entrusted with hiring new employees
"Call him now.. tell him to get his ass here or else," Ricardo made a low growl that had Dennis flinching in fear. Dennis nodded and took out his phone to call the person.
"It's… it's ringing," Dennis informed me when the call went through. Ricardo leaned back in the chair as he waited for the person to answer, however, the call was cut from the other side. Shocked, Dennis glanced at his boss, not sure why the man cut the call. It was like he was tired of living
"I'll… I'll try again," Dennis said nervously and used a lot of strength to dial the number again when suddenly the door flew open getting Ricardo and Dennis's attention
"Come on Ricky, I was on my way here… do you have to have that stern face… I see wrinkles, you are getting old,", the man said in between chuckles and walked to Ricardo's desk whose expression had morphed into a deadly one. Dennis stepped aside, fearing the worst thing which could happen
"Do I look like Armando?" Ricardo asked narrowing his eyes coldly, the brown-haired man smiled and adjusted his coat and pulled out a chair to sit down and crossed his leg over the other like a boss
"Marcus… at your service boss," the man who was none other than Marcus said with a grin as he stared at Ricardo. Of course, Ricardo closed his eyes for a while to calm down. What led to his friendship with Marcus he didn't know
"I gave you a specific job to do because I trusted you," Ricardo remarked calmly Andover forward. Marcus was still smiling as if there was a good show to watch
"And I did…right… I did hire someone for you… but tell me what guarantee can you give me that you won't fire her," Marcus said with a frown. It turned out a Romero was always a Romero. Unlike Armando, Ricardo proved to be a strict boss. Very arrogant and monitored his employees
"Get out now," he made a low growl, Marcus frowned even more and shook his head.
"I thought we were friends. I mean you like it when you use my men for your own benefits and now…" Marcus started scolding Ricardo when the door burst open, the three men turned to see who it was and surprisingly. It was a woman who walked in
What had Ricardo and the rest thinking was the stack of files she was carrying which covered half of her face. Forget that, the man even put two cups of coffee on top
"Oh gosh, oh no…may I come in," a melodious pleasant voice of an angel spoke which had Marcus grinning from ear to ear while Ricardo narrowed his eyes suspiciously. Even Dennis was utterly speechless hearing the lady's voice
"Ahh!" The woman missed a step obviously and everything she was holding including the cups of coffee were scattered around and splashed on the floor taking the lady down as well
"Oh no," the woman muttered when she fell to the floor hitting her head hard and letting out multiple grunts
"A-are you okay…oh dear," like regaining their wits, Marcus flung from his chair and rushed to help the lady. The entire time Ricardo was watching the lady in anticipation as Marcus helped the lady to her feet
"I'm fine, it's fine," the woman said while massaging her forehead which hurt like hell. Even opening her eyes was unbearable
"Okay, did the coffee burn you… oh no, you hurt yourself," Marcus said pointing at her arm. It seemed she fell pretty badly because her shirt sleeves were stained with blood
"No. I'm okay sir…I'm sorry I'm late I…" the woman turned out to be Alana said, pushing the man away when she looked up noticing other people in the room. What shocked her was the man sitting behind the glass desk staring at her with intense eyes
"Oh, that's the boss," Marcus directed her to where Ricardo was like time had stopped. Ricardo didn't keep his eyes on the woman walking toward him with wobbled legs. Not just him but Alana grew alert. What was her husband doing here
"Bro, this is her… I met her in the hallway getting some files and coffee.. she's Ms Alana Mendoza, your new secretary," Marcus made the introduction ls smiling as he made Alana stand in front of him and waited for Ricardo to praise him. Of course, even Dennis was shocked, the boss's wife was his new secretary.
"N-nice to…to meet you, sir," Alana stammered nervously not sure how to address her husband or was it her boss..how on earth was the man her boss and husband at the same time..was she at the wrong company or what
"Dismissed," Ricardo said coldly which confused Alana, wasn't her or… but she confirmed when Dennis and the nice man said a few words and walked away
"I'll have someone come over to clean the coffee," Marcus said gesturing at the coffee-stained floor. Ricardo glanced at the spot and looked displeased. Even Alana felt guilty seeing how she made the place dirty. It was so clean and spacious. So luxurious that she felt like a fool
To make matters worse, she looked horrible. After climbing that tree, getting down was not as easy, she missed a few steps and hurt herself. Even her shirt sleeves were torn and stained with blood. Her hair was messy from running and after the recent fall. Her knees and head ached agonizingly
"Sir…I mean husband…" Alana bit her lower lip awkwardly( a habit she did whenever she found herself in an uncomfortable situation) how was she going to address him
"Miss Alana Mendoza…is that right," Ricardo finally regained her wits and said as he pushed the chair backwards and rose to his feet. Alana nodded and shook her head, confusing even herself. She was married hence miss didn't apply
"Is that what you will be telling the public? that you are..." The man asked coldly and half sat on the desk. His voice held scorn and disdain. Alana didn't know what to do. She didn't mean to say that, Ricardo picked up her file and slowly opened it
The first page had her name and details
"Ms Mendoza?" He said the surname again which made Alana even more uncomfortable. At the reception, she even wrote Miss Alana Mendoza because she was confused and agitated. She regretted it. The man thought she was ashamed of being a married woman. On every page she made it clear that she was single
"Sir I didn't mean to… I was…"
"Get to work," Ricardo cut her off and tossed her file away and rose from the table. Alana fiddled with her cold hands and nodded. The damned alien was her boss. How did this happen
Oh gosh save me, she cried in her head and dragged her aching legs to where she left the files. Ricardo scanned her, she was hurt. And it was her fault. Who told her to go climbing trees when she was a fully grown woman, not a five-year-old girl?
