Destined Encounter
“So you’re telling me that he initiated that sexual tension for the first time?” Lulu curiously asked me, confirming what I just told her.
Since it’s Saturday, I went to the library and helped her fix and dust some books. Because later, I’ll be going to Zoey’s house to finish our project.
”Yes, I think so.” I answered Lulu.
”And you both made up just the next morning?”
”No, days after.” I spat bitterly. “I don’t even know if that’s called made up. I didn’t agree to anything. He just wants to get everything in his own way.”
She didn’t answer me, so I looked to her only to find out that she’s smiling ridiculously. I raised a brow at her.
”What?”
She chuckled and shook her head. “You know from the very start, based on your stories… Mr. Anderson seems to be a good man.”
I hissed. “Good man my ass.”
”Why are you so bitter?”
”I’m not bitter. You don’t know him enough, Lulu.”
”Yeah. You have a point. I won’t know everything unless I’m not on your shoe.”
I didn’t speak and stepped onto a ladder to clean the higher shelves.
”And unless, you’re not telling me exactly everything.”
I glanced at her with furrowed brows. “I told you everything Lulu.”
”Then he’s not a villain then.”
I rolled my eyes again, “Who said he’s a villain?”
”You!” she laughed. “Every story you tell me, it seems like you’re describing a leading man of a book. But what comes out of your mouth? Anger, disgust, bitterness.”
”That’s because you don’t know him enough, Lulu.” I blinked and spat the same words.
”Alright. Let’s say he’s the man that you’re thinking of. What if you just ask him or tell him that you wanted out? You want to get away? Get his sympathy? It seems like that kind of man will just give way in anything for you, based on your stories.”
I shook my head because I found that ridiculous.
”Admit it. I have a point. Come to think of it. Who the hell of an abuser slash kidnapper would let his captive go out freely? And help her to get into a university?”
I hissed again. “That’s because I begged for it, Lulu.”
”Exactly! And not to mention that you’re sleeping in a separate room? What about that? The apologies every time he touched you without his consent? The ‘never’ initiating the first move? What about all that?”
I groaned. “Stop patronizing that man, Lulu. He’s bad. He bought an innocent human in the first place in the intention of making his sex slave.Who knows what’s going on inside his head? I’ve been with so many abusive men in my life that I don’t have the guts to trust any man in this world. You won’t understand me, Lulu.” I spat with poker face.
I saw her get taken back by what I said.
”Either he’s good or he’s not, I don’t care. I’ve been in captivity for so long that all I want now is to just get away and live freely.”
”But based on your plan, you’re gonna hurt him. He did nothing but to help you. If it’s not for him, you’re not here talking to me freely.” She touched her lips because it seems like she didn’t expect that she would say those words.
My heart was slightly pained. Every time I feel like I’m misunderstood I feel so small. That feeling of no one seems to understand you? I hate it.
”As I said earlier, Lulu. I don’t care. I’ll do whatever it takes just to get away and make my revenge. I want out. And if that means I’ll hurt him, that’s not my problem anymore.”
She didn’t say anything after that.
I’m so shallow. I admit that our conversation got me. When I went home I got a bit sulky because Lulu seemed to side with Aciel. I don’t know. Maybe because he’s the only one I have, yet I feel like I’m losing the only person who understands me.
But I guess that’s life. All my life no one heard me. No one listened to me, to my cries, to my sufferings. I shouldn’t be mad at Lulu because that’s her opinion. I shouldn’t be dragging a person into my anger because unlike me, Aciel did nothing to her. And all those people did nothing to her. That’s why she had the right to make her own verdict.
“Alia!”
Zoey’s voice thundered in the whole place when she called my name. I was so amazed looking at her massive mansion. It’s a two storey house, but it’s like a combination of five average houses already. I can see the pool from here and many more amazing things that’s new to me.
Alia’s penthouse screams a different vibe of wealthiness. It’s the modern type, with the bachelor touches and screams city vibes since it’s in the heart of the city. So seeing something big as this touches my heart. It’s like a home, aspiring for a family who lives together. I wonder if we’ll be able to live in a place like this if my parents and I are still together.
”I’m so glad you’re able to come!” She ran and hugged me.
Her giggles are really her thing. Every time I hear giggles, the first person that comes to mind is Zoey.
”Thank you for inviting me here. “
”This is nothing. I should be thanking you instead. I’m bored here. I have no one to talk to except the maids and helpers.”
We walked through the main door, and that took a little while because their free spaces are really spacious. The whole place was quiet when we got inside. The inside of their house is even more surprising. There’s a two grand staircase from the sides that almost meet each other. The chandeliers look grand and the antiques are screaming wealth and stories.
”You’re alone here?” I asked her.
She shook her head. “My mom and dad are out of town. The maids are here as well as the helpers and the guards. But you won’t see them that much, they’re probably at their quarters. Why? Are you uncomfortable with strangers?”
My mind is almost at a loss listening to her spitting words without stopping. I shook my head as an answer.
”You don’t have any siblings?”
She smiled sadly. “Sadly, I don’t have one.” Her face lit in an instant. “That’s why you’re here. I’m gonna invite you here as much as possible because this is such a boring life to be honest.”
Her giggles echoed in the whole place. She guided me into the grand staircase while I’m still in awe, eyeing the whole place.
She brought me to her room which also looks massive. The shades of pink are noticeable. Screams her personality. We both decided to make our project outside since it’s quiet and we’ll have the chance to breathe fresh air.
The maids served us some snacks. Even the maids are in uniform. Just everything that’s in here, I feel in awe. That’s how amazed I am.
But I also have to mention Zoey’s agony about her being alone here. She seems to take it so lightly but I understand her. She’s alone here and it might have been so boring and sad for her to be alone.
I’m an only child as well, but I never thought that my life was boring. It’s agonizing as well but in a different way. I realized that people might be the same but we all have different battles.
After some time, we rested for a bit and stretched out our bodies because we’re sitting for so long that our bodies get stiff. Zoey said that she’ll be getting something so I was left alone. I decided to walk in the direction of the pool’s direction. I stood at the edge of the pool as I watched the water just to entertain myself.
”Emma?”
I jumped in shock when I heard a man’s voice. I squealed because I got out of balance. I thought I’m gonna fall into the water so I shut my eyes tight waiting for my body to meet the water, I remember myself drowning from the last time I’m in the water.
”Shit!”
A hand grasped my waist and changed me into the direction of my gravity so that I won’t fall into the pool. In other words, it helped me to not fall. I opened my eyes and saw very familiar eyes. Our faces are just inches apart because of the adrenaline he just did.
”Why are you here?” he asked.
I gulped, not knowing what to answer.
”Angelo?” That’s Zoey’s voice. “What happened?”
I immediately shrugged off and stood properly to get away from his hold. I saw him looking at me so intently. I avoided his gaze.
We’ve been encountering each other in some most unexpected ways. Why is that?
