###Chapter 385 Buried Resentment – Part 9
"But Ivelle, we as humans cannot control what happens in this world. Jordan said that he loves you. Although his selfishness made you lose too many things, blaming him wouldn't help. Your only choice now is to move on."
Ivelle Astley had nothing to say. As Frida Biden was saying, everything seemed to be caught in a dead-end. Everyone now had an ambiguous relationship with each other.
It was as if everything was all wrong. And yet, there was nothing wrong with it. Life seemed to be ambiguous and ironic this way.
After a moment of silence, Ivelle looked up at Frida and asked, "Have you had lunch yet?"
The conversation seemed to jump too fast. Frida was stunned for a moment. But she shrugged and replied, "No."
"Well, why don't you come and join me?"
With that, Ivelle got up and went to the kitchen. It seemed that life had to move on after all.
Because there were only part-time workers at home and she had no babysitter, Ivelle simply cooked noodles. Frida leaned against the door and looked at Ivelle as she said, "I heard that Jordan is in the hospital. Aren't you going to visit him?"
Ivelle paused for a moment to cut the vegetables and then asked, "Was it because of the cold last night?"
Frida came towards Ivelle in the kitchen to help her and graciously said, "He had been standing in the snow since you left. We all know that he was punishing himself in order to redeem himself, so we let it go. His love for you is true and his pain was real, but what can be done? It all happened."
Ivelle pursed her lips and didn't speak for a while. She just looked at the chili peppers in her hand. She couldn't help but feel a little choke and hotness in her eyes.
After a few blinks, Ivelle put the seasoning into the noodles and asked, "Can you eat spicy food?"
When Frida felt that Ivelle was deliberately avoiding the topic, she just replied, "Both are fine."
After they had eaten the noodles, Frida left. Ivelle was left alone sitting in the living room and was somewhat dumbfounded. Because it was still snowing outside and she was feeling cold, she lit the fireplace in the living room, held blankets and books close to her, and started reading.
She silently thought, 'Should I go and see Jordan? I think it's best not to go.'
When he atoned for his sins before the Biden family, he asked for peace of mind. So Ivelle thought that if she would go and see him, it would inevitably add to the inner guilt that both of them were feeling.
The pain was real, but so was the mistake. No one was at fault. But it was as if fate was teasing them.
In the afternoon, Ivelle received a phone call from Jane. It was very unexpected, but it also seemed to be urgent.
She asked in disbelief, "Meet and talk?" For Ivelle, Jane and she seemed to be more indifferent to each other than when they first met.
She couldn't help but thought, 'That's ridiculous!'
Ivelle replied, "There is no need for us to meet." Although she didn't mean to be indifferent when she replied, she still sounded a little indifferent after all.
After a long moment of silence, the person on the other side of the line asked, "It is necessary. There's something you have to face, isn't it?"
Ivelle's hesitation was nothing compared to Aaron Badger's stubbornness. It was true that people with the same mindset walk together. So finally, Ivelle gave way.
"Okay."
Although she had an appointment, she felt a little lazy. It was snowing heavily outside, so she felt it was really unsuitable for her to go out.
She went upstairs to look for clothes. Fortunately, Jordan had arranged a lot of winter clothes in advance. And most of the clothes were warm and fashionable.
After changing her clothes, she didn't drive. The appointment was not far from the villa. So, she just walked there as she held an umbrella in her hand.
A lot of snow had accumulated overnight. But some people had swept away the snow along the streets, therefore it was still easy for Ivelle to walk on her own.
She heard laughter in the area of the villa. And it came from the couple that was making a snowman.
The woman scooped snow using her shovel and made a huge pile out of it. It did not look pleasing to the eye. Meanwhile, her husband rolled the snow into a snowball and smoothed the edge to make it look like a snowman.
As she saw the couple who were happily laughing together, the snowman seemed secondary to the scene. As she took her eyes back to the road she was walking on, she couldn't help but smile.
She happily thought, 'If one could eat three meals a day with a loved one, and finally give birth to a few beautiful children, isn't that the best way to live for the rest of your life?'
Her thoughts drifted far away. When she got to the coffee shop, she didn't come for Jane. She just sat down by the window and ordered coffee after she found a seat.
She didn't like coffee very much. Because it was too bitter to swallow, she couldn't help but ask for more sugar.
Finally, after some time, she saw that Jane was sent by the driver as she came inside the coffee shop. The winter clothes she was wearing were heavy and clumsy, but Ivelle could still see that Jane was much bigger than the last time she saw her.
Jane sat beside her. She had ordered a glass of hot milk and folded the collar that she had pulled a little high because of the cold.
She rubbed her hands which turned red with the cold. Soon, the waiter came and brought the hot milk she ordered. Jane held the cup and covered her hands.
Ivelle just looked at her quietly. She was silent as if she was waiting for her to cover her hands.
It didn't take long before Jane finally looked up at Ivelle and then looked around.
With a raised eyebrow, she told Ivelle, "I can see that Jordan has protected you very well."
Ivelle lowered her eyes and it could be regarded as a response. The news from the media did not go unnoticed. Several bodyguards arranged by Jordan were still following Ivelle around although it was not so obvious.
But she could see it and for her, it was not easy.
Jane looked at Ivelle and started to say, "I know about the money. When I saw him four years ago, I was in Seville in M country. I liked Spanish food, so I went there almost every time. It was raining heavily on the street of M country that day, and he sat in a daze at the central square. I didn't notice the heavy rain. It was probably because he was good-looking that I went to him with an umbrella to protect him from the rain."
She was talking about Aaron.
Ivelle was silent and quietly listened as Jane went on.
"We M girls are probably different from you American girls. When I was a child, I had gentlemanly manners. As I was holding the umbrella for him that day, it was nothing. But he was very good-looking, and good-looking people are inevitably attractive. So I pestered him. After sleeping with him, I knew I was a little coveted by everyone because of his beauty. So some scoundrels completely fell in love with him."
Ivelle looked up at her and nodded. She felt nothing towards what she was saying.
She continued, "He went there to introduce development in country M, while I happen to have the resources. It was because of this opportunity that we got engaged in country M. So when I met you, we were already engaged. I never understood why he didn't want me to come near him after that time. If it hadn't been an accident, I might not have been pregnant for the rest of my life. It was only then that I found out that you had no feelings for him."
She touched her belly as it snowed outside heavily. Jane continued to say, "I checked, although I have not seen it yet, I think you are unfair to him. He did his best for your sake. If you would think carefully about it, even God had not been fair to him. He was also born into a good family. Although emotionally, he is not as good as your husband, he had experienced a great loss when his parents separated and left him. He always had that special regard for you. You were someone very important to him. But in the end, it seemed like you simply didn't care about him and you had hurt his feelings. Ivelle, you owe him."
Ivelle looked at her. She still felt that this woman was as lovely as ever. She couldn't help but compare her and Nicole because they were different. Unlike Nicole, although Jane knew about her past with Aaron, Jane did not come to pester or abuse her. Instead, Jane came to know and understand the people who were part of Aaron's past.
Ivelle could see that Jane loved Aaron, so she had put herself in his shoes and loved him.
Ivelle replied, "I can't decide for you Jane, whether you love him or not. I indeed owe Aaron and I'm trying to make up for it in my own way. I have someone I love. You should know better than me that I can't be with Aaron just because I was emotionally indebted to him. Of course, you don't want that, do you?"
She nodded and said, "Yes. That's why I wanted to talk to you. I love him, but he still loves you in his heart. I don't blame you, though. After all, it's my problem that I wasn't able to make him fall in love with me even after so many years. I just wanted to thank you."
