Note: Werewolves Rank and Role List
Here is the list of werewolf ranks I use in this story:
1. Alpha (the pack leader). Usually, a pack has only one or two Alpha at maximum. If there are two Alpha, they are the leader and his mate (Luna). The Alpha is the strongest and most influential in the pack. Alpha makes sure all pack members are safe and fulfilled.
2. Beta (second-in-command). Beta is the vice leader of the pack. When Alpha is not present in the pack, the duty to take care of the pack falls on the Beta. Usually, the Beta is the one who is the most trusted by the Alpha.
3. Gamma (Elder). Gamma is usually the senior of the pack. The pack respects them because of their wisdom and special ability. Retired Alpha usually will serve as Gamma.
4. Delta (the messenger). Delta is the one who sends messages to other packs. Therefore, they have to build good relationships with other packs. Because of this role, the Delta can significantly influence other packs and be a threat to the pack itself.
5. Epsilon (the guardian). Guardian is the one who is responsible for the safety of the pack. They usually serve as the gatekeepers.
6. Zeta (the chief fighter). Zeta is the leader when the pack is attacked or if the Alpha plans an attack on other packs.
7. Eta (the fighter). Eta is the soldier under Zeta when it is at war or under Epsilon when it is at peace. Eta has good fighting skills.
8. Theta (medical chief). Theta is the one who is responsible for handling the health care of the pack members.
9. Iota (medical staff). Iota is the one who has skills in herbology and medicine. Iota works under Theta’s supervision.
10. Kappa (hunter chief). Kappa is the one who is responsible for hunting the food for the pack.
11. Lambda (hunter). Lambda is the hunter under Kappa’s supervision.
12. Mu (maid/housekeeper). Mu is the one who is responsible for managing the Alpha’s house. They can be the Alpha’s mistress or the Alpha’s right hand. Though formally Beta is Alpha’s right hand, Mu can climb the rank because of his closeness to the Alpha.
13. Nu (provider). Nu is the one who is responsible for maintaining natural resources around the pack and finding new resources when the current ones are depleting. In times of abundance, Nu can help Epsilon as the gatekeeper.
14. Xi (Nu’s helper). Xi is the one who is responsible for watching the natural resources within the pack. They work under Nu’s supervision. They will help Nu to be the gatekeeper when the food level is high.
15. Omicron (the advisor/psychologist/teacher). Omicron is the advisor to the younger werewolves, and they usually help Theta and Iota when they have patients with psychological cases. When there is no psychological patient they should handle, they will teach the young/teen werewolf and pup.
16. Pi (Omicron’s helper). Pi is the young or new advisor, psychologist, and teacher under Omicron’s supervision.
17. Rho (the artisan). Rho is the one who is responsible for creating weapons, tools, and clothes.
18. Sigma (the Rho’s helper). Sigma will work under Rho’s guidance and supervision.
19. Tau (spy chief). Tau is the one who is responsible for sending Upsilon to other packs and gathering needed information
20. Upsilon (spy). Upsilon is the one who will gather information needed by the Alpha. They will work under Tau’s supervision.
21. Phi (babysitter). Phi is the one who will help to nurture and take care of the pup, especially the Alpha’s pup.
22. Chi (general helper). Chi is the one who will fill any kind of role needed in the pack.
23. Psi (helper). Psi is the helper of the pack. Usually, the new ones in the pack have this rank until they have proven fitter for other ranks/roles. After that, they can be placed anywhere and for whatever role. Psi will work under Chi’s supervision and guidance. When they cannot do the work well, they can be placed at Omega rank.
24. Omega. Omega is the lowest rank in the werewolves pack. Usually, they are the weakest, but they may also be those who are mistreated because of many reasons.
25. Pup. Pup is the youngest of the pack. Usually, babies and children will be categorized as pups.
26. Rogue. Rogue is those exiled/sent away from the pack because of their misdeed, but they can also be rogues because they are being wrongly persecuted. Usually, rogues are criminals (evil werewolves).
Some other terms I use in the book:
- The Highest One. It refers to the deity of werewolves and all creatures. Mostly, the deity will communicate with the werewolves and all creatures through dreams, visions, or a direct instruction.
- Mate. The term is to explain the spouse of werewolves/she-wolves.
- Marking/marking ceremony. It refers to the act of a werewolf and a she-wolf to bite their mate’s neck and leave a mark on the neck as a sign that they are couples. It is usually done through a ceremony publicly and celebrate with all pack members.
- Mating. The term refers to the act of a werewolf and a she-wolf have sex. It is usually done after the marking/marking ceremony, but the couple can also do it before the marking/marking ceremony.
- Pregnancy. She-wolves pregnancy only takes two months before they give birth to the pup(s). The she-wolves can experience miscarriages and also death because of giving birth to pup(s).
- Wolfbane. Its other names are monkshood/aconite It is a wild flower plant with a toxic substance (aconite) that can weaken werewolves. A prolong time or close contact with the substance can kill werewolves.
- Silver. Though werewolves mostly are strong, they couldn’t stand of silver. A long time contact with silver or hurt with silver will be fatal for werewolves. It can wound them severely to the point of death. It depends on the severity of action using the silver.
