Chapter 92: A New Suggestion
My father leaned his body backward, resting his back on the couch. His fingers tapped the couch and hummed. I didn’t know why he didn’t ask his question right away.
So, I asked him again. “Father, your question?”
“Mimi, what do you think of serving Anna? Considering your rank is higher than her, it is quite unusual for you to serve her.” My father tapped the couch again.
Mimi smiled. Glancing at Anna for a few seconds then back at my father, she cleared her throat. “Elder Horace, Mistress Anna is good to me. She also considered it weird for me to serve her. But I’m happy to serve her.”
“Why?” my father asked.
“She is nice and kind. Mistress Anna actually did most of the job.” Mimi shrugged and let out a sigh. “I feel bad to know I can only serve little things for her.”
My father hummed for a while, then suddenly he asked Anna. “So, Anna, why did you do most of the job Mimi should do?”
Anna bowed her head to my father. “Elder Horace, with all due respect, Mimi is my superior. She is a Psi while I’m only an Omega. I must work under her, but because of a special situation, Psi Mimi must serve me.” She glanced at me and then bit her lower lip. “I know it’s a punishment for her, but I still think she mustn’t serve me.”
“Indeed!” my father said. “You are right. Violating the rank will create a disharmony, and it’s not something we want to entertain further.”
“Father—” I interjected him because we already talked about this.
However, my father raised his right hand. “Let me finish first. That’s why I want to ask three of you. I will start with Melanie.”
Melanie bowed at my father. “Yes, Elder Horace. What do you want to ask me?”
“What do you think is the best solution to maintain our pack’s harmony?” my father asked.
Melanie frowned. It was unexpected for my father to ask such a question to her. “Uh, stopping Psi Mimi from serving Anna?”
“Correct!” My father raised his thumb. “However, though serving Anna is part of a punishment, Mimi is also happy to serve Anna. What is the best arrangement we can do to keep this going but not ruining the roles in our pack?” Then my father gazed at Mimi. “Well, what do you think, Mimi?”
Mimi touched her nape. She looked at the ceiling and said nothing for a while. Then, she finally said, “Maybe if Mistress Anna’s rank is changed to be higher than me. It will solve everything.”
“Smart girl!” My father clapped and grinned. Then he glanced at Anna. “So, Anna, what do you think about this? Which rank do you think is suitable for you?”
Anna gazed at me, then took a deep breath. “Elder Horace, Alpha and I once discussed this too. It was about your thoughts if I became an Iota or a Mu. I believe I didn’t have enough capability as an Iota, but I can accept to be a Mu.” Then I bit my lower lip. “If you agree, I can work as your maid, starting from today.”
I shook my head. “No, I disagree. Anna is pregnant. She can’t work with daily work as your maid. Please postpone your plan. Though I’m thankful for your consideration, it will still feel odd if Mimi continues serving Anna in a long run. Considering both of them are maids, though their ranks will be quite different.”
My father laughed out loud. His head bent backward. He patted the couch and held his stomach. Then, after his laugh ceased, he grinned. “Anna, my dear, please sit next to me.”
Anna glanced at me. I nodded, as no way my father would harm Anna. She bowed at Elder Tom, then sat next to my father and Elder Tom.
My father held Anna’s hand and patted it. “I have been thinking. I want to ask Elder Tom’s consideration too for this. But I think the most suitable rank for you is not a Mu, my dear.”
“Oh?” Anna raised her eyebrows. “Then what do you think is a better role for me, Elder Horace?”
My father glanced at Elder Tom. After a few seconds, I saw Elder Tom grinned too. Maybe they already communicated through the mind link.
Elder Tom nodded. “I agree with what Elder Horace’s thought. Go on. Tell them.”
“What do you think if you will be the Luna of our pack?” My father grinned.
Anna gasped. She covered her mouth with another hand that my father didn’t hold. But after a few seconds, she shed her tears. “Are you sure, Elder Horace?”
“Yes, my dear.” My father patted Anna’s hand. “I made a mistake that cost our Alpha and you a lot. Now, it’s the right time to amend my mistake. If you accept it, you will help me fix my mistake.” He smiled at Anna. “Besides, you are near your delivery date, aren’t you?”
Anna nodded. “It’s true, Elder Horace.” She rubbed her belly while smiling. “Probably in a week or two from now, I will give birth to my first pup.” Anna glanced at me and smiled. Then she bent her face, blushing. “With your blessing, it will be a great honor and joy if I can be the Luna before I deliver your grandpup.”
“Agree!” Elder Tom said. “The faster, the better. How about three days from now?”
My father beamed at Elder Tom’s suggestion. “I can’t agree more! Let’s do it!”
Melanie and Mimi clapped their hands. Melanie wiped her eyes too. In the middle of happiness, suddenly, Anna gasped.
“What’s wrong, dear?” my father asked. “Is everything alright?”
Anna laughed and wiped her tears. “I’m so happy, and my pup also expressed their happiness. They just kicked my stomach.”
“Oh! Can I feel it?” my father asked. “Though I understand if you don’t want me to do it.”
But Anna shook her head. She reached for my father’s hand and brought it to her stomach. Then my father grinned.
“The pup is kicking again! I’m sure it’s a male! His kick is strong!” My father glanced at me. “Cameron, have you prepared a name for your pup?”
“Not yet, Father. But you can suggest some names. Maybe we can use them.”
“I will certainly think about the good names for my grandpup.”
Elder Tom patted my father’s shoulder. “Let’s focus on the nearest event first—the marking ceremony between our Alpha and our new Luna.”
