Doctor Kedeva
Doctor Kedeva
I gripped the chair when Alpha Benna said we weren't done yet. Since the moment I was about to mention Kiara's name, all I wanted to do was walk away from him. Staying with him will make me end up spilling the truth, something I don't want to do.
If it meant finding out that Kiara was now in Alpha Maseno's hands, I wanted him to find that out by himself. I didn't want him to know that from me. I don't know why, but I was feeling bad for betraying Alpha Maseno, something I hadn't felt in the past.
''Sit, Kedeva, or do you want me to make you do it?'' He pulled me back into reality.
"Can't we have this conversation another day? I sighed, feeling tired. All I wanted was to go back home and bury my face in my pillow. I could feel my wolf shifting with discomfort at the back of my head too.
What made me feel worse was the presence of Beta Steven. At that point, I couldn't understand why Alpha Benna, being as cunny as he was, couldn't see through his beta, who was nothing but his biggest betrayer.
"It's just like us. Alpha Maseno, being the most powerful and feared alpha in the world, can't see through you. My wolf said that, and I froze.
"We can't. This conversation must end today.'' Alpha Benna's voice pulled me out of my trance once again. I don't like the way you drift into your own world every now and then. Do you know who you remind me of? He laughed, and my heart skipped a bit, not because of what he had said but because of the dark flicker in his eyes.
"There is a guy to whom I have been giving everything he has wanted as long as he'll tell me what's going in my enemy's pack. At first, it was all good until he started regretting it. by questioning his loyalty toward his alpha. Do you know what I did to him?'' he asked, and I remained silent.
I knew that even if I said no to his question, he'd still say what he wanted to.
"I cooked him alive. In a pot of boiling oil. A murderous flicker covered his eyes, and his lips curled upward for a dangerous smirk.
I felt uncomfortable, so I responded. "It's Alpha Maseno's sister. I lied when responding to his question so that we could put that conversation behind us.
He swept his gaze across my face and then asked, "If it is Alpha Maseno's sister who Maria is taking care of, why did you take so long to tell me?''
"Because it wasn't necessary. I said it in a voice barely above a whisper. I could feel a painful lump blocking my windpipe. Tears, which I don't remember the last time I felt sting my eyes.
The reason why I was feeling all these unfamiliar emotions at once was unknown to me. "Can I go now? I asked him after I got a grip on myself. Before he could respond, his beta approached with a glass of wine in his hands.
"Alpha Benna told me that he didn't ask you to follow him. Why are you here? I asked, not wanting to engage in any conversation with Benna. I saw him through the side, furrowing his brows in confusion.
He didn't tell me about Beta Kelvin following him without his permission, but I had seen the shock in his face when he appeared at the door.
"He said that, huh? He winked and pulled up a chair to sit beside me. "And what are you doing here? Does Alpha Maseno know that you are the spy in his kingdom?" he asked back, making me feel uncomfortable.
The mischevious blink in his eyes, the mystery air around him, and his mysterious smile, which never reached his ears, always made me feel somehow watched.
"And does Alpha Benna know that one day you'll be the end of him? I asked back, not wanting to lose that conversation.
Alpha Benna chuckled, drifting our attention to him. ''If you guys could calm down, shake hands, and smile at each other, you'd be great friends. He suggested.
I snorted. There was no way in this life or the next that I would want to be friends with Beta Steven.
After Benna suggested that, Beta Steven turned to face me, grinning like a fool.
Before I could warn him against whatever he was planning in his head, he wrapped his arms around me, the sweet staleness of his tobacco enveloping me and causing my whole body to shiver.
It's like Alpha Benna had seen my body reacting to that because his next words confused me: "Watch out. He always has this thing that makes everyone get attracted to him sexually when he hugs them.'' He then chuckled in a serious way.
"I wonder what that means.'' I said this while trying to get Beta Steven to let go of me. He planted a wet kiss on my cheek and released me after patting my back. "Friends?" He then stretched his hands for a handshake.
"No way." I slapped his hand away, and he shrugged, looking at Alpha Benna. "I tried." Upon saying that, he walked out of there and returned to the bitch with whom he had earlier fucked the hell out of her.
"You wanted to leave? Alpha Benna asked me, and I nodded.
"You can leave. He said that, and I sighed in relief. "But," he continued, and I turned, looking at him. "I am watching you. Always be aware of that.'' He reminded me.
I nodded. "I know." I forced a smile on my face and walked out of the restaurant. I went straight to my car, where I took a packet of cigarettes from the backseat. I leaned against the car door and lit it.
I let my eyes roam around me and looked up at the sky, where the moon had shone. Stars were everywhere too, and they blinked every now and then. Halfway through the cigarette, I got bored and ended up throwing it on the ground.
I squashed it under my boots, hopped into my car, and took a drive back to the mansion, where I was anticipating a long, cold bath and a good night's sleep.
Reaching the gate, I saw the last person I had expected standing there and waiting for me.
