Alpha Maseno
I was at my office and on a video call having a discussion with our foreign investors when the guard from outside rushed in and interrupted the meeting.
I glared, causing him to bow his head and mumble sorry. The investors, on the other hand, were already furious and were complaining about my lack of work ethics. I narrowed my eyes at them and raised my hand to shush them. They silently leaned in their chairs, their shoulders slumping back. They remained silent, though they all pursed their lips in anger.
I couldn't blame them, though. I would have hated it when someone would end up talking to people in the background or pressing their phones when I was in a call with them. That's what I have been doing since the moment I started talking to them.
They were some things that Beta Kelvin had told me and had taken a troll on me. Although three months had passed and nothing had happened, I still couldn't stop myself from thinking deeper into all that. I used to tell myself that if I locked myself up in the office and let my brain get occupied with work, I wouldn't get much into them, but it was a complete lie.
Anytime I grab my laptop to work, the words he said echo in my head. I had come to the point where I decided to take what he had told me seriously and ask my men to look into it. Up until now, none of my men have approached me with evidence.
"Are we ever going to finish up with this meeting?" A frustrated voice asked from the other end. I jerked up my head at the voice and sighed. I had told them that we should conduct the meeting another day, but they insisted that we should get it done. They can't blame me.
A shadow beside me caught the corner of my eyes, and when I realized that the guard who had barged in was still there, I asked, “What did I say about walking in without a knock?“ I shiveled on the chair and turned to face him.
“I'm sorry, Alpha, but this is important." He didn't bow like he normally does, but he looked at me in the eye as if telling me how important that was. He ran his fingers through his hair and turned to look behind him while releasing frustrated sighs.
"Is what brought you in here more important than this meeting I am having here?“ I tilted my head to nod at the investors, but a blank laptop screen greeted me. "Damn." I sighed when I realized what had happened. The foreigners got pissed off and hung up. I really needed them for the project coming up. "I will try to talk to them much later." I made a mental note for myself.
“The importance of what made me barge in here is not beneficial, Alpha, but it needs your immediate care. This is serious. People lives are hanging on the thread of life and death." His voice sounded urgent, and the seriousness in his eyes didn't escape my eyesight either.
I rose from my seat and walked closer to him. “How dangerous?“ I asked, recalling the uncomfortable feeling I had woken up with today. I walked to grab my jacket on the couch and put it on. I flipped my working desk over, and a box full of guns came out. I picked up one and threw another to him.
“We are under attack. Although we have captured some of the men, a few are missing, and we are sure that they are already in the mansion.“
"Is anyone injured?" I asked, my hands still picking up guns from the box and throwing them towards the other five guards standing at the door. They had their own guns, but we always carried more in case we ran out of bullets.
"Yes." He responded.
"Who?"
"Miss Maria's bodyguard."
"What happened to him and how?" I asked while rubbing my palms against each other to wipe away invisible dust.
"He was outside to pluck out some fresh oranges for her when the commotion happened. He ran inside to see what was going on and found everyone being held hostage. He said he found one of the intrudes running after Maria, and when he tried to intervene, that's when he was shot in the leg." The guard explained.
"What of Maria? Did he succeed in helping her out? If yes, where is she? Have you kept her in a safe place? If not, take her to a secret room in the dungeon. No one will know that she is there. I want all of you to make sure that nothing happens to her or the child." I said this while strapping extra guns around my waist.
"Well, she.." The guard I was talking to trailed. I raised my head to look at him, but he turned his head to look at the other guards on the other side, who nodded at him as if urging him to spit out whatever he was having a doubt about saying.
“She what? Stop wasting time because we have lives to save.“ I furrowed my brows at him. I don't like it when someone wastes my time, and of course, I don't like it when they beat around the bush just like he was doing right now.
“Miss Maria is missing.“ He responded, and the gun in my hand slipped and clanged on the floor. The only thought that flooded in my head was whether my unborn baby was safe or not. Silence filled the room, my heart pounding so loudly as if it were either comforting me or taunting me.
I swallowed hard, suppressing the growl that was about to escape my lips. My wolf was mad, and so was I. After regaining myself, I turned to face the guards and asked, “What? How can she be missing? Did I not say that all of you should be at her door, standing guard, twenty-four? She is carrying my baby for god's sake; how can you all think that leaving her all alone is safe?“ I asked in disbelief.
"She has a personal bodyguard." One of the guards who was standing far away from the rest had the audacity to say that on my face. I walked to him and slapped him so hard across the face that he fell while spultering out blood.
