Chapter 38: Discussing of Solution

It made sense, but after what Lisa told Alpha Fred, why didn’t he consider it? I let out a long sigh. I didn’t know how to win Lisa back.

“Don’t worry. I will send Cameron to have Lisa if everything doesn’t work out.”

I wanted to protest, but I was merely a foster son. So, I shut my mouth. Alpha Horace appointed me as his son to manage the problem with Lisa. I failed …. I didn’t think I had any right to ask him to consider another way. So, I bowed my head. “Father, I will go now. I’m sorry to let you down.”

“No, you don’t let me down. I’m only disappointed in how Fred handled this.” He patted my shoulder.

I walked to Cam’s house. I knocked on the door, but he didn’t open it. So I contacted him through the mind link. ‘Cam, are you at home?’

‘Yeah, why?’

‘I need to talk to you. It’s important.’

‘Okay, you can come here.’

‘I’ve been at your door.’

‘Oh, sorry. I didn’t hear you knocking. I’ll be there in a minute.’

After a few minutes, Cam opened the door for me. His hair was messy, and he was sweaty. He didn’t wear a shirt. From what I could conclude, he might have just mated with Anna.

“Is Anna here?”

“Yes. Why?”

I grinned. “No wonder you didn’t hear me knocking on your door. I need to talk to you in private.”

Cam stared at me for a few seconds. “Sure. Let’s go to my working room.”

When we were already in the working room, he closed the door. “What is it, Nate?”

“It’s about Lisa. Alpha Fred threw me out of his pack.”

Cam frowned. “What’s wrong?” I told him what had happened, and Cam shook his head. “This is madness!” he said.

“Lisa can be pregnant after our mating. But she may fulfill her father’s demand to be your mate.”

“Not a chance!” Cam said. “I won’t touch her. She’s yours!”

“Thank you. But if you must take her as your mate, what will you do?”

“I won’t mate with her. Anna is my mate. I don’t want to hurt her again.”

“Our father may want you to continue with the former plan. What will you do?”

Cam patted his chin. After a few minutes, he said, “If I don’t find another way out, I may take Lisa as my mate. But I won’t bed her. I promise you.”

I took a deep breath. At least Lisa would be safe. Imagining Cam touching Lisa intimately made me sick. It was only half the solution, as Lisa would still be Cam’s mate. But then Cam grinned.

“What?” I asked.

“Don’t worry. I have a plan.”

“Hm?”

“If I can’t avoid the plan, I will have Lisa as my mate, but I won’t touch her at all. Then, after a while, I will give her to you.”

I frowned. “But how can you do that?”

“If you do a great service to the pack, such as winning a battle, I can give anyone a great reward.” Then he winked. “In your case, Lisa will be the reward.”

“But it will be an insult for her and her pack. Alpha Fred won’t let you do it.”

“I will use the reason that Lisa has been pregnant with your pup. That’s why I only give both of you happiness.”

I touched my chin. “Lisa may accept it, but Alpha Fred and Bill won’t take it well.”

“We will think about it later. Honestly, I don’t mind attacking them. Alpha Fred is crazy! To think he didn’t mind ruining his daughter’s happiness is too much for me.”

“True. But as he is someone who thinks power is the most important thing, he’ll do anything to gain it. Even if he must sacrifice her daughter.” I massaged my temples, as it was too complicated. It might be easier to handle if it were only a relationship matter. Yet as our pack was at stake too, it affected everyone.

Then there was a knock. Cam creased his forehead. “Come in.”

Anna entered the room. She looked more beautiful than ever. “Oh, you have Nate here. Sorry.”

I shook my head. “It’s okay. I will go home now.”

Anna smiled at me. “No need to rush because of me. Take your time.”

Anna was about to leave the room, but Cam approached her. “Hey, don’t you think you forgot something?”

“Hmm? I don’t think so.”

“This! You forgot this.” Then Cam pulled Anna’s hand and kissed her passionately.

I touched my nape and grinned to see how Cam wasn’t shy about showing how much he loved Anna. Though it made me a little jealous because my mate wasn’t here. I couldn’t touch and kiss her again …. I let out a sigh.

“Sorry, Bro. I forgot you are still here.”

“It’s okay. I will go home. After all, we can only wait until our father discusses things with Alpha Fred.”

“Is everything okay?” Anna asked.

I nodded. “Yes, I think all will be okay in the end. But before that, I must go through hell first.” I stood and walked to the door. “I will leave.” Then I forced a smile at Anna. “Enjoy your time.”

She blushed, and Cam laughed aloud. “Nate, you don’t need to tease her. Look at her. She blushed because of your comment.” But then, Cam added, “But I can’t deny, the blushing looks good on her. Don’t you think so, Nate?”

Anna punched Cam’s chest, but she giggled upon hearing Cam’s words. “You are naughty. I will punish you for that.”

“Can’t wait for your punishment, madam. I’ll even add more to your satisfaction.”

“Cam!” Anna protested, staring at me. Her cheeks were deep crimson now.

Cam only laughed and shook his head. “Nate is my brother now, but he’s also my best friend. He won’t feel awkward seeing our happiness.”

I grinned, though deep down, I was jealous of their happiness. But I waved my hands and opened the door. “See you later, Cam!”

“Sure! Don’t worry. Everything will be sorted out well.”
