Chapter 43: The Diagnosis
Susanne returned with our Theta. He bowed and said, “Miss Lisa, do you have regular eating?”
I nodded. “Yes, I do.”
“Let me check, then.” After a while, he stared at me. “From my checking, it looks like you are pregnant. It’s still early. My diagnosis may be wrong. Yet if you keep nauseating for a few days ahead, it may be right.”
I touched my stomach. “Can you help reduce the nausea?”
“Sure. It’s easy. Drinking lemon or ginger tea is good for you.”
“Anything else?”
“Don’t drink alcohol and coffee. Don’t eat raw food either.”
“Thank you. Susanne, please send our Theta to the door.”
Susanne did what I asked. But before he could leave my room, the door snapped open. My father was there, looking at our Theta.
“What’s wrong with her?”
The Theta glanced at me and then nodded at my father. “Let’s talk outside.”
After a few minutes, my father entered my room. “Leave us alone,” he said to Susanne.
Susanne bowed and left the room with no words. She was afraid of my father.
“I expected better from you than this!” My father glared at me. “Unwanted pregnancy when we are in the critical time of negotiation. Do you know what this means?”
I shook my head, and my father blurted it out, “It means you put us in a disadvantageous position! How can I have a daughter like you?”
I couldn’t say anything. I only stared at my hands and let my father say anything he wanted.
“I’ve been tolerant with you because of your trauma. Yet now you are pregnant with a bastard!”
“My pup is not a bastard! I want this, Father. Please let me have Nate as my mate. I promise you I will do anything you want.”
“Abort the pup!”
“No!” I screamed. “I will fight for this pup as I lost my pup ten years ago …. I have had countless dreams. He called me and asked me why I killed him ….”
“It’s only a sentimental mind. Once you have been Cameron’s mate, you can have as many pups as you want.”
I shook my head. “No! I only want Nate’s pups! I don’t want Cameron’s!”
My father spat and slapped me. “Ungrateful child!”
“You can hit me as much as you want, but I won’t change my mind. I will have this pup and won’t let you kill or separate this one either.”
My father glared at me. Then he sneered. “We’ll see about that.”
When he left my room, I collapsed on the floor. I rubbed my belly and said, “Don’t worry. Mommy will fight for you. I won’t let you be taken away like what he did to your brother or sister.”
I had never seen my first pup because the moment I gave birth to my child, my father took the baby away from the Theta and Iota, who helped in the pup’s delivery. Yet I always had dreams afterward of seeing a boy. The boy was handsome, but I saw him cry or upset with me for giving him away.
If only I had more strength, I wouldn’t have let my father take the pup away. But it was a long delivery, and I didn’t have any energy left, even to lift my head to see, let alone to hold my pup. I had severe bleeding afterwards. The Theta said my condition needed special treatment. I didn’t know if my father had taken away and killed my pup because I was in great pain. The Theta assured me to rest a lot, and I followed his direction. When I was better a week later, I asked my father about my pup. Later, he told me about what had happened.
I was too shocked and collapsed. When I was conscious, I was no longer in my room but in the medical ward. Our Theta asked me not to get stressed, as I was in recovery after giving birth and bleeding.
I could remember the emptiness and anger knowing I had my pup no more. Yes, it was an unwanted pregnancy, but I loved the pup regardless of what had happened. I knew I was a minor at fifteen, but even as young as that, I already loved my pup. Why couldn’t my father understand that?
Now he wanted to repeat his action. I wouldn’t let him, as I wanted this pup badly. This was Nate and mine’s love pup. Even though I couldn’t be with him, having his pup comforted me immensely. I massaged my stomach and smiled. No matter what, I would make you safe, my pup.
Then an Iota came. I had never seen him before. He brought medicine and gave it to me. “Miss Lisa, please drink this food supplement. It will be good for you and your pup.”
I nodded. “Thank you. I will drink it later. I don’t feel well.”
“That’s why you must drink it to strengthen yourself and your pup.”
“I will.”
Susanne entered my room and frowned when she saw the Iota. “I don’t know if there is a guest.”
“It’s an Iota. Please send him to the door.”
Susanne led the Iota to the door. After the Iota left, Susanne approached me quickly. “What did he want?”
“He delivered a food supplement for me. Why?”
“I don’t know. I have never seen him before. Also, it’s weird to see that a new Iota will work to send you a food supplement. The Theta can do it himself.”
I shrugged. “Maybe our Theta is busy, so he asked the Iota to come here.”
“It’s possible. But please, don’t drink the food supplement first. Let me bring it to the Theta to check. If it’s safe, you can drink it later.”
“Sure.”
Susanne might have been paranoid. But as long as she cared about me, I didn’t mind. Besides, it was good to be careful. After a while, she returned, and her breath was strangled.
“It’s fake! It’s not a food supplement.”
“What?!” I gasped.
“It’s the opposite, miss. It’s an abortion pill!”
