Author's pov

It was complete silence after the slap. Yardan was still looking at Maryam with disbelief holding his throbbing cheek while Maryam was staring back at him. She was fuming in rage. Yardan has never seen her that furious before.

" You slapped me!!" He mumbled in disbelief.

Maryam's pupils moved slightly and that's when she understood what she had done. She doesn't know how she raised her hand to him. Taking a few nervous breaths she looked at him with a worried expression.

" How dare you!!!" His intimidating voice echoed through the whole area like a thunderstorm.

She lowered her head when he held one of her arms tightly. With a hard yank, he pulled her towards him. Letting out a gasp she looked at him.

" You don't deserve to be treated nicely. I should have continued treating you like trash because you are really trash. Nothing else. You don't know how to respond when someone shows affection toward you. I was a fool to grow emotional attachments toward you because you don't deserve it," He barked on her face making her eyes close.

Clutching her jaw he yelled at her," Open your fucking eyes."

Getting scared Maryam opened her eyes and then he continued shouting," Mahi never showed this type of disrespect towards me. Never. Nobody insulted me like that ever. Then, who are you to insult me like that? I was always right to treat you like the substitute you are. Except for warming my bed, you can't do anything. You are useless. I was stupid to think that I should treat you with affection & love from this onwards."

Shouting all these he pushed her harshly. Falling on the chair she hurt her back badly but didn't even hiss. Gulping down her saliva she looked at him shaking with anger. He just forwarded his legs to leave the place.

" Stop," She said loudly.

When she didn't see him halting, she screamed at the top of her lungs," I said stop. Didn't you hear me, you bloody old hag!!!"

This time Yardan halted and turned behind. He clenched his jaw because of the way she addressed him. He approached her angrily while she did the same. He opened his mouth to say a few more poisonous words but stopped instantly seeing her grabbing his collar.

" Insult!! Huh!! Your pathetic ego got hurt just because I slapped you! Then, what about that night when you unleashed your beast on me? Wasn't it an insult towards me?" She questioned gritting her teeth.

Seeing him silent she screamed on his face," What about those 5/6 years of me being insulted by you every single day? After that marriage!! Marriage! It's a funny word to say!!"

Maryam mocked their marriage letting out a painful chuckle.

" After you bought me from my parents have you ever given me a single ounce of love & affection? Except for insult, the humiliation I got nothing from you. I took care of your children just like their own mother, I respected you just like a wife should respect her husband but in return what did I get? Except for humiliation did I get anything?" She shouted shaking him while holding his collar.

Leaving his collar she turned in another direction and said bursting into crying," You even killed my first child. Still, I was silent for Yamir & Omaira. Even after this sacrifice what did I get except for humiliation?"

" I pleased you like a wife should please her husband but what did I get in return, huh!! You are talking about insult! You? The person who doesn't even know how to respect his own wife!!" Maryam mocked looking at him.

When she finished letting out her anger & frustration that has been buried inside her for a long time, he grabbed her shoulder tightly. For a few seconds, they continued looking at each other angrily. Maryam started wriggling in his hold but he didn't leave her.

" Fine. If you don't want me to touch you or talk to you. Then, fine. From this onwards neither I will talk to you nor I will touch you," He said pushing her away from him and stormed outside angrily.

When Yardan left the room Maryam started crying silently. She doesn't know why she was crying. She was just overwhelmed about everything. She just needed peace which she wasn't finding anywhere.

After two weeks

After that heated fight, Yardan & Maryam didn't utter a single word to each other. Yardan was going through difficulties because it was getting hard for him to restrain himself from touching her, kissing her plump lips and feeling her soft skin under him.

On the other hand, Maryam didn't even react by his behaviour. It wasn't like she was missing him a lot. She was happy to be alone but there was something wrong with her. Her behaviour started getting harsh with every passing day and she would vent her anger on the servants.

It was night time and everyone was having their dinner. Yamir & Omaira were talking with Yardan but his whole concentration was on Maryam. He wanted to talk to her but remembering about his promise he didn't say anything.

Maryam took a spoonful of soup into her mouth staring at the bowl intensely. Her mind was completely blank. She doesn't know what she was thinking. She clutched the spoon tightly feeling the soup too salty.

" Who made this soup?" She shouted banging her hands on the table.

Everyone got startled by the sound of her sudden shouting. Yamir & Omaira got close to Yardan noticing Maryam's furious eyes. Yardan was surprised to see her demeanour.

" What happened, Mam?" The cook asked rushing into the dining room.

Maryam yelled," Why is it too salty?"

" Ummm...... I am sorry..... I forgot to check it," The cook apologised lowering her head.

Falling to the floor the cook cried out in pure agony feeling the burning sensation on her face. Yes, Maryam threw this hot bowl of soup at the cook. All the servants gasped in horror after seeing Maryam's reaction.

Yardan stood up hurriedly having a stunned expression on his face. Yamir & Omaira hugged his waist tightly because of fear. Yardan looked at Maryam in disbelief who has no clue what she has done.

" Abdul, take her to the hospital right now," Yardan ordered the Butler and the cook was rushed to the hospital.

Maryam was murmuring something when Yardan screamed at her," What's wrong with you?"

Maryam didn't reply. She continued looking at the broken bowl on the floor. A few moments later when she understood what she has done, she started crying. Without uttering a single word she ran to her room.

When Maryam left, all the servants started complaining to Yardan about Maryam's behaviour. They told him that it was not the first time she behaved like a savage with them.

" Sir, just because we work in your house doesn't give your wife the right to treat us like that," A maid said.

Another one said sounding annoyed," If she continues to behave like that we have to leave your house."

Yardan heard them but he couldn't say anything. He wasn't understanding why she was behaving like that.

" When did she start behaving like that?" He asked them.

One of them replied," Sir, after losing the second baby Mam changed a lot."

" Yes, Baba. Mamma scolded us too after the baby went to meet the Angels," Yamir informed and this time Yardan realized that this matter is serious.
