Chapter Thirty Two
'We didn't see it coming, it wasn't part of the plan. Oh death! why hath thou unsheathed thy claws?'

Kadin
His hand clutched on to the picture he had of his wife, it was the one that had been taken the day his daughter had been named. Once upon a time, it had been unbearable to look at the picture but now he couldn't help the smile that formed on his lips.
"We're going out in a couple of minutes, the boys are ready" Aliu informed as he entered the room with a bottle of wine.
Kadin turned "It's over Aliu" Kadin muttered. His eyes were shining with pride.
"The cat and mouse chase is officially over, I'll give her the crown though. We combed through Lagos and we couldn't find her. Changing her name was a smart move, you married a wise woman" Aliu said with a small smile.
"Indeed, she outsmarted us but it will never happen again" Kadin frowned, his leash on her would get tighter. When he got her back, the first thing he'd do would be to knock her up and tie her down with another child.
'Let's see how she'll escape that' he thought.
"You do know that Hassana is married to another man, keeping her won't be so easy this time" Aliu reminded.
Kadin frowned, he didn't want to think about that but it was inevitable anyway.
His lips curled in disgust at the thought of his wife laying with another man as she had lain with him.
"That marriage is a sham, Amanda Arinze is non existent. Whatever documents that bind their marriage is null" Kadin said.
Aliu sighed "Boss, they have a daughter. You mustn't forget that" Aliu reminded him.
Kadin's eyes glittered "do you know what that means Aliu?" Kadin asked prompting Aliu to shake his head.
"Leverage, I will be able to control Hassana because of that bastard. She'll do anything I want if she wants the little rat to live" Kadin scowled.
Aliu smiled "If that's the case, then we should celebrate. You have won the game" Aliu said.
Kadin grunted in disagreement "No, I have not truly won until I stare into the eyes of my treacherous wife" He said.
"I will bring her back to you boss. You have nothing to worry about" Aliu smirked and handed Kadin the bottle of wine and a wine glass.
"You need the drink to ease off a bit of the tension before she gets here, trust me" Aliu said.
Kadin took the bottle of wine and the tumbler without saying anything. Aliu let out a tiny breath, he had to do what needed to be done now.
He turned to leave the room but Kadin's next words halted his steps. "You've proved to be the most resourceful and loyal. When we return home, we'll talk about the terms of your freedom" Kadin murmured.
Aliu smiled, "I'm most grateful boss, I won't fail you" Aliu said before leaving the room.

Mayfair Estate,
Lagos.
Denola.
The Dame was the only one he acknowledged when he came downstairs the next day.
Jadesola was downstairs in the lounge but she refused to look at him as he sat beside her.
His mother on the other hand was no where to be seen.
The Dame had informed him the minute he stepped into the lounge that his father had gone to see the commissioner of police.
"Did you sleep well omo mi?" The Dame asked caressing his head.
Denola enjoyed her comfort but it did nothing to calm the storm that brewed within him.
"What do you think grannie?" he asked her in a defeated voice.
The Dame sighed and turned to Jadesola "Have you greeted your brother this morning?" she asked.
Jadesola shook her head in a childlike manner and turned to Denola "Good morning" she murmured.
Denola met her eyes "What's so good about this morning sister?" he asked her coldly.
Jadesola's lips parted but she said nothing else.
Dame Mayfair knew immediately that she had to take matters into her hand. "Denola enough of that. You have to forgive, it'll be hard but it's the best option. Not just Jadesola and your mother but Amanda too" Dame Mayfair advised.
Denola let out a bitter chuckle "Don't you mean Hassana, her name is not Amanda is it?" Denola asked looking directly at his sister again who squirmed in her seat.
"The poor girl has been through a lot already. And poor Kamila hasn't slept in her own bed. Did you think about her at all, where is your wife and daughter Denola?" The Dame asked a little worried.
Denola shrugged "Kamila is safe with Davina as for my so called wife.....I don't care about her whereabouts. In a few hours I'll be jetting out of the country with Kamila, if she doesn't want to come that's her business" Denola responded harshly.
The Dame refused to take that "How can you talk like that, Kamila needs both you and her mother. I suggest you make amends with Amanda regardless of the sins of her past, I will not condone a divorce in this family. Never, not when I'm alive" The Dame said furious.
Denola was about to reply her when someone rushed into the lounge. Jadesola sat up when she saw the distressed look on Hakeem's face.
"What's wrong?" she asked getting up immediately and walking over to him..
Hakeem looked at Denola warily before turning back to Jadesola. "Aliu called me some minutes ago. There was a car crash and there were no survivors..." he began.
Denola frowned and looked up at the man he'd thought to be his best friend till he found out that he'd also been keeping secrets from him.
"And then what?!" Jadesola probed impatiently.
"Kadin's goons had been drunk driving and they ran off the road. I don't even know how the accident happened but something terrible has happened" Hakeem said anguished.
"What?" This time it was The Dame who was impatient.
"I don't know how else to say this, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but They'd somehow gotten Amanda in the car with them before the accident" Hakeem said.
Denola shot up immediately, took long strides to Hakeem and gripped his cloth. "What the fuck did you say? He asked his eyes boring into Hakeem's own.
"Denola I'm sorry, the car went up in flames" Hakeem murmured.
Denola laughed mockingly "She's with Davina, she couldn't have gone to her ex. She's safe, she's with Davina and Kamila" Denola said in disbelief.
Hakeem shook his head "Aliu was certain that she was in the car, those men had been sent to abduct her. Kadin's orders" Hakeem said.
Denola let go off his shirt and staggered. "No...No..No!" he said walking backwards till his back hit the wall.
The Dame clutched her chest, head bent and sobbed silently. This couldn't be happening.
Jadesola on the other hand fell to her knees and screamed. "Nooooooo!" she kept on screaming loudly.
She wouldn't be able to live with the guilt, she couldn't possibly....
"Nooooo!"
Atalia rushed out to the lounge after one of the helps came to inform her that there was trouble in the lounge.
Her heart skipped as she met Denola stuck in a daze, the Dame sobbing and Jadesola who wouldn't stop screaming.
"Nooooo!" she screamed again and looked at her mother.
"What have we done mother, what have we done? We brought them here mother, I brought them here and now she's gone" Jadesola said, her voice was raw from all the screaming.
Atalia's heart sank into the pits of her stomach. "What are you talking about, who is gone?" she asked quietly even though she could almost guess the answer.
"Amanda, she's...she's..." Jadesola broke into sobs unable to finish her sentence.
Atalia summed it up herself. Oh God no, What had they done?
What had they done?!!!
