Courting
Aciel stopped just where that car is usually parked. He can just drop me in the gates but I know Zoey is waiting for me here because we’ll be going to the library to continue our project. I saw her standing on the spot where we usually wait for each other.
”I’ll pick you up later. What time will you finish your class?” Aciel asked me.
”At two. But I’m not yet sure because we’re still working on a project.”
He nodded when the car stopped fully. He immediately got out of the car. Before I could even open the door on my side, he already did it. I went out and his hands that guided me didn’t leave my consciousness.
”Message me then.”
I nodded and bowed a little because I didn't want to stare at his handsome face. The wind is a bit strong and the way his hair gets blown by the wind makes him even more good looking.
”I’ll go now.” I said cause he’s blocking my way out. He’ literally towering over me pinning me against his car.
”Hmm-hmm,”
He seemed to agree but he still didn’t move out of the way.
”You’re blocking my way Ace,” I narrowed my eyes on him.
”I’m waiting for my goodbye kiss,” his playful smirk showed up.
I rolled my eyes, his chuckle came after.
”Alright,” he touched my waist and kissed the crown of my head. “I’ll call you after two.”
I bit my lips and nodded. I was rushing to get out of there as soon as possible. Seeing Zoey standing on our spot with her shock eyes just reminded me that she probably saw what just happened.
”Let’s go,” I said.
”Who the hell of the man is that?” she said with an exaggerated tone.
”No one, let’s go.” I walk past her.
”Is that your boyfriend? Oh my gosh! I know that man. He seems familiar to me.”
My ear pulsated because of what she said. If that’s the case, then I probably won’t tell her.
”I can’t believe you have a boyfriend, Alia. I thought you were this serious nerdy girl but having that hot man all along? God!”
”Stop it, Zoey. Let’s just work on this already.” I sneered at her because she keeps on bringing it up every time she finds a chance.
”I’m so sad I wasn’t able to see you bodyguard today. But it’s worth it cause I was able to see you boyfriend.
”He’s not my boyfriend, Zoey.”
She smirked and taunted me with her eyes. “Oh really? Then who is he? What’s his name?”
I shook my head. I know you’re just trying to corner me, Zoey. That’s not gonna work on me. Gladly, after some while she stopped bugging me about Aciel. We focused on our project, consuming our free time before class. The class starts at eight.
”There’s not much to do now. We’ll only need to proofread all these. Do you want to do this again tomorrow?” she asked me.
”But our class tomorrow starts at seven.”
”Do you want us to do this at home?”
”Uhm, our home?” I asked. I shook my head immediately after realizing that he might just question things since I’m living with Aciel.
”Do you want to visit our house then?”
I bit my lip and nodded. That would be better.
”Alright! It’s set then, I want to bring you to our house anyways.” she giggled. “You know what we should…”
I smiled listening to all her suggestions while we walked our way to our first class. Learning slash going to school is so much fun for me. But in some ways of course, this is a bit stressful at times because of all the deadlines and dues. But so far, so good. I don’t have plans of complaining since this is enough for me.
After class I messaged Aciel that I have nothing to do anymore. He texted me right away that he’ll be waiting at the same spot this morning. And the curious Zoey told me that she wants to accompany me again so she could meet Aciel.
Walking from far away, I already saw the ‘man’ standing and leaning on his car. Wearing dark jeans and a neat polo shirt with shades on his eyes. I scanned the surroundings. And since it’s dismissal time, there are some students who are gawking at him that he seems to not have any idea what’s going around him or he’s just ignoring it?
”Oh my gosh. Damn, that man is hot.” said Zoey.
I shook my head because she sounded ridiculous. Hugging the book, we came near him. Full set of white teeth showed up when he saw me. He removed his wayfarers and as always, he got near me to press his lips into the crown of my head.
I cleared my throat.
”Uhm, Aciel…this is Zoey, my friend. And Zoey, Aciel.” I said.
I looked at Zoey. She immediately offered her hand to Aciel with a look that I can understand.
”Hi. Zoey here. Nice to meet you.” she smiled.
Aciel nodded and shook her hands back without saying anything. After shaking her hands, Aciel’s hand went into me. I almost stumbled because of how he suddenly pressed me beside him.
”I’ve been wanting to meet you. Our Alia here told me that you’re not his boyfriend so I want to personally ask you if that’s true.” she giggled.
My eyes widened when she opened that topic. I look at her with meaningful eyes. She bit her lips and murmured something I couldn't hear.
Aciel glanced at me, that's why I went back to my poker face again.
”She’s telling the truth.”
Zoey gasps. “Oh my! Why so? With Emma being this gorgeous? You have no idea how many men and hitting on her-”
”I’m courting her.”
”Huh?”
”Huh?”
Zoey and my response are the same. We seemed so shocked by what we just heard. But… I think I was more shocked. He’s courting me? Since when? I have no idea.
”You’re her friend right?” he asked.
Zoey nodded with her still puzzled face.
”Can you please do the honor to shoo the men that are hitting on her. Because this lady right here for sure won’t do that. “
My brows furrowed.
”O-oh! Of c-course! Don’t worry sir. I’ll take care of Emma. I’ll tell them that our Alia here is taken and not so ready to mingle.”
”No-” I was about to butt it.
”Alright!”
My head turned to Aciel who smiled and shook her hand again. I was just so confused with everything. All I can remember is Zoey’s meaningful smile while she’s waving her hands when we’re already inside the car.
”Why did you tell her that?”
”Tell what?”
I rolled my eyes. ”That you’re courting me. You’re lying, Aciel.”
”Who’s lying?” he glanced at me innocently.
I groaned and palm my face. I feel suffocated with this kind of people around me.
”That ain’t a lie though. Didn’t I just say this morning that I’m gonna wait for you? So where's the lie, Alia?”
