Chapter 28: The Dinner Time

Bill wanted to say something, but then Lisa entered the dining room. I caught my breath as she was stunning. Her hair was braided neatly. She wore a long white dress. The dress reached her ankles. She sat between Bill and me. Her chest was covered with lace. She looked like an angel.

She smiled at me. I reached for her hand and kissed her palm. Cam grinned to see how Lisa reacted. She blushed and smiled even more sweetly.

‘It seems she likes you, Bro,’ Cam said through the mind link.

I glanced at Cam for a few seconds and smiled. ‘I hope so, because I’m crazy about her. She’s so gorgeous.’

Some footmen came with wine glasses. After serving the wine, they left the dining room. Cam lifted the wineglass and nodded at Alpha Fred.

“Alpha Fred, my brother has been smitten by your daughter. I hope you will give them your blessings.”

Before Alpha Fred could say something, Bill interrupted him. “Not so fast! Lisa, do you want Nathanael as your mate?”

Lisa blushed, yet she didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she touched my wrist and whispered, “What do you feel about me?”

I stroked her hand. “Do you still need to ask?” I stared at her blue eyes, seeing a question there. I thought it was pretty obvious what I felt about her, but she needed me to say it. So, I bent forward and whispered in her ear, “I like you. I want you to be mine soon.”

Lisa rewarded me with a sweet smile. Then she nodded at Bill. “Yes, Brother, I want Nathanael as my mate. Father, will you give us your blessings?”

Alpha Fred sipped his wine. “I will need some time before I can decide. But I will allow you to get to know each other.”

Cam lifted his wineglass again and said, “For a great alliance between the Wild Wolves Pack and the Hurricane Dawn Pack. May Nate and Lisa have the happily ever after soon.”

Lisa and I stared at each other and sipped our wine. The footmen returned with some meals. First, seared scallops with vegetables. Lisa spooned me, and I ate what she gave me. I spooned her too, and she received it well. It was a great beginning, though Alpha Fred hadn’t given his blessings yet.

When I wanted to spoon another scallop, suddenly, something startled me. Lisa took her shoe off and touched my thigh with her foot. I took a deep breath as it turned me on, and I couldn’t wait to visit her tonight in her bedroom.

I coughed when her foot moved boldly and touched my inner thigh, almost reaching my crotch. I caught her ankle and pretended to drop a spoon. When a footman approached to get my cutlery, I released Lisa’s feet. She sighed and moved her chair closer to mine. The footman took my spoon and replaced it with a new one.

“Thank you,” I said to the footman.

The footman bowed and left with the spoon. I took a deep breath; dealing with Lisa would be a challenge. I didn’t know how to please her in the way she wanted. But for sure, I didn’t want to show too much intimacy before Alpha Fred agreed to our relationship.

The dinner went well. We enjoyed a lot of tasty and luxurious food, but I couldn’t remember it all as my mind was full of what I would do after this. Lisa didn’t tease me again. Maybe it was a test to see whether I was a scoundrel or a gentleman. The more I thought about it, the more I was nervous. Who knew if her invitation to visit her in the bedroom was the ultimate test?

Before I could think more, the footmen took the cutleries and served the coffee and various puddings. My heart beat faster as the time was nearer to the time I would visit Lisa.

Alpha Fred sipped his coffee. He asked a footman to pick the pudding away as he disliked sweet desserts. Then he asked, “Nathanael, Cameron told me you would be an Alpha. So, does it mean Cameron won’t be the Alpha of the Wild Wolves Pack?”

I shook my head. “Cameron will be the Alpha of our pack, sir. Nothing will change.”

Alpha Fred frowned and sipped his coffee again. “So what did Cameron mean by you would be an Alpha?”

“We have the plan to battle another pack. I will be the new Alpha in the conquered pack.”

Bill tapped his fingers on the table. “It’s only a plan. What if the plan didn’t work well?”

I thought about it too. But I couldn’t say anything, as I didn’t know how much authority my foster father would give me.

“Can’t say anything, huh?” Bill sneered and exchanged glances with Alpha Fred.

“Nate will succeed. If he failed, he could attack another pack,” Cam said.

“Oh? Did your father give Nathanael the freedom to choose whatever pack he wanted?”

Cam grinned. “We certainly had already chosen one. But unfortunately, as it’s an internal affair of our pack, we can’t disclose it to you.”

“Really? Is that so? Or is it because you only bluffed us?”

“Bill!” Lisa stood. “Don’t corner Nate anymore. He is a good man with an honorable intention of marrying me. Can’t you be happy for me?”

“Lisa, you don’t understand. You barely know him. What if he’s just a liar and manipulator like your ex?”

Lisa was quiet. She bit her lower lip. I touched her hand to get her attention, but she didn’t look at me.

When she talked, her voice was hoarse. “I was naive. I was still too young. But I’m no longer naive.”

“Lisa ….” I called her, but she didn’t answer me.

“Make sure you tell him about what the scum did to you. Then, see if Nathanael still wants you,” Bill said.

“Lisa, who’s Bill talking about?” I asked.

“It’s her past,” Bill said. “But it’s important for you to know it. Later, if you accept it, I will agree with this matchmaking.” Then he bowed a little to his father and left the dining room.
