Stacy scoffed, “You keep on coddling her ass because she’s new to our pack. From the rumors, I heard that she’s from her past Shadow pack who attempted to kill the mate of her crush…isn’t that right, Kamilah?”
Everyone got quiet at that, watching Stacy with wide eyes.
Dimitri rolled his eyes, “Shut up, Stacy.”
I pursed my lips, gulping down the lump in my throat as I remember that scene again. Stacy knows this is my weakness and she is using this as a chance to put me down.
Dimitri wanted to stop me but he sighed and just let me.
I cleared my throat and spoke up, “Let me be clear, Stacy since you brought up my past.” I started, breathing in. “I was blinded by too much rage and jealousy that time that I attempted to kill my beloved’s mate. But I didn’t manage since they stopped me, so technically, I didn’t kill anyone.”
I approached her and whispered in her ears, “So watch what you say, I’m stronger than you, so don’t keep pushing my limit or you’ll surely be out of sight.” I added with a smirk and she shuddered, trembling at my words.
That should be enough to scare her right?
“Did you hear that, Alpha Magnus?” She clung to Alpha Magnus’s arms and yelled, “She just openly announced she’ll kill me!”
Alpha Magnus shook her hand away, “Behave yourself.”
Stacy sniffed a tear, pouting.
I looked at everyone, especially Owen who was still glaring at me.
I gulped, wanting to talk to him, but I could feel Alpha Magnus hard gaze on me, stopping me from even moving toward him. It’s best that I should listen to his advice and not get closer to Owen….
It’s best to talk things out, but it's better to let the other person that is grieving let him have his own space.
I cleared my throat, “I admit it’s my fault for not being able to protect Tyra on time. I should have gotten there in time. I was the only one there to help her but I didn’t. I admit to my mistakes. But you don't have the right to pinpoint that I’m the killer when she’s so dear to me too.” I explained to everyone, “I swear the moment I’ll find the attacker, I’ll give his head to you personally, Owen.”
The night ended as the ceremony for Tyra’s burial finished. Everyone got back to their houses and rooms, the air around us tasted bitter and mellow.
Alpha Magnus approached me, his eyes held so much intensity as he glared at me, “I told you to not say anything until we found the killer.”
“Why? They deserve to know and it's time not to hide in your shadows. As you said, I have to show them what I’m capable of. I have to intimidate them too.”
He shook his head, “You should be careful with your words, Kamilah. Words are bullets that need to be compromised.”
And he walked away from me.
I was quiet as Dimitri escorted me back to my room.
I looked behind him seeing Alpha Magnus transforming and going to the woods. “What about Alpha Magnus?”
“He will personally take charge of patrol duty tonight. I’ll come to him too after you sleep now.”
My ears perked up, “I want to come too.”
“No, it’s dangerous. We never know when the next attack will be. So you should be careful. The attacker is going after you especially.”
I sighed, finally giving in as I watched Dimitri walk out and transform into his sandy wolf.
I wasn’t able to sleep that night, completely alert for anything. I am prepared to transform and fight back if ever the attacker will return to me.
When I woke up the next day, I went to eat meat and wanted to go to train myself. Alpha Magnus was nowhere, and it was only Dimitri who stayed to keep an eye on me.
“Where are you going?” He asked and I shrugged.
“To the training grounds.”
“No, Alpha Magnus canceled it for today. You can sleep for the day.”
I shook my head, “I couldn’t sleep that much, anyway.”
I waited for Dimitri to get busy and I instantly ran out of the house. I looked in the direction of Tyra’s house to my left…seeing it was lonely and quiet.
I passed by Owen who just got inside Tyra’s house and he didn’t even bother saying hi to me.
He must really hate me right now. I couldn’t blame him for that. I gulped, walking to the training grounds.
I jogged around and did some curl-ups, push-ups, and some routines before punching the punching bag, imagining it was Tyra’s killer.
The training ground was empty today, which is good so I could be left alone with my thoughts and focus.
“You need some help?”
Asked another man from behind me. I glanced at him, noticing that I’m not familiar with him. I don’t see him around and…he’s too pale for a werewolf.
Judging from the smell, I instantly knew it. No…it’s a vampire.
I growled, howling to signal the rest of the pack members, and instantly prepared myself to transform and bite his head off when he stopped me.
“Chill, babe. I’m here to make friends with you.” He calmly said and I grabbed his throat.
“Who are you and tell me what is your purpose for trespassing into the BloodLust pack?”
He raised his hands up in surrender, “Oh, My name’s Gusev. And I am friends with Alpha Magnus.” He then whispered, “I know who killed Tyra. I saw the killer.”
