Yardan's pov

"qult lan yakun hunak 'ayu radi fiel min hadha aldawa' falimadha 'ughmi ealayha wajismuha shadid alburuda !!!

(You said there won't be any reaction of this medicine then why she fainted and her body is extremely cold!!!)," I shouted at the doctor who just come outside after checking Maryam's health.

He answered looking annoyed," lays kulu almardaa mutashabihina. fi baed alhalat alnaadirat , yata'athar dimagh almarid bihadha aldawa'i. eilawatan ealaa dhalik , 'ablaghtuk bialmakhatir fi waqt sabiqin. 'akhbaratk 'ana hadha aldawa' yumkin 'an yahduth baed altaghyirat alsulukiat lilmarid ".

(Not all patients are the same. In some rare cases, the patient's brain is affected by this medicine. Moreover, I informed you about the risks earlier. I told you that this medicine can bring some behavioural changes to the patient)."

" Yes. Yes. I remember. Don't need to remind me. Just tell me when she will get her senses back?" I asked sounding irritated.

He answered," In hours. Once she gets her senses back she may helluci................."

" I will take care of her," I told him before he could finish his sentence.

I have an important meeting to attend but here I am. Wasting my time on unnecessary things. This woman is always a troublemaker. Such a weak immunity!! There shouldn't be any reaction because of this medicine but in her case it's different.

" Try to behave nicely with her if she behaves strangely," He suggested and waited for my response but I didn't say anything further.

Once he left the place I entered the room. Dragging a chair I placed it beside her head and sat on it. Looking at her pale face I kinda felt bad. I just hope she gets her senses back so that I can return home. Yamir & Omi must be waiting for her.

I know I shouldn't aborted her child but I didn't have any choice. I can't see any negligence in her eyes for Yamir & Omaira. I know that she is considered to them till she has her own child. Once she get her own child my children will face the same fate as mine. That's why I gave that abortion pill to her saying that it was a vitamin tablet. Thanks to the Almighty that she didn't question me. I was thinking to tie her tubes so that she doesn't conceive again. But, I know that she will never agree to this. Stubborn woman.

Moreover, I saved the child from a painful future. No matter what I can't accept this child like Yamir & Omaira. I can't love him or her just like I love Yamir & Omaira. Before this child face discrimination from its father and suffer for the rest of its life, I freed him/her from this world even before he/she was born. I know that Maryam is going to cry for her baby. She isn't a big deal. I will handle her. After mourning for a few days she will be fine.

Author's pov

It was noon when Maryam reached home with Yardan. After regaining her senses she didn't utter a single word to anyone. She didn't even cry. She was looking like a puppet who was functioning according to Yardan. He brought her home and thought that she will cry, scream and mourn but she didn't do anything. She was behaving like a mute.

Taking Maryam to her bedroom, he laid her down on the bed and said softening his voice," Take rest for some time. I will send someone with your dinner."

Maryam didn't reply. She continued staring at the ceiling like it was the most interesting place to see. Under the blanket, her hand caressed her empty belly and that's when her facial expression changed. She wanted to cry but doesn't know what's the point of crying now. Her baby is no more with her.

Suddenly her eyes fell on the crib that she brought for her baby with so much love. With great difficulty, she got down from the bed and went towards it. With trembling hands, she touched it and an affectionate smile appeared on her face. She picked up the small pillow imagining it as her child. Hugging the pillow she sat on the ground near the crib and started laughing.

" I know that you missed Mamma," She told the pillow bringing it near to her chest.

Then she said sounding terrified," I was so scared when I opened my eyes in the hospital. I thought I lost you just like I lost your sibling. But, I was so wrong. Look you are here. Safe and sound."

" You know what you are such a good baby. You don't cry and make noises. Look, how much silent you are. You don't like to annoy Mamma. That's why you are silent, hmm!!" Maryam asked stroking the pillow affectionately.

She continued her babbling," If you cry, Mamma won't mind at all. I will think that you are talking to me. Talk to me, baby. Don't be that silent."

" Oh!! I am such a fool. You want to sleep. That's why you aren't responding. I understood. Let Mamma sing a lullaby for you," Maryam whispered and started singing a lullaby.

She was engrossed singing a lullaby when Yamir and Oamira entered the room. Running towards Maryam they looked at her with sorrowful eyes. Yardan told them to not meet Maryam now but they couldn't resist meeting their Mamma.

Yamir opened his mouth to say something when Maryam said lowering her voice," Shhhh........ don't talk. The baby is sleeping."

Omaira and Yamir were confused by her words. They were wondering which baby she was referring to. There was no baby in the room.

" Mamma, who are you talking about?" Omaira asked confusingly.

Maryam replied showing the pillow," See. Your younger sibling."

Yamir let out surprisingly," But, it's just a pillow. Not a baby."

Those words left Yamir's mouth and Maryam's facial expression changed automatically. She backed away from them clutching the pillow tightly. She was looking so furious like she will eat them alive at any time.

" Stop calling my baby a pillow. What's wrong with you all? huh!! Just leave me alone. You are disturbing the baby," Maryam shouted at Yamir & Omaira which made them dumbfounded and scared. It was the first time she shouted at them like that.

Yamir asked shuttering," Mamma, you are wrong. It's not th..................

" No, it's my baby. You are wrong," Maryam snapped at Yamir and backed away.

Maryam was busy rocking the pillow in her arms while Yamir and Omaira were just looking at her with scared eyes. She wasn't looking normal at all. Her red eyes, messy hair and pale face were looking alarming to the kids. They felt like their mother may have gone mad.

" What's happening here?" Yardan's voice echoed through the whole room.

Maryam didn't even flinch at his voice while the kids ran toward him and hugged his waist tightly.

Omaira told Yardan," Baba, Mamma is behaving so strange. She is calling the pillow a baby."

" She isn't even talking to us properly," Yamir said looking down.

Yardan ordered patting their head," Let Baba talk to your mamma. Go to your room."

When the kids left the room Yardan got close to Maryam and found her whispering something to the pillow. Sometimes she was smiling and sometimes she was shedding happy tears. It was clear that she was hallucinating.

" My baby looks like me, right?" She questioned him.

He snapped at her taking away the pillow," That's not your baby. Your baby is dead. Stop this nonsense."
