Alpha Benna
"What do you see?" I asked the man standing beside me with a pair of binoculars in front of his eyes.
"They are talking to someone, he responded.
I scoffed. "Talking to someone? Doesn't he have a name?"
He bowed his head. "Sorry, Alpha Benna, I'll zoom in to see the figure's face." He lifted the pair of binoculars back in front of his eyes.
"Not just the figures, but everything. Let me know what's in the surrounding areas. Any movement, anything." I stood on my feet, sipping the wine I was holding.
"There are men. A group of men and women. Doctors and soldiers, judging from the way they are dressed and the figure lurking around is..." He trailed
"Who is the figure?" I asked while snatching the binoculars from his hands. "This son of a demon! What is he doing there?" I asked no one in particular.
"I think he spotted a movement in his territory, and that's why he is there." The figure shrugged while taking the binoculars from me.
"Mmh, that makes me worried." I said, my voice dropping into a whisper. "If she gets her before me..."
"General Sakin," I said, turning to the figure. He was sitting on the couch with a glass of wine close to his lips.
"I want you to take the military force with you. Go back there and see what that little devil is up to. In case his team has already found Yezus, make sure you come back with her. Whether dead or alive!" I demanded.
Grabbing the pair of binoculars from the table, I returned my focus to the people ahead of me.
Yes, Alpha," he bowed, and he walked away from there to the military camp.
I watched as they hopped into the green military jets and flew out of the gate into the desert.
I didn't leave from the balcony, though; I stood there watching everything go on. Even after my military arrived and approached that son of a devil and engaged in a conversation I didn't hear,
My heart thumped with anticipation as I watched my military, hoping they would find Yezus and bring her with them to the mansion.
She was important, not only to me, but she would be to the devil's son and other alphas out there if they were to find her.
The only way I would be at peace is if she came back alive or dead.
I also didn't want to anger the few alpha friends I had reconnected with.
Because Yezus is now aware of what acts I involve myself in, together with those Alpha friends, they'll get mad when they learn she escaped.
A war may even start between us, something that I didn't want to happen.
I went back to the table and grabbed another bottle of wine while I waited for the general's call.
Before he left, I had asked him to call me in case he found her.
I took my phone out of my pocket and looked at it for the tenth time, but there were no calls or new notifications.
I sighed and refreshed the notification center, but there was nothing. I paced around, finished the glass of wine I was holding, and picked up the binoculars again.
"What the fuck?" I cursed after I saw what was happening from the other end.
Although the medical jet I had seen there earlier had already flown away, the son of the devil remained.
I watched him take to the general Sakin as curses escaped my mouth for not checking in time. How was I now going to know what was on the plane?
A conversation that I am sure took a minute ended, and I saw General Sakin leading the other soldiers back to their own jets.
"What the hell?" I cursed again, throwing the pair of binoculars away. All that time I stood there, thinking they would come back with Yezus, but I wasted my time." I kicked the glass table where I had put the bottle of wine and glass, injuring my toe in the process.
I winced, limping back to my office, but after making sure I had crushed the table by smashing the bottle of wine on it, I broke both of them into pieces.
My fingers bled, but I cared less. I stormed to my office, kicked the door open with my uninjured leg, and walked in.
A figure standing at the window and backing me startled me to the guts.
I cleared my throat to get the figures attention.
"Alpha Benna," the person called, running to me after she saw my fingers bleeding.
"How many times should I tell you that you are not allowed to get in here when I am not around Mariana?" I asked instead, pulling my hands away from hers.
"Uh, sorry, Alpha. I only came to talk to you, but you were not in. Just now that you found me standing beside the window, I was trying to see if you were at the garden," she bowed her head while biting her lower lip.
"What do you want?" I asked her, pulling the two shards of glass that had stuck on my index finger and had resulted in the bleeding.
"I... sorry. It's because of my carelessness that Miss Kiara ran away," she apologized, her lower lips trembling.
"Sorry?" I scoffed. "You couldn't do such a simple job, Mariana. I only told you not to let her slip away until I got back; what did you do?" I walked closer to her and grabbed her neck.
That movement put pressure on my bleeding fingers because a shard that I didn't know was still stuck in there dug much deeper, causing me to let go of her neck as I jumped, wincing in pain.
The pain was so deep and intense that my whole body shook from it.
"Get out of here, dimwit!" I lashed out and kicked her in the butt. She fell on her face as whimpers escaped her lips.
"Just get out of here before I kill you." I growled, and she picked herself up from the floor as she ran out of the office.
"Do you think you are the only one in pain?" I asked after she was gone while blowing air from my mouth.
The pain was not only intense on my fingers but on my toes too because it was the same leg I had used to kick her with.
Because I had no one to vent my anger to,I turned on the things on the table. I grabbed the files and whacked them against the wall.
