Chapter 83: More Conflicts
~ Nathanael/Nate ~
I walked with Lisa to her room. Susanne followed us from behind. Lisa said nothing, so I didn’t fill the silence with a small talk. It was good that Lisa’s father was no longer an Alpha here. At least I knew Bill wouldn’t do anything as drastic as Elder Fred.
When we were in front of Lisa’s room, Susanne opened the door. Lisa sat on the couch while rubbing her stomach.
“Miss Lisa, are you okay? Do you need me to rub your feet?” Susanne asked.
Lisa let out a sigh, but after glancing at me, she shook her head. “Please bring me tea instead, Susanne. I’m thirsty.”
Susanne nodded. After bowing at me, Susanne left the room.
I sat next to Lisa and touched her feet. “Let me massage your feet.”
Lisa said nothing and let me do what I offered her. I took her feet and massaged her legs first. She sighed and covered her eyes with a hand, then leaned her back on the couch. I glanced at a small mound of her belly and smiled. It was my pup there.
I rubbed her stomach slowly. That was when our pup kicked their mother’s womb. Lisa immediately removed her hand beneath her eyes and looked at me with widened eyes.
“Is that …?” She put her hands above my hand.
Our pup kicked her mother’s womb one more time. Our stares met, and we smiled at each other. “Yes, princess. Our pup just kicked.”
Lisa held my hand, but a second later, she burst into tears. I didn’t know why she cried.
“Lisa?” I touched her cheek, trying to soothe her, but she shook her head and sobbed louder.
“I already felt something was wrong because I was confused about Cameron and you. It’s quite embarrassing. I asked Cameron to mate with me, and he tried to find excuses, so he didn’t need to do it.” She covered her face with both hands. “I’m so embarrassed.”
I turned Lisa’s body so her back leaned on my body. My arms wrapped around her, then I kissed her shoulder and neck. “Cameron won’t blame you. It’s your father’s fault, so you couldn’t differ Cameron and me.”
Lisa turned around to look me in the eye. “Last night … Did I mate with you?”
I didn’t know what to say but I didn’t want to lie anymore. So I nodded. “Yes, it was me, not Cameron.”
“But how come I thought it was C-Cameron?” Her voice trembled. “If only your hands didn’t have calluses, I would still think I mated with Cameron.”
I kissed Lisa’s forehead. “Will you forgive us? Cameron didn’t want to betray Anna by mating with you. He loves Anna. But as both of you had been through the marking ceremony, he had no choice. He must mate with you. As you have a distortion in your memory, we figured it out we could do the same.”
Lisa’s sharp breath told me she was upset but it was the time for the truth. I wouldn’t lie to her anymore. “Lisa ….”
“I … understand. I was only a pawn in your game.” She whimpered and sniffled.
I shook my head and wrapped my arm tighter around her waist. “No, you are my precious mate. You are not a pawn. I’m sorry we tricked you, but it was the only way ….”
We didn’t talk for a while until her breath was calmer. Then she asked, “Now what? After what happened today, I don’t think Cameron will want me anymore.” She let out a shaky laugh. “Well, he has never wanted me, anyway. As I let the evil side control me until I even didn’t recognize myself anymore, I even don’t know how I can meet with him and Anna again.” Lisa sobbed and buried her face on my chest. “I threatened to ruin her face with a cutter. How could I do that? I have become a monster!”
I pulled her body until her head snuggled on my chest and stroked her back. “We all have our moments of weaknesses, but I’m sure Anna will forgive you. She will understand you were under drug influence.”
“What about Cameron?” Lisa asked. “What will he do?”
“I will be frank with you. Before having the marking ceremony, Cameron had already planned to give you to me. We already talked about this. We would go to conquer a pack, and I would be a new Alpha there. You would be my Luna. What do you think?”
Lisa touched my face and caressed it. “After what happened, do you still want me?”
“Yes! You are my mate. Nothing will change it. I love you, Lisa.”
Lisa’s tears shed and dampened her cheeks. I wiped them and kissed each of them. “I don’t deserve you ….”
“Why not?”
“What if I try to hurt you too?”
I shook my head. “Not a chance.”
“But what if I can’t control myself? What if the evil side of me takes control and harms you?”
“We won’t let it happen.” I rubbed her hair and her back. “We will cure you. Don’t worry. Our Theta is good. After this, let’s go back to our pack. He will cure you.”
Lisa said nothing, but she circled her arms around my waist. After a few minutes, she kissed my chest and raised her head. She stared at me with a shy gaze. “Can we live elsewhere? I don’t want to stay here anymore.”
“Sure! We can stay in the Wild Wolves Pack.”
But Lisa shook her head. “No, we need to go elsewhere. After what happened today, I can’t meet with Cameron anymore. I’m ashamed of what I did.”
I took a deep breath. I understood what she felt, but I was Cameron’s Beta. This was a crucial moment, so I couldn’t leave him, especially now. But if I forced Lisa to stay in our pack, it might create more conflict as she was still our Luna.
Finally, I said, “Let’s plan to move elsewhere after a while. I can’t leave Cameron now. He still needs me. In fact, we must return to our pack as our Elders will surely ask Cameron about what has happened in the Hurricane Dawn Pack.”
