Chapter 63: Using the Peace Treaty
~ Lisa ~
I rang the bell, and Melanie came to the bedroom. She bent her head and smiled.
“Good morning, Luna. What a lovely day! How are you?” she asked.
I smiled and yawned. “I’m good and had a great time last night.”
Melanie blushed and nodded. “I’m glad, then. Do you want to take a bath, Luna? I will prepare the water for you.”
“Sure,” I said, “but I need you to do something for me.”
“Yes, Luna. What is it?”
“Please call Mimi here. I have something I want to talk with her.”
Melanie stared at me, and then she bowed her head. “Certainly, Luna. I will call her soon after I finish with your bath water.” Then she went to the bathroom.
The situation was rather awkward, as Melanie was my temporary maid, but I liked Mimi more than Melanie. I didn’t know why, but I didn’t find any chemistry with Melanie. Then I let out a sigh. I needed to ask Susanne to come here today. With her by my side, I would feel much better.
Though the Wild Wolves Pack was now my pack, I still felt like a stranger here. I had my mate, for sure, but he must be busy too with our pack. I rubbed my stomach. After the little one was born, I could take my time getting to know the pack members more. However, it would be easier if I had my people around me.
So I contacted Susanne immediately. ‘Susanne, it’s me.’
‘Miss Lisa! Are you okay?’ Her voice in my mind made me want to weep. I missed her so much!
‘I’m good. Did I awake you?’
‘No, miss. I was awake an hour ago.’
I frowned. ‘Why?’
‘It feels weird now without you, miss. Oh, I must call you Luna now. I used to serve you, but now I have no one to serve.’ Susanne sighed. ‘I’m sorry. I mustn’t complain to you about this. But I miss you so much, Luna ….’
My heart was heavy, as I felt the same. ‘Oh, Susanne, I miss you too! But don’t worry! You will serve me again.’
Susanne gasped and asked, ‘How? I will do anything, miss. Uh, Luna. Sorry, it’s hard to change how I call you.’
I grinned and let out a small sigh. It was just like an old time. ‘You can still call me miss when just the two of us.’
‘Thank you, miss. You said I could serve you again. Will you spend time in the Hurricane Dawn Pack for a few days?’
I shook my head. Realizing Susanne couldn’t see me, I said, ‘No, but I want you to serve me in the Wild Wolves Pack. What do you think?’
‘Oh, I love it! But will Alpha Bill allow me, miss?’
I shrugged. ‘I think so. After what I have done to create a peace treaty between two packs, I think he owes it to me to give me what I want. You are my maid. Regardless of whether we are in our original pack or my current pack now, it’s only the changing location. So I think he will grant it. Let me speak with him. He will ask you to pack your belongings today and go here. Just wait for his order.’
‘Yes, miss. I will gladly wait for Alpha Bill’s order.’
‘Good. I will contact him now. See you soon!’
‘Yes, miss. I hope we can see each other soon.’ I heard a sniffle. My guess was Susanne cried. I could feel it, as she was the closest one to me, even closer than my father and my brother. I closed the mind link and opened a new one to contact Bill. ‘Bill, are you awake yet?’
Bill groaned and sighed hard. I didn’t hear from him for a few seconds, then he asked, ‘Lisa? What happened? Are you okay? Does Cameron treat you right?’
I giggled. Why did everyone ask if I was okay? Maybe they loved me enough. It was weird because I mostly quarreled with Bill when he was around me. I missed him too though not as much as I missed Susanne. ‘I’m okay. Cameron is good to me. I want to ask you to do something for me.’
‘What is it?’ he asked.
‘I need you to ask Susanne to pack her belongings and go to the Wild Wolves Pack today. I need her as my maid here.’
‘As your maid? Did Cameron not prepare a maid for you?’
I grinned. Bill and Cameron didn’t have a good relationship. So it was normal for my brother to question my mate’s intentions as he didn’t know Cameron well. ‘Silly! He did, but I told her I preferred Susanne to serve me here. So will you send Susanne here?’
‘Absolutely. Besides, she can do a double job.’
I touched my chin. ‘Double job? What do you mean?’
‘I can ask her to be a spy there. She can report to me periodically. Let’s say monthly.’
I shook my head instantly. ‘No! Absolutely not!’
‘What do you mean by no?’
‘I won’t let Susanne be a spy for you.’
‘Then you won’t have her as your maid,’ Bill said. ‘It’s a simple exchange.’
I sighed. ‘Don’t you forget I traded my life for the peace treaty? Do I have to remind you how big my sacrifice is for our pack?’
‘Hey, don’t do that! Okay! I will send Susanne to the Wild Wolves Pack.’ Then he grumbled, ‘It’s only a night, and she has already changed her loyalty. Woman!’
‘Hey, I heard that!’ I protested. ‘Besides, we are family now. Even if you don’t see Cameron as your family, why do you want to betray the peace treaty?’
Bill groaned. ‘I have never thought of Cameron as my family because he has someone I want badly. The woman I love is with him. How can I treat him as my brother-in-law? When I meet him, I only want to spit in his face?’
I creased my forehead. The woman my brother loves? Who? Then suddenly, I realized something. ‘Did you mean Anna? Cameron’s mistress?’
