Chapter 107: The Challenge and Explanation
After ending the contact with Nate, I let out a heavy sigh. What he told me changed my mind. I had only a choice now: to capture or kill Bill. If I still let him free, he would be a threat to Anna and maybe also to our twins. Besides, how he got our former Elders to do a treachery was beyond my comprehension. My father treated the Elders well, even maybe too well. So, I didn’t get why they could betray our pack.
Our Zeta contacted me. ‘Alpha, will we move now? Will we use the first or second strategy?’
‘The first strategy,’ I said. ‘Wait for a couple of minutes. I want to attack them when it is darker.’
‘Yes, Alpha. Understand.’
The first strategy was I would challenge Bill and would tackle him down. If his people didn’t move, we would only bring him to our dungeon. Otherwise, if he fought and was killed, we would bury him. Then I would announce Nate as their new Alpha.
While in the second strategy, we would kill anyone who tried to stop us. Though I already told our Zeta and Etas my plan, as I would hand over the Hurricane Dawn Pack to Nate, I gave a precaution to them not to harm Lisa, the Elders, she-wolves, teens, and pups. Nate would need all the support he could get.
That’s why I preferred the first strategy to the second one. It would be less bloodshed and quicker. Since in two days’ time I would have my marking ceremony, the faster I could finish this confrontation, the better. Thinking about Anna would be our Luna soon brought a smile to my lips.
I took time to calm myself and focused on the upcoming fight. Then I contacted the Zeta. ‘We will move now.’
Soon, I could see the Zeta and Etas ran to the high wall that became the Hurricane Dawn Pack’s defense. They climbed it easily, and in a few seconds, they could enter the pack. I could see them handling the gate guards in a few minutes. Later, the gate was opened.
My driver, who had been waiting outside of the car, opened the door for me. I walked through the gate and our warriors accompanied me. The Zeta walked beside me. That was when I saw a few she-wolves notice us coming. However, they didn’t scream or do anything to stop us. As if they expected us to come.
Then I growled as hard as possible to alert Bill and the Hurricane Dawn Pack’s pack members. “Alpha Bill, I come here to challenge you. Come quickly to the field,” I shouted.
Soon, the pack members filled the field. However, none of them tried to stop us. Some she-wolves even bowed at me, as if I were their leader. Then I heard a scream from my back. A werewolf tried to attack me, but my warriors had anticipated it and killed the werewolf in no time.
“Alpha Bill, where are you? Are you too coward to face me?” I shouted again, taunting Bill to face me. I couldn’t wait to give him an unforgettable lesson. He had tried to harm my mate twice. I wouldn’t forgive him.
Then Bill strolled and clapped slowly. “Alpha Cameron, what a nerve you have to come to my pack! Challenging me? On what basis?” He sneered at me and my warriors.
“On what basis?” I repeated his words. “On what basis?!” I growled and squinted my eyes. “Have you lost your mind? You tried to rape my mate, and then you contacted my pack member to kidnap her!”
“Ah … it’s our personal case, not our pack business. Is it necessary for you to bring your warriors?”
One of my Etas moved forward, but I growled. “Stop and go back to your position.”
The Eta stopped, but he growled at Bill. After bowing his head at me, the Eta returned to his position. Bill was good at provoking people but I wouldn’t let him do more.
“As an Alpha, you have shown your incompetence. How could you risk our peace treaty by trying to rape my mate, collaborating with my people to betray me, and kidnapping my mate?” I glared at him. “You can choose any she-wolves you want. I believe any she-wolves here would feel honored to be your Luna. But why must you want mine?”
Bill laughed and clapped again. “Bravo! You are good at throwing faults at me.” He rubbed his chin. “Let’s see. You tricked my sister to be your Luna, but then you broke your relationship and sent her back to us heartbroken. You even asked your foster brother to mate with her. Are you even an honorable werewolf to do it to her?”
His words stirred his people because it was a disgrace for them too to have Lisa back there. A werewolf stepped forward and shouted, “Alpha Cameron, is it true what Alpha Bill said? Did you do all that?”
I let out a sigh. “I will explain now.” Looking around to ensure I got their attention, I continued my words. “I declined the marking ceremony with Beta Lisa, well, Delta Lisa, back then, because I already had a mistress. However, as we agreed to have a peace treaty and used a marking ceremony as the start, we proposed my foster brother, Nathanael Thorn, to be Lisa’s mate instead.”
I took a deep breath and let my words sink first in these people’s minds. Then I continued, “My brother agreed, and both of us came here. I explained everything, and Lisa and Nate got their wolves to confirm that they were mates. So, I thought it solved everything. However ….”
“However?” a she-wolf asked, encouraging me to continue. Everyone listened to my explanation now.
“However, Lisa’s father drugged her until her memory messed up. Lisa already accepted Nate as her mate and mated with him that night, however after being drugged, Lisa thought it was I who mated with her.”
Some she-wolves gasped and shook their heads. I let out a sigh. “Then Lisa’s father threatened Nate to end their relationship and pushed me to accept Lisa. Since I didn’t want to risk the peace treaty between our packs, I agreed. But I told Nate that it would only be a temporary arrangement. As Lisa was pregnant with Nate’s pup, I would give her to my brother, and he would be an Alpha in a pack. So, Lisa would still be a Luna.”
