Alpha Benna
The red truck drove in, and I quickly approached it. As I got closer, I noticed the driver's window was rolled down. Curiosity piqued, and I leaned in to see who was behind the wheel. It was indeed Alpha Maseno's men. How quick they had arrived at my pack.
My wolf suggested, "There is a possibility that the truck was already making its way to you when he called."
"Possibly." I nodded.
The two drivers in the front seat jumped out, and without saying a word to me, they made their way to the back of the truck and pulled the door open, revealing bags and bags of black sacks.
I followed them, stood two steps away from them, and squinted my eyes at the sacks, trying to guess what they had carried. The sacks were tightly packed and seemed heavy, hinting at valuable cargo.
It's like one of the men had my thoughts because he turned his head and looked at me over his shoulder, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "Valuable cargo ideed," he turned to his fellow and high-fived him as he said these words.
I pressed my lips in annoyance and pushed my bodyguard away when he made the decision to attack them for disrespecting me. I knew that engaging in a physical altercation would only escalate the situation further, so I took a deep breath and chose to ignore their taunts, focusing instead on the mystery of the sacks and what secrets they held.
They pulled them out of the truck, groaning at their heavy weights, and mercilessly dropped them onto the ground. The sound of the sacks hitting the pavement echoed through the air, catching the attention of everyone nearby.
“What the hell is that?“ I moved backwards in question when painful groans echoed from deep within the sacks. They can't be people in there, can they? I asked myself, my eyes widening in shock. The mystery deepened as the sacks wriggled and squirmed, as if something alive was trapped inside, desperate to escape.
“Why don't you see for yourself, you goddamned freaking bastard?" One of the drivers spat the insult at me; his eyes rolled toward heaven.
“Yeah, I am sure by now you have taken a guess, haven't you?“ The other smirked, his thick left brow with a line cut on it raised.
I shook my head and decided to ignore them. After they were done dragging out more than fifteen sacks, they hopped back into their truck and sped away, leaving me alone with the mysterious wriggling sacks. Curiosity got the better of me, and against my better judgment, I cautiously approached the nearest sack to investigate its contents.
"Wait, we'll do it." The bodygoards who had accompanied me when going out took the liberty to open the sacks. I turned my head to look at all of them, and they nodded, nudging me to step away from the sacks.
Reluctantly, I heeded their advice and took a few steps back, my heart pounding with anticipation. One of the guards carefully opened the first sack, and a pungent odor filled the air, making me crinkle my nose in disgust.
A painful groan emitted from the opened sack, confirming my worst fears. They were indeed people trapped inside the sacks. My stomach churned as I struggled to comprehend the horrifying reality before me. The guards exchanged grim glances, their expressions mirroring my own shock and disbelief.
"Who the hell is in there?" I asked, my fingers pressed to cover my nostrils, a gagging feeling wanting to take over me.
The guards looked at each other and stepped backward, bringing the man in the sack closer to the light. As the dim glow illuminated his face, I gasped in recognition. It was one of my men I had sent to attack Alpha Maseno, his eyes filled with desperation and fear. The realization hit me like a punch to the gut.
“The fuck I am looking at!" I gasped and stared at him. "Open all the damned sacks!" I demanded, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and concern. The guards hesitated for a moment before reluctantly obeying, revealing a row of familiar faces, all bearing the same expression of desperation and fear.
My heart sank.
They were bloody wounded, and it seemed like their souls were about to desert them.
“What the heck? I thought…” I trailed, digging my hands into my trouser pockets to pull out my phone.
“Alpha, John isn't among these men.“ One of the guards raised his head to look at me. John was the headguard and my most trusted man.
“I know,” I responded, finally pulling my phone from the back pocket and giving him a call.
He didn't pick up the phone, which he never did since he always picked up my phone on the first ring. I took a deep breath and paced around, panic washing over me. I tried calling him again, but there was still no answer. The guards exchanged worried glances as I frantically searched for any sign of John's whereabouts.
Aside from Kiara, John knew all my secrets. If he was in the hands of that bastard, then I am done. I mean, I am already panicking and searching for Kiara, for whom I am so sure that it's Maseno who is keeping her, and I can't afford for him to have one more of my weaknesses.
“Try calling John; I'll see if Dr. Kedeva can help me pull him out of Maseno's kingdom.“ I turned to tell the guard standing close to me.
He shook his head in denial and then responded, "I don't think Maseno has him. He might have hidden somewhere when the others were caught.“
“He would have accepted my phone and told me if that was the case. He isn't responding clearly enough that he is caught,” I snapped at him, then bit my lower lip to calm my nerves. It wasn't the perfect time to get mad at each other. We needed to work together to find him.
“Sorry about that." I ran my fingers through my hair and then told him again, Please do call him. Just to be sure.“ He nodded and bowed his head to look at his phone while I excused myself to go call Dr. Kedeva.
He picked on the first ring, something I liked about him.
“What's the present?“ His curious voice was heard through the speaker phone. I heard him take a deep breath before continuing. "I thought that you'd never call and tell me what Alpha Maseno is sending over to you. Is it something important?“
“It's my men.“ I replied, a painful lump forming in my throat. "Alpha Maseno sent my own men to me as a gift."
"What? You are kidding, dude." He exclaimed in disbelief.
"I am not lying, Kedeva. I never do." I responded.
"So, what are you going to do?" He asked.
"I'm not sure yet," I admitted, my voice filled with uncertainty. "Having my own men here is complicated."I need to figure out how to handle this situation without causing any further conflict." I responded.
And it's true, I really didn't want to cause any other conflict between me and Alpha Maseno. Having my men tied up in sacks like that was evident enough. Oh God! I sighed, running my fingers through my now-tangled hair.
"I need your help, Kedeva." I finally said
"What? How can I be of help to you?" He asked, confusion evident in his voice. "I'm just a regular pack member, not a leader like you."
I went directly to the problem at hand without beating around the bush. "John is missing. I want you to go back to the pack and help him out in case Alpha Maseno has him, please. I can't afford to have him gone, knowing that he knows more about me."
I heard him take a deep sigh before finally responding. "You do know that Alpha Maseno assigned me a task out of the pack. Going back, I wouldn't be allowed inside."
"Please, Kedeva." I pleaded. "You can go back. Fake that you have forgotten an important file and you really need it. Please. Do anything; just help me figure out if John is caught."
"I can't, Benna. Can't you understand that? I also warned you against having your men create chaos over there, knowing that Masebo can catch them." He said it, frustration evident in his voice. "If I go back now, it will only raise suspicion and put both of us at risk."
"Is that a no, Kedeva?" I asked in a low voice.
"No, it's not. It's just that I..."
I cut him off. "Go back to that damned kingdom and see if John is there, doctor Kedeva, because believe me, if you won't, then I won't be going down alone. I'll be left with no choice but to tell Maseno everything. I'll let him know how bad of a friend you are.
And, oh, I think what he'll like most is the fact that the person he's grown up calling a brother, even though they aren't blood related, is the one who killed his mother. How does that sound, doctor Kedeva?" I smirked, even though I knew he couldn't see me.
"We haven't reached there, Alpha Benna, have we?" I heard him asking.
"If I were you, I'd take the right decision." Upon saying this, I hung up without waiting for him to say a word.
Do you think Doctor Kedeva will take Alpha Benna's side and help John out, or will he not? Let me know in the comment box.
