Epilogue
~ Lisa ~
Susanne entered my room in a rush. Her face was gloomy. “Miss Lisa, we must leave the pack immediately.”
I raised my eyebrows. “Why? What’s wrong?”
Susanne opened my cupboard, packed some of my clothes there. “Alpha Cameron came with his troop. It’s better for you to stay somewhere safe. If all have been calm, we can return here.”
I let out a sigh. Susanne might be right. Rubbing my belly, going elsewhere would ensure my pup’s safety rather than staying here. So, I took my handbag, filling it with my jewelry and some gold plates I had. Then Susanne and I walked to the garden, and after passing the secret passage, we were already outside of our pack.
We walked without conversing, as I was nervous. Hopefully, nothing bad would happen in our pack. We headed to the Dark Forest where my family had a small house there. Susanne unpacked the luggage and put my clothes in the cupboard there.
I checked the table and the food buffet. The stock was full. I let out a sigh of relief. We were safe for a while. As long as we had enough food, we didn’t need to go outside. Until we knew the news of what happened in our pack, it was better to stay in the house.
But then, suddenly, my father contacted me through the mind link. Since we talked only a little lately after I returned to our pack, it was odd he wanted to talk to me through the mind link.
Before I could say something, my father said, ‘T-take care of our pack. Avenge my death ….’
I shook my head frantically. ‘Father! Father! Don’t scare me! Father!’ I repeatedly called him, but not a single word I heard from him.
I screamed to Susanne. “We must return to the pack immediately!”
“What?! No! We must stay here!” Susanne insisted, grabbing my shoulders. Her stare was stern. “No matter what, we can’t leave this house, at least not until we know the situation is safer.”
I sobbed and shook my head. “My father … he contacted me through the mind link. He ….” Then I couldn’t continue my words, as sobbing was the only thing I could do.
Susanne hugged me. Even without finishing my words, Susanne seemed to already guessed what I wanted to say. She sobbed too, and we cried together on the floor. After being exhausted from crying, I lay on the bed. No matter what my father did to me, he was still my father.
I shut my eyes as my memory recalled my childhood and youth. Before the gang-rape tragedy, my father spoiled me a lot because I looked like my late mother. I didn’t remember my mother because she died a few months after giving birth to me. Then, after the tragedy, my father became so protective of me. I thought it was because he felt guilty and useless, as he couldn’t protect me.
The more I recalled the past, the more I was convinced that my father drugged me because he wanted the best for me. Everything was secured with Cameron, as his future had been set as an Alpha. It would be different if I were with Nate. I could understand why my father did it.
Then suddenly I felt a kick in my stomach. Sobbing again, I shook my head. I must be strong. My pup needed me. Maybe after everything was okay, I could return to my pack again, and everything would be alright.

I fell asleep because I was too tired from crying. When I awoke, it was night already. Sitting on the bed, I didn’t know what I should do. Maybe I could sneak into our pack, trying to find out the latest situation there. However, my eyes saw a black dress folded on a chair next to my bed.
Susanne sat on the couch, wearing a black dress too. She must be waiting for me to wake up. Seeing me sitting, she kneeled on the floor and bent her head. “Miss Lisa … I don’t know what to say.”
“What is it? Do you hear something? Have you gone to our pack and asked some people?” I asked her many questions all at once.
Susanne’s face was pale. She nodded and shed tears again. “The pack is no longer your brother’s. Alpha Cameron captured him and threw your brother into the dungeon.”
I gasped and then shook my head. “I want to visit my brother now. Cameron is a good man. He will allow me to see my brother.”
“The thing is … The thing is ….” Susanne didn’t finish her words.
“What happened?”
Susanne sobbed while holding my feet. “I don’t know what I must tell you, miss ….”
“Please … I need to know. What happened?”
“I got a piece of news from our people. Your brother … suicided by drinking wolfsbane. They locked him in a silver jail. It might be too much for him. Finally, he ended his life.”
“No!” I screamed. “It can’t be!” Shaking my head and bawling, I shook my head. “It must be a lie, right? They spread lies so our people won’t fight back.”
“There is another news, miss. I think it’s a piece of good news.” Susanne took a deep breath.
My lips were trembling because I didn’t know if I could handle more bad news. Losing my father and brother in a day was too much hurt. I couldn’t take any more blows. So, I hoped to hear a hopeful thing from Susanne. “Tell me.”
“The new Alpha isn’t Alpha Cameron. He appointed his foster brother to be a new Alpha there. Now, the Alpha is your mate, Nathanael Thorn.” Susanne squeezed my hands. “Miss Lisa, maybe it’s fate. Maybe you can finally find happiness with him.”
I shut my eyes. “Can I? How can I have my happiness when two of my family were killed by his foster brother?”
“Alpha Bill’s death is because of suicide. Alpha Cameron didn’t kill him.”
“I didn’t believe it! Cameron must kill my brother too, because Bill harmed Anna. What can I do now?” I covered my face with both hands, sobbing.