I turned to the papers on the table and threw them away. The glasses followed, then the computers, and then the phones.
A knock at the door stopped me. Walking over the mess I had created, I went to see who was there.
"What did I say, Mariana? I am not..." I trailed off, looking at the figure.
I unconsciously ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. "Get in." I asked the person.
"You want Mariana? Should I go and call her for you?" The person asked while still behind the door.
"No, just get the fuck in." I said, annoyance pressing on my voice.
Instead of coming to the couch where I had motioned him to sit, the figure bent over the ground, picking papers and arranging them on the files.
I left him on his own and walked to the fridge, where I pulled out a bottle of red wine.
"Leave the remaining papers. Mariana will pick them up." I told the figure who stood, dusted his hands, and walked to sit beside me with a gray file clutched under his arm.
"Who said I was picking up the papers? Did you think I was doing the cleaning for you? It's only because I needed this file, or else I would have never bended over there and hurt my back." He scoffed.
"Fine. At least join in to celebrate my failure." I raised a glass of wine for a cheer while handing the other one to him.
"Cheers to your loss!" He smirked, clicking his glass with mine. "Seriously, Benna," he said, turning to look at the mess on the floor. "Don't tell me it's Kiara who made you go berserk. Are you perhaps in love with her?" He asked, his intense gaze sweeping over me as if looking for any traces of lies.
"What?! No, what makes you think I am in love with Yezus?" I asked him, almost chocking on my drink. How could he think such a thing?
"If you don't, then let her go." He paused, waiting for his words to sink into my brain while drumming his fingers on the table. A smirk curled on his lips.
If it were not that he was my beta, I would have slapped him hard across the cheek and wiped that smirk off.
"I don't like your I don't care attitude." I admitted it, pressing my lips into a thin line. "It makes me think that you knew she would escape."
He smirked, took a sip, and after swallowing it, he said, "It's high time you let her go. Don't you think?" He leaned backward to rest his back on the chair's backrest while simultaneously crossing his left leg above the other.
"What's wrong with you, Kelvin? I have fucking told you many times already that I am not letting her go." I said the last six words through gritted teeth to emphasize how serious I was.
"Fine! Don't let her go." He raised his hands as if agreeing that I had defeated him, the stupid smirk still playing on his face.
"You are here to make fun of me, aren't you?" I asked while watching him closely. He looked damn suspicious.
"No, I am not here to make fun of you. I came to pick up this file, and you invited me for a glass of wine. I couldn't say no, could I?" He asked while filling his glass for the third time.
"You've got good taste when it comes to wine, by the way." He winked and puckered his lips as the wine touched his tongue.
I chuckled. "And what's that supposed to mean?" I asked, sipping on the last drop of wine from my glass.
Before he could answer, the door was knocked on. "We will get back to this," I mouthed to him as he walked away to open the door.
He winked, blew a kiss to me, and walked out of the office after letting General Sakin in. I chuckled, wondering if he liked men or women.
He always gave me the vibe that he liked men, and if it weren't for the girls who clung to his side every night, I would have thought he was gay.
"Any information?" I changed my tone to a serious one.
"Uh, there is no girl." He said this while walking to the seat Beta Kelvin had occupied earlier.
"I know that already. Anything else?" I asked him while putting the glass of wine away.
"Uh,no," he said, shaking his head in denial.
"No?" I asked, looking at him in his eyes, "What about that son of a devil? What was he doing there?" I asked.
"He was supervising his team of soldiers as they cleared the landmines and detached the suicide bombers hidden under them." He explained.
"Mhh," I nodded, while playing with my fingers, "what about the doctor's? Don't tell me they are experts when it comes to detonating the bombers." I smirked at him.
"They were carried just in case. We all know that Alpha Maseno is an organized person, and he cares for the wellbeing of his workers." He responded without batting an eyelash.
"I see," I nodded, "you have answers to every question. You must have planned this well." I smirked.
"Absolutely no Alpha; there was no sign of the girl. In fact, when I asked him if he had her, he was confused." He said.
"Did you threaten him? Like he would get scared!" I hissed at my own words. I knew how arrogant and all-knowing this little devil was.
"Yes," he bubled his head up and down in agreement, " I told him you said we will run an investigation to see if he is hiding her." He poured a glass of wine for himself.
"And?" I inquired.
"Well, he said we are free to do it." He chuckled.
"Yeah, I wasn't expecting otherwise." I sighed thinking of a way I would get to find Yezus.
"When you go out, call beta Kelvin for me. We have an unfinished conversation. And yes, ask Mariana to bring her ass in here and clean this place." I told him when he stood to leave.
"Where would beta Kelvin find you?" He grinned.
"My room,"upon saying that, I walked out of the office to my room.
