Chapter 84: The Plan

We enjoyed a passionate night. I knew it was only a calm before the storm because tomorrow, the Elders would surely question me about Lisa and our alliance with the Hurricane Dawn Pack. But I tried not to think of it much as it was Anna’s first night with me after she had been kidnapped.

She was already asleep. I caressed her back and kissed her neck. How I wished I could mark her as mine soon. Then I touched her stomach. The belly was rounder now, no longer as flat as it used to be. But it changed nothing, as Anna was still the prettiest she-wolf I’d ever met.

Her swollen lips attracted my eyes to stare. My fingers moved themselves and touched her lips. She moaned in her sleep. I bent forward to taste her sweet lips. Anna sighed and mumbled my name. Even in her sleep, she still thought of me. How marvelous my mate was!

I sucked her neck and left a mark there. It was too bad I couldn’t bite her yet. I traced her long and slender neck with my fingers. Marking her would be a dream come true. “Soon, my love. I promise you.”

As if she heard me, Anna sighed and snuggled closer to me. I reached her face and kissed her tenderly, then brought her to rest on my chest. Her scent calmed me as I prepared what I had to say tomorrow. After a few minutes of thinking, I concluded that I would have a meeting with Elders.

Yes, I could wait until the Elders called me first, but I did nothing wrong. So, I had nothing I must be afraid of. It was horrible to know my father imprisoned Anna to force my hand. However, I also understood why he did it. My father loved our people. He didn’t want us to have an unnecessary battle, not if he could avoid it.

As tomorrow I would face him too as he was the head of Elders, I would try not to place him in the corner. As much as possible, I wouldn’t reveal what he did to Anna. But then, I would blame Lisa entirely, and it wasn’t the right thing to do.

Lisa was Nate’s mate. I promised Nate I would give Lisa to him. No matter what, I didn’t want to ruin their chance to be together, especially because Lisa was pregnant with his pup. I took a deep breath. It was quite complicated. How should I deal with it?

A hand rubbed my chest. “Cameron.”

“Yes, love?”

“Why haven’t you slept yet?” Anna’s sleepy voice was hoarse and low.

I kissed her forehead. “It’s about tomorrow.” Letting out a sigh, I said, “I will ask for a meeting with our Elders and reveal what happened today.”

Anna nodded. She hugged my waist and whispered, “What will you tell them?”

“The truth. But I’m still thinking about how much I should reveal.” I stroked her upper arm. “Why don’t you go back to sleep, love?”

Anna shook his head. “I want to accompany you. I’ve been sleeping earlier. Is there anything I can do?”

“Can you tell me what my father did to you? I mean, when he took you into the empty building. Did he treat you well?” I prayed my father didn’t harm Anna.

“Your father didn’t hurt me if it’s what you wanted to know. I can understand his concern. Because no matter what, you were the future Alpha while I was only an Omega.” She shrugged. “I’m still an Omega. The gap between us is too far. So I can understand why your father didn’t want me to be your mate.”

“It’s all about the peace treaty,” I corrected her. “If there were none, he wouldn’t refuse you to be mine. He didn’t hate you.”

Anna let out a sigh. “I know. So, what do you have in mind?”

“As much as I can, I don’t want to put my father to blame. I don’t want to put all the blame on Lisa, either. I promised Nate I would give Lisa to him after my marking ceremony with Lisa.”

“You have done it,” Anna said, rubbing my chest. “You let Nate mate with Lisa, instead of doing it yourself.”

“Because I can’t ever touch her. She is my brother’s mate.” I creased my forehead. “She is pregnant with his pup. It would be an evil thing if I got laid with her.”

“I know. You did the right thing.”

Then I smiled and touched her cheek. “Also, I have you, Anna. You are my love and my soul. How can I touch another she-wolf when I only have you in my mind?”

“Oh, Cameron ….” Anna sniffed and bent her head lower. “You make me so happy ….”

“I won’t let you down. Not like what I’ve done in our past life. I will protect you until the end.”

Anna nodded, but she hid her face in my chest. I cupped her face so I could look into her eyes. They shone with tears.

“Hey, why are you crying, love?”

“I’m too happy …. I have never thought I’ll feel this way.” She sobbed.

“Like what?” I asked, caressing her hair.

“Like I’m the only one in your life. Like my heart will burst because of happiness. I love you, Cameron.”

“I love you more, my mate. I will fight tomorrow to make the Elders understand our positions.”

Anna nodded while her tears still flowed from her eyes. “I will be there with and for you. Let’s fight together.”

It was a great idea because Anna was the prime victim and witness of what had happened. If she told the Elders what had happened, surely they wouldn’t ignore her report.

I took her hands and placed them on my face. Then I kissed them solemnly. “Thank you, Anna. We will fight together. Now, you must rest.”

“Okay, but only if you sleep, too. You need your strength tomorrow.”

Then I turned her body until her back was on my chest. I hugged her and inhaled, enjoying her sweet smell. It took too much time for me to be sleepy and asleep.
