10 ~ The Secrets
CASSANDRA POV
Reaching my room, I sat patiently on my bed. My roommate was still having her lunch and I was pretending to have mine.
My genius brain was continuously laughing at the fool proof plan I made. First, I had to find a secret letter template for information. Then, I had to find out the letter deliverer of our Kingdom. As much as I knew, she was also enslaved along with us.
Then, I had to send the letter.
But, the problem was that I didn't know where we actually were. This place was in the middle of the high sea and I didnt even know which sea it was. I couldn't even ask anyone because if they get suspicious of me. Then, I would be sliced into pieces first then fed to the fishes.
The thought alone scared me a lot. But, in no way I should be sitting like this.
There was only one option left. I had to win the trust of the most powerful person here, the King himself. He had control over everyone and if I got control over him. I would be free from here forever.
A slight smile was visible on my face as I could already see myself getting out of this suffocated place and the reign of Ryan Castro.
My roommate left the room after lunch and I closed the door quickly once she left.
Opening my safe, I searched for the address. I tossed and took out all my clothes from the safe. Yes, the soldiers of Castro Kingdom also took our belongings with us. Jewellery, essentials and all valuable things.
Finally, my sight fell on the white cloth. It was made of lite cotton and the address on it was painted in white color too. This technique was used to hide the important messages from everyone.
I lit the candles and closed all the windows with dark color.
My heart was already racing insanely and slowly.
I placed the linen cloth near the light of the candle and the reflection made me see the imprints of writing. I found the address and remembered it.
*Knock*
*Knock*
I shivered to the core when I heard the loud tapping on the door.
I quickly placed everything back and ran towards the door.
Opening it my sight fell on an old lady, whose eyes burning with anger as she yelled at me.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
My lips trembled and voice hung in my throat imagining what would happen if they ever found out my secret.
“Nothing,” I tried to behave normal.
“Don't you know it's time for his highness’s lunch,” She again yelled at me.
“Oh, it's lunch time,” I digested the new information.
“Go to his chamber now,” She ordered.
I nodded quickly and locked the room behind me.
Ignoring her, I quickly climbed the stairs for Ryan's chamber. Because, he was my next target now. Meanwhile I would find my people here, I had to take care of him too.
I entered his chamber and my sight fell on a few attendees setting up his lunch table.
I calmed down my racing heart beats as I walked closer to them.
But, it only raced when I saw the dead animals cooked and decorated on the plate and the insane amount of food.
"Does he eat that much?"
I unknowingly spoke.
"Of Course,"
One of them caught my attention.
Suddenly, my attention diverted to the slow footsteps approaching towards the chamber.
Unwantedly, the visions of whatever happened this morning made me feel weak in my knees.
I collected all my strength but it went in vain when my eyes darted on him.
The dark brown attire and the perfectly combed hair, he was looking really devilish and attractive.
My eyes refuse to look at anything but him. The tall body and the well carved broad shoulder. A bunch of soldiers walked behind him and then the green orbs landed on me.
Our eyes met and the insane sparks ran in my body.
A thousand shivers made my cheeks blush insanely and weakened my knees.
The soldiers stopped out of the door and my sight noticed the other women leaving the chamber already and closing the door behind.
Don't leave me alone with him.
My inner strength barked on them but nothing came out of my mouth.
"Cass,"
He called slowly.
I gulped nervously as he stood taller against me.
His fingers slowly touched my chin as he asked.
"Are you hiding something,"
My eyes came out of socket, I felt immense hotness in my cheeks and my stomach twisted in a very wrong way.
"Nooo,"
I instantly stated.
His eyebrows thinned as he continued feathering my chin and muttered.
"Then, why do you look so scared?"
"Scared?,"
I chuckled a little.
"I am not scared,"
I tried to hide my throbbing heartbeats. But, my eyes blinked nervously as he came closer. His face enlarged and my eyes closed automatically as he leaned into my ear.
I felt warmness in my cheeks and he muttered something.
"Aren't you wet again?"
That made me push him away in a jerk, all of sudden.
"Nooo,"
He chuckled and walked slowly, sitting into his chair.
He washed his hands in the nearby pot and started eating.
He took the biggest piece of fried chicken and pierced it with his teeth. I gulped as the red spice stuck to his lips.
"Do you eat humans too?"
I tried to ask as I wanted to know the result of my escape plan, if I failed.
"Of Course,"
He said casually having another bite.
"When the people become useless, we eat them. Specially the beautiful girls with red hairs,"
He said and I was scared to death.
I took a step back. I really need to rethink my plan to make it work cent percent.
He chuckled suddenly and asked.
"Have you had lunch?"
I nodded immediately.
"Good,"
He muttered and ate silently.
I kept standing until he finished his lunch. My eyes unknowingly steal glances at him. I could see how satisfied he was feeling with the food. His lips turned glossy with the oil and spice.
My stomach was getting twisted looking at him. It was like I was becoming a moth and he was a flame. I didn't know why I was getting so much attracted to him. His voice, gestures, those long fingers feathering my chin, his tall and strong body dominating over me was affecting me to the core.
Even looking at him patiently was pulling me to him. The more, I was thinking of not thinking about him, the more I was reminding him.
"I am done,"
I shivered all of a sudden.
"Can you ask someone to clear this?"
He asked drying his hands with the towel.
I nodded absentmindedly.
Calling the guard standing out of door, I asked him to call someone for the same.
"Cass,"
Ryan called.
I turned to look at him.
"You told me that your grandmother knew magic, right?"
He asked and I walked closer to him.
"Yes," I nodded.
"What kind of magic?"
I thinned my eyebrows as he asked, walking towards the balcony.
I followed him slowly and recalled my childhood memories that I spent with my grandmother. She was someone very special to me. Because, my parents died in a deadly war when I was born. My grandmother did my upbringing and she passed too when I was thirteen.
But, she was really caring and strict too. I remember how she was disciplined and followed her time table. She was very much devoted to magic as she was brought up between magicians and witches.
"I don't know much, but she uses her cosmic energy and focus to create things. She had her book, which she didn't allow anyone to touch. And, she always used to say that my magic will passed on to the right heir after my death,"
I tried to say as I stood beside him on the balcony.
"Which book?"
He questioned immediately thinning her eyebrows.
I thinned mine as I literally didn't know where the Angiopatra was right now.
"I don't know,"
I stated.
"Cass, you said that you were brought into life by the grandmother?"
He asked and I nodded.
This was true. Everyone in my kingdom believed that my grandmother was behind my birth because neither my mother was pregnant nor she was alive when I took birth. She passed away a year before I was born.
"Then, you must be the heir,"
My heart beats racing hearing him. What did he mean?
He slowly came closer to me and stood against me. His fingers again touched my chin and damn the sparks. I felt them again, even the stronger one. I blinked nervously as he stroked my chin with his thumb and muttered.
"I need you, princess"
