Chapter 49: The Unexpected

Lisa touched my face and kissed my lips. She took my hand and placed it on her belly. “Do you want our pup to be a boy or a girl?”

“The pup is Nate’s, not mine.”

Lisa shook her head. “You are confused. Maybe your mistress has bewitched you. The pup’s yours!”

“Lisa, please. I have never touched you, let alone mated with you. How can I impregnate you?” Lisa’s condition seemed more severe than what Nate said. I needed to go home soon and tell Nate what had happened.

Lisa walked back and forth. “I know I must be patient with you. Your mistress is a witch who tried to manipulate you into forgetting me. It doesn’t matter. I will win you back no matter how long it takes.” Then she hugged my waist.

I focused my mind on remembering Anna. I hated to hurt her. Anna might misunderstand what happened, considering Lisa’s condition right now. I doubted it was because of her trauma. Maybe her father or Bill influenced Lisa’s mind.

After a minute, somehow I could move my body again. The rose scent wasn’t as strong as before. Did someone drug Lisa? I glanced at her. She still didn’t move and laid her head on my chest. I pushed her a little.

“Lisa, I need to go home now. We will meet in three days here for our marking ceremony.”

Lisa’s eyes were unfocused, but she finally nodded. She walked with me to the door. Alpha Fred raised his eyebrows to see us.

“Alpha Fred, I need to go home now. See you in three days here. I will bring my family and some people from my pack to see the marking ceremony.”

Alpha Fred rose from his seat and patted my shoulder. “Great! Soon we will be a family. I hope you will treat Lisa well.”

I nodded. “Don’t worry about her.”

“Lisa, walk with Cameron until the gate,” Alpha Fred said.

Lisa nodded, but she still said nothing. We walked without talking. When we reached the gate, I glanced at her. Suddenly, a speculation arose in my mind. “Lisa, no need to fear. I won’t hurt you and no need to pretend anymore. Your father can’t see us now.”

“What are you talking about? My father didn’t force me to do anything.”

“But you aren’t yourself. It’s as if you are drugged.”

“Please, I’m okay. See you in three days.” Then she left me.

I returned to my pack. After parking my black sports car in my garage, I walked to Nate’s house. ‘Nate, I’m at the door of your house,’ I said through the mind link.

‘Wait a minute!’ Then Nate opened the door. “So, what did Lisa say?”

I stared at Nate. “I hope you won’t misunderstand me, but I need to prepare you first.”

“Prepare me? For what?” He furrowed his forehead.

“Let’s sit first.” After sitting, I took a deep breath. “It’s not as I expected. Lisa acted weirdly.”

“Hm? How?”

“She told me she was pregnant.”

“Oh! Wow!” Nate smiled. “I will be a father!”

I nodded. “Congratulations!”

“Thanks, man! I need to prepare for the pup’s needs soon. What should I buy first?”

“Wow, slow down! You can think about it later. But the most urgent matter is Lisa.”

Nate creased his forehead again. “I don’t understand.”

“Lisa told me I was the pup’s father.”

“What?!” Nate stood and shook his head. “Maybe she is under pressure. Maybe his father asked her to say that.”

“But what’s the point? Three of us know you are the pup’s father. When I talked to Lisa, we were alone. His father wasn’t there. So there’s no point for her to pretend.”

“What else did she say?” Nate asked. He folded his arms over his chest.

“She also didn’t remember about our plan; I told her already that we would part ways after the ceremony, and I would return her to you. But she acted as if it were the first time she heard it.” I touched my nape. “It’s crazy, you know. Her expression was as if I had hurt her.”

“Is it possible that Alpha Fred drugged her?”

“I thought the same. Another possibility is that either Alpha Fred or Bill brainwashed her.”

Nate messed up his hair and then sat on the couch, even sank himself into the couch. “What should we do? I can’t let her be intimate with you. It will complicate the situation.”

“I agree, as I don’t want to touch her either. I only want Anna.”

“But let’s assume Alpha Fred or Bill drugged Lisa so she would think of you as the one she wanted as her mate. What will you do? She will expect to mate with you!”

“I don’t know.” Shutting my eyes, I put my hands behind my head. “I can’t think for now. Besides, I have Anna too. How can I explain to her that the marking ceremony will take place in three days?”

“What?! So soon?”

“Yeah …. At first, I thought it didn’t matter if it would be a week or three days from now. But then Lisa acted strangely. We must think of something to deal with that.”

We didn’t talk for a few minutes until Nate finally shouted, “I got it!”

“What’s your idea?”

“You will use a blindfold. Then we can exchange places. I will replace you and mate with her. Then, when we have finished, we will change places again.”

“But she must know our differences.” I tapped the couch with my fingers. “Try to find another way.”

“We can drug her too. If she’s drunk, she can’t tell us apart.”

“How? With a drink?”

Then Nate shook his head. “She’s pregnant. We can’t make her drunk. I don’t want something bad to happen to my pup.”

“So, what should we do?” I tapped my fingers on the couch again.

Nate touched his chin. “Maybe we need to meet our father. Who knows if he can give any suggestions?”

“No!” I immediately said.

“Why not?”

I let out a heavy sigh. “Because my father caught Anna and took her as a hostage.”

“What?! Why? You have agreed to be Lisa’s mate. What else did he want?”

“Maybe he wanted to secure the pack’s future. He even threatened to kill Anna if I didn’t comply with his demand.” I took a heavy sigh. “My hands are tied. I can’t risk Anna’s life.”

Nate messed up his hair again. “Argh! It’s crazy! Why does everyone change?”
