Chapter 7
Chapter 7
There’s 21 Divine Arts in this world.
7 Divine Sword Arts, 7 Divine Magic Arts and 7 Divine Martial Arts.
There are two ways for someone to learn a divine art; the first is to read it.
A good number of them are written in ancient scrolls scattered across the world, hidden in dungeons, ruins or some other yet to be discovered place.
The rulers of almost all countries have at least one scroll under lock and key in their castles.
The moment anyone lays eyes on what’s written on the scrolls, the knowledge of the divine art instantly gets transplanted into your brain and you’ll automatically know how to use that divine art even if you don’t know jack shit about how to use mana; hell you’d be able to do it even if you didn’t have a single drop of mana in you.
You’d think everyone who owns a divine scroll would be rushing to read it, but each scroll is one time use and there’s also the fact that anyone who tries to read it only has a 1.7% chance of learning it and if you fail your brain and other insides disintegrates, so using one is basically one of the suicide methods of all time.
The second way for someone to learn a divine art is by being lucky enough that it randomly pops into your head without reason; yes, this actually happens too.
No one knows why or how it happens; it just does, they started calling it “gaining insight”; tons of people have written papers explaining their theories behind it so now instead of searching for scrolls that will 98.3% kill you most people just decide to do the dumbest shit and call it training like eating dirt for a whole year, wear nothing for a whole year, meditating inside an active volcano, meditating underwater while you drown, cutting off your own dick or drinking your own urine along with tons of other dumb shit all in the hopes of gaining insight and what makes it worse is that a very small percent of those people actually did gain insight.
Anyways, Zary was right about me having a Divine art; well to be more precise, I Have two of them; one divine Martial art and one divine Sword art.
They popped into my head the same time the memories of this body did.
The 7th Divine Martial Art – [Heavenly Body] and the 1st Divine Sword Art – [Rend}
The [Heavenly Body] seems to be passive; thanks to it I got the Invincible TS body I never asked for, not that I’m complaining about the strength.
[Rend] is what I used on the dungeon, it seems to work on everything and anything.
Whatever it’s not like I plan on telling anyone that I have 2 of them; though I didn’t plan on telling anyone that I had any at all in the first place.
And yet.
“Kurai~.”
“…”
“You’ll fight me won’t you~?”
“You’re too close”
“I’ll move if you agree to fight me again, with real swords this time.”
“What are those two doing over there?”
“Oh, how indecent~.”
“Say that without smiling next time.”
“Is the hero cheating on the saintess?”
“What delusions are you having?”
“Yeah, quit shipping your classmates!”
So, they do that in this world too
“With the saintess’ personality only someone who’s blindly in love with her would spend as much time with her as the hero does.”
“She’s been in her room for a month; what time did you see them spending together?”
“Just because we didn’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen!”
“Cope”
“The saintess and the hero are girlfriends I tell you!
That red head is a home wrecker!”
“Quit shouting before they hear you.”
I looked at Zary.
“Are you and her-”
“No!”
“Why’s your face red?”
“Still your imagination!”
“Still not moving?”
“Agree to fight me again first.”
Outside Zary’s line of sight, a rock thrown by the teacher came flying at breakneck speed towards the back of her head.
Without turning around, she caught the rock with her left hand; the ground cracked below her feet and there was steam coming from the hand that caught it.
“No distracting students who haven’t completed the task.”
Zary tossed the rock away and sat on the ground a few feet away staring in my direction without saying anything.
“Thought you’d try to fight the teacher.”
“I’m only in the mood for you right now.”
“...”
“You know what I meant.”
“..If I ever learn how to use mana well enough to walk on water and wrap it around swords I’ll agree to fight you then.”
Zary quickly rose to her feet.
“No take backs.”
She jumped towards the water and landed beside Mira this time.
“Yo, Mira you can control other people’s mana just by touching them, right?”
“What of it?”
Zary pointed at me.
“Can you control the mana in her body to make her walk on water so she can memorise the feeling?”
“I refuse.”
“Huh? Why?”
“I’m the one who should be asking why.
Why should I help her?”
“Because she’s our roommate.”
“…”
“…I’ll give you my silver coin.”
“Fine.”
After collecting Zary’s silver coin, Mira walked up to me and without saying anything grabbed my left hand with her right.
I felt something inside me moving out of my control; a piece of that something started leaking out and gathering around my shoes.
Mira walked towards the water dragging me along.
She walked on the water still dragging me and surprisingly I was actually walking on it too.
My 9-year-old past self who yelled Rasengan! while slapping my classmates above their stomachs after watching Naruto for the first time would be so proud.
“Alright, now that you know how the mana feels try it on your own.”
After saying that, Mira let go of my hand and the mana inside me started to leave my feet.
Before I could sink to the bottom of the water, I jumped out before the water could reach my ankles.
After I landed on the grass Mira looked at me as if I was something pathetic.
…Well, that look isn’t bad either.
After she turned away, I closed my eyes and tried to move the mana inside me exactly how she did, and surprisingly it moved exactly how I wanted it to.
[Heavenly Body] for the win!
I stepped on the water without hesitation and walked across it as if I was walking on land.
I caught the silver coin the teacher threw at me and stood before Zary and Mira.
“Thanks”
“Hmph”
“So, this means you’ll fight me, right?”
“Fine, I’ll fight you after school”
“YES!”
Zary jumped up cheering with both hands in the air.
When she landed back on the water it started to undulate throwing off the balance of some of the other students on it.
Some managed to keep their balance, some lost control of their mana and fell under water while others fell headfirst into the water while their feet wrapped in mana were still firmly attached to the water’s surface.
I handed my silver coin to Zary.
“Since you spent yours to help me.”
“It’s fine; a fight with you will be enough payment.”
“Take the coin or no fight.”
She grabbed the coin.
After 30 minutes, everyone in the class was now standing firmly on the water’s surface.
The teacher stood before us and spoke.
“Since some of you were having trouble balancing when the water shook, for the remainder of the class you’re all practicing your balance.”
“Wait teacher!”
But she didn’t wait.
She started emitting mana that sent waves of the water flying in all directions.
The water now looked like the sea during a storm.
Almost everyone got sent flying or fell under the water.
Even Zary a Mira were waving their arms trying to keep their balance this time while the bum saintess stood completely still with her arms crossed without being moved by the waves.
I wrapped my whole body in mana and lay down on the water letting it toss me around like a trampoline.
Mira looked at me incredulously while Zary immediately fallowed my lead, after a while so did the bum saintess.
Mira looked at the 3 of us with a blank look on her face.
“Childish.”
She says as she joins us.
By the end of the class no one was able to keep their balance on the raging waves; well, me and the saintess could but didn’t.
We’ll continue this the next time you all have my class until every last one of you is able to stand still on the water weather it’s moving or not.
After that we all headed to the cafeteria for our one and only free meal of the day.
This time Mira was walking with the three of us and the saintess was actually walking on her own feet.
“Wonder what we’ll get.”
“Don’t know. It’s almost always something different.
Yesterday it was six slices of bread and blue butter”
“…Blue?”
“Yeah, apparently it’s from the demon continent.”
Zary glanced at Mira while saying that.
“Does it taste any different from regular butter?”
“It actually tastes better somehow.”
