Chapter 91: A Question
Lisa bent her head and gazed at the floor afterward. I was sorry for breaking the bond with her because it would be odd to be here after we had no relationship anymore.
Nate stepped forward and held Lisa’s hand. “Are you okay?”
Lisa nodded. She still bent her head. “I’m okay, but I don’t know where I must go now.”
“You can still stay here. You are my mate,” Nate said, caressing Lisa’s back.
“Yes, Lisa. You are the former Luna of the Wild Wolves Pack. The pack is your home too. If you want to stay here, our door will remain open for you,” I offered her.
Lisa glanced at Anna who still sat far from us and then me. She sighed and shook her head. “I think it will be the best to return to my pack. I feel guilty to Anna for what I’ve done. It’s not good if I stay here.”
“Lisa, I know Anna well. She is merciful. Before our meeting today, she told me she understood your situation and didn’t blame you.” I put my hand on Nate’s shoulder. “You are my brother’s mate, the mother of his pup too. I wonder if your delivery time will be due soon. If it’s true, our Theta and Iotas can serve you well.”
Nate grinned at me. ‘Thanks, Bro!’ Then he wrapped his arm around Lisa’s waist. “I will feel better if you are near me.”
But Lisa shook her head. “Right now, my brother and our Elders will blame you all. I can’t let it happen. I must return now to my pack.”
“Are you sure?” Nate asked. His forehead creased as he stared at Lisa.
“Yes,” Lisa said. She didn’t meet Nate’s eye.
Nate put his hand on Lisa’s chin and lifted it so she stared into his eyes. “If it’s your decision, let me send you back to your pack. After the situation gets better, I will fetch you. Agree?”
Lisa nodded. “Yes.”
Nate glanced at me. “I will send Lisa back to her home first. I will return soon, Alpha.”
“Yes, have a safe trip,” I said. Then both of them left the Great Assembly room.
I looked around and smiled. “Thank you for supporting me, my respected Elders. I will count on you more for support and guidance in the future. As our meeting is over, you can return to your houses. Elder Tom and Father, can you wait here? I have something to say.”
Some Elders patted my shoulder. The rest nodded or bowed their heads. While the Elders left the Great Assembly room, my father and Elder Tom remained in the room. The youngsters worked to clean the room.
“How about we talk in my house?” I asked. I wanted to ask for their advice.
Elder Tom nodded. “Sure. Let’s go.”
Four of us walked to my house. Melanie opened the door for us.
Anna glanced at me and whispered, “I will wait in your room.”
I nodded. “I won’t be long.”
Melanie and Anna walked upstairs to my room. I could hear Mimi greet Anna. My father frowned, but he said nothing. We went to my working room. Then my father and Elder Tom took a seat on a couch, while I sat on a single chair.
“Thank you for your support, Elder Tom, Father.” I smiled. “Without your support, I wouldn’t get other Elders’ support.”
“No, Alpha.” Elder Tom smiled while shaking his head. “It’s our duty and honor to support you, as you are on the right side.”
My father said nothing. He only smiled a little. But then, he asked, “Why does Mimi greet Anna as if Anna were her superior?”
I blew my breath. “I haven’t told the complete story. When Lisa brought Anna to the Hurricane Dawn Pack, she was with Mimi. Mimi is our eyewitness of what happened in the Hurricane Dawn Pack. Lisa was completely out of mind and wanted to ruin Anna’s face with a cutter. Mimi defended Anna, but she felt guilty because she was loyal to Lisa.”
“Why didn’t you tell us about this?” my father asked.
“Mimi has accepted my punishment. She is serving Anna as her maid. Also, considering she tried to protect Anna by sacrificing herself, I think it is even. I don’t want to reveal her involvement with others.”
My father massaged his temple. “Despite that, a Psi serves an Omega is not something we can maintain. The order and the role serve to keep the harmony in our pack.”
I nodded. “Yes, Father. I understand. But it’s only a temporary role. I will let Mimi go tonight.”
Elder Tom shook his head. “Alpha, from what I heard, Mimi seemed happy to serve Anna. I have a suggestion.”
“Go on,” I said, encouraging Elder Tom to tell us what he thought.
“Considering Anna is your mistress and the mother of your pup, it makes sense to have another marking ceremony soon. With Miss Lisa no longer as our Luna, you need a new Luna. Our own people as Luna will fulfill the role better.” Elder Tom smiled. “What do you think, Elder Horace?”
I held my breath as I waited for what my father said regarding this matter. My father tapped his fingers on the couch.
“I think we need to ask Anna first. Probably we can ask Mimi and another she-wolf I saw. I forgot her name,” my father said. His expression didn’t show whether he agreed with Elder Tom’s suggestion.
“It’s Melanie, Father. She is Anna’s best friend. She helped us too when we saved Anna. That’s why she also talked in the Great Assembly room today.”
“If Mimi and Melanie support Anna to be your Luna, it’s good. But if they disagree, we will talk later about it.”
It was odd that my father wanted to ask two people to reach a decision. I knew Melanie would support Anna. However, it was different with Mimi. But who knew? So, I asked Melanie to bring Anna and Mimi to our working room. When the three of them came, I stood and pointed at another couch.
“Please sit down. We have something to ask of the three of you,” I said.
They sat next to each other on the opposite couch of my father and Elder Tom sat. Mimi’s face was paler than usual. Anna and Melanie asked through their eyes.
“Father, please ask the question.”