"So what? If she has a personal bodyguard, will none of you take the liberty to take care of her? She is carrying your future alpha; don't you see that?" I turned to tongue-lashing all of them.
"Haven't I been telling all of you that Maria should be taken care of? How many times have I been singing that same thing?" I asked again, my voice calm and low. It was a good thing that Sony was not here; otherwise, he would have gone bersek by now.
The guards bowed their heads, indicating that they had nothing to say. “What was I expecting?“ I scoffed. “It seems like all of you have relaxed and are quite content with what you have been getting so far, haven't you? Maybe it's time I fired all of you."
They gasped. One of them stepped forward and said, "Alpha, we..."
"Don't Alpha me." I growled, and he stepped back, bowing his head. "I hope none of you have told Sony about what is going on here." I looked at them one by one, and when they nodded, I continued, "Good, bear in mind that he's not supposed to know what is going on here."
One of the guards looked at me. I raised my brow, indicating that he could say whatever he wanted to. "About Miss Maria, we..."
I raised my hand to stop him. "There is no need for more discussions. Let's go and see how far the other guards have fought." I led my way out of the office.
Gunshoot's and blood scent's were what welcomed me once I stepped out of my office. The guards who were left protecting people while the other six ran to me had done a good job. One of them yelled from behind a pillar, saying that almost all of them had run out of bullets. I threw the guns I had strapped to my waist to them as they made a coverup for me.
Once I was safe on the other side of the mansion, I turned to the guards sorrouding me and asked, How many men have you captured?"
"Six."
"Dead or alive?" I inquired while looking around because my wolf had smelled a new scent just around us. I was quick to turn and saw a man hiding behind the garden flowers, ready to jump on us. I lept over the flowers and yanked him by his arm. He wasn't expecting that because he jerked up, panic clouding his face.
I dug my nails deep into his flesh, causing him to yell in pain. My eyes shone, my sadistic nature taking over. I extended my claws and dug them much deeper into his hand until they came out of the other end. The smell of blood filled my nostrils, and I found myself pulling him to stand on his feet from his squating position and sinking my teeth into his neck.
I growled in satisfaction as the blood came into contact with my taste buds. It has been a long time since I sucked blood. No, that's a lie. I drink blood anytime I get intimate with Sony because my orgasms make me lose my mind, and I always end up digging my fangs into his neck and sucking his blood to my satisfaction. That's different, though. It can't be counted, right? This time I was drinking my enemies blood, and my wolf couldn't help but growl from the deepest part of my throat, satisfied with our prey.
"Please..please." The man begged, trying to take my grip off him, but he was bearing no fruit. His pleas and whimpers only fueled my desire to toy with him. I threw him on the ground, hovered over him, and slashed my sharp claws on his chest. He screamed one last time before I pierced my claws on the left side of his chest and ripped his heart out.
"Yummy." I grinned evilly as I raised my heart and saw how red and wet it was because of the blood. To satisfy my wolf's hunger, I took a large bite from it and completely shut myself out to let my wolf savor the taste.
"I asked, dead or alive?" I turned to ask my men, who stood frozen on their steps as if they had never seen me devouring a human.
"We will just never get used to this." I heard one of them whisphering to the other's as he had read my thoughts.
"Uh. Alive, alpha." They said it in unison.
"Have you interrogated them and asked who sent them? What about Maria? Have you asked them about where they have hidden her?" I asked while getting off the dead man on the ground and wiping my bloody lips with the back of my hand.
“Not yet, Alpha, but we tied and locked them down. They are at the dungeon." One of them responded.
“What are we waiting for then? Let's get to them.“ I said that and walked past them to the dungeon.
-------
I found six men, cuffed and forced to sit on the ground, looking up at the guards who had sorrouded them and giving them smirky looks.
“Who sent you, and where is Maria?“ I asked calmly, trying to maintain my demeanor.
One of them smirked, looked up at me, and then said, "We can't tell. No matter what you do.“
“Oh really?“ I asked, a smirk playing on my lips. I turned over my shoulder and nodded to one of my men, who quickly understood what I wanted.
He reached out to his back pocket and handed over a gun to me. “Let's see if you won't say anything even after this.“ I took a shot at his right leg.
He screamed while blood ozzed out of his leg and made a small stream on the floor. “You said you wouldn't talk, huh?“ I raised my brow at him.
"I'll talk now. I promise, just don't kill me," he begged, remorse evident in his eyes.
“It's too late for that.“ I smirked and shot him straight on the left side of his chest.
“Well, what about you guys? Will you start talking or should I fire?“ I raised my gun at the remaining five.
