Don't you trust me?
Suddenly, he paused, stopping his lips on me. “I….need to stop, before I lose control, Kamilah.”
I blinked at him as if a zap woke me up from my senses. I averted my gaze to the ground and bit my lip as I struggled to comprehend what just happened. That was intense. And I instantly felt the connection between us.
“You might hate me tomorrow if we continue doing this.” He added, trying to reassure me.
He’s right. As I could think now, I am hating him for this. For making me feel this way. For having to make my thoughts run over again, bothering and buzzing around my mind.
Great. Not to mention, my heart is not stopping from beating so rapidly.
I breathed deeply, fixing my stubborn hair that was messed up because of his hands and my blouse that was a bit unbuttoned and trying to think against the awkward silence between us. “I respect you as my mate, and I want to continue so badly, but I don’t want you to get caught up in the heat of the moment, to be forced because I wanted to…. I want you to want me yourself, to seek me yourself.”
By saying that, he didn’t even let me respond, “We’ll talk later.” He walked away and left me alone in his study.
I stared blankly at the wall in front of me, letting everything run in my thoughts and sink. It’s a bit hard to let everything in at once.
I walked towards my room with my head empty and Alpha Magnus out of sight. I’m so confused right now, I couldn’t even think straight…
Fear for the future. Scared of what will happen. Uncertainty….
But among all of these, I could think of how he’s really my mate…
The thought scared and intimidated me earlier, but now, I don’t know what to feel.
But I want to be the one in charge. I want to be the one leading. And since I have the abilities now, I could make that happen. Should I give him a chance? I bit my lips, the kiss we had playing in my mind again and blood rushed in my cheeks, my breath hitching.
Alpha Magnus seems decent and it’s an alpha we are talking about. Never in my life did I expect to be an alpha’s mate…It should be an honor….so why am I not feeling that?
I need to talk to him now. Going back to his office, I bit my lip nervously and wanted to open the door when a hand stopped me.
“Oh hello there.”
Dimitri's goofy smile greeted me.
I smiled back, acknowledging his presence, “Dimitri..”
He glanced at the door and at my hand, “So what are you doing here? It’s past curfew.”
“Oh..” I didn’t know it was past curfew. It’s past midnight, so everyone is asleep…
Dimitri stood by the door and blocked my way. “What are you doing here?”
“I want to talk to the alpha,” I answered, wanting to clear my head off. I have a few questions I’d like to ask him before giving him a chance…
Dimitri looked at my eyes as if attempting to read what I was thinking, “You can’t do that tomorrow?”
“I’m afraid I might forget it..”
He nodded, “But the alpha is busy..” He was still blocking the door. I wanted to take a peek at what he was doing inside but Dimitri was keen on not letting me…
He’s acting suspiciously...What is the alpha doing inside that makes him act weird like this? Are they hiding something?
“Is he…having a meeting?” I asked suspiciously.
“No-I mean yes!”
“Then let me in,” I continued pestering him, not keen on backing down, “he said I could come in anytime I want. We had not finished our conversation earlier.”
He pointed at the window to our right, “Wow, the full moon is captivating tonight, don’t you think?”
I looked at the moon and realized he was distracting me. I instantly pushed Dimitri off the door and opened it, to see something inside I didn’t expect.
In front of the desk was Alpha Magnus, holding a woman in his arms as the woman was closing his eyes, savoring the moment. Alpha Magnus was kissing the woman on the neck, creating a bitemark and I could smell the woman’s blood all over his desk. No, it’s not just some woman. It’s a human.
My mouth opened and I was rooted in my spot.
Wow.
Alpha Magnus didn’t seem to notice my presence, too enchanted at the moment…
I couldn't help but just gasp at the moment. He was saying promising words to me, saying I was his mate, when he had someone in his arms right now…
Alpha Magnus’s head turned to me, his eyes blazing red and he was breathing hard. His fangs were showing and he looked like he could jump and kill me anytime so I instantly closed the door and ran. Dimitri saw me, calling for my name but I didn’t stop.
I stayed in my room for the whole week. I had done a lot of rethinking my decisions in life. It was a good thing Dimitri sent me food over so I won’t starve but no matter what thinking I’ll do, the image still remained in my mind… Dimitri wanted to talk about what happened, but I only know that he’ll just give excuses for his master…
If Alpha Magnus wanted to talk to me, then he should come to me. But seeing the image again makes the stomach churn that I wanted to kill the woman in his arms right there and then.
Finally regaining my thoughts, I planned on something. Looking at the open window, I glanced outside and saw no one was there except a few guards that are assigned to patrol the area. Other than those patrol guards, there was no one. It seems that everyone was still grieving the loss of Tyra…. It has been a week that passed but they still hold memories of her.
But this will be the perfect chance for me.
To leave.
I waited for an hour before I took my chance. Since I don’t have many things here and was all given by Alpha Magnus, I decided not to bring them with me. I opened the wooden window and jumped down. The height wasn’t that high so I didn’t get injured on the way.
Taking a glance at each side, I continued walking normally but was stopped by some patrol guard.
“Hey, you!” I halted as he yelled at me. “Stop right there, she-wolf.”
I muttered a curse and sighed, now facing the patrol, “Hey.” I awkwardly waved.
His mouth formed an o as soon as he recognized me and cleared his throat, “Oh, Miss Kamilah, the new member. Can I ask where you are going? You’re heading towards the town and that’s out of Alpha Magnus territory. We are on high alert now, as you can see…”
I chuckled, thinking of a way to get out of this. A little lie wouldn’t hurt, right?
“The alpha asked me to go grab him some beer, you know him.”
His head cocked to the side, “Oh? But we still have some supply…as far as I’m concerned.”
I shrugged, trying to play it cool, “He probably got tired of the taste, wanted a freshly made one. If you don’t believe me then you can ask him yourself-”
He shook his head instantly, “No! It’s fine, I believe you. You’re close to the alpha.”
With one last smile and him motioning me to continue, I smiled as I continued on my way. The guard even waved at me before minding his own business.
I sighed in relief as I felt free as I got closer and closer to leaving the Blood lust Pack’s territory when I heard a deep voice behind me.
“It seems you chose to leave my pack.”
I looked behind me and saw Alpha Magnus, running beside me in his wolf form. He had transformed into a black giant wolf, which is a lot bigger than me.
“I appreciate your help but…I don't want to stay in your pack, Alpha Magnus,” I responded, my feet were shaking a bit but I stood my ground. I wanted the ground to eat me right then and there.
His face darkened and something in his eyes flashed with red, now in a rage, “You’ve been avoiding me, Kamilah.” He demanded, his voice sounding hurt for some reason.
“No, we won’t,” I replied firmly. How dare he have the nerve to show his face on me, like it was no big deal? Like nothing happened? I don’t know if he’s playing some games to me, pretending to forget about that night or if he was just thick-faced.
“But you are my mate.” He said with so much weight, his voice growing and his eyes glaring at me. “You have to stay by my side, Kamilah.”
I swallowed, now turning away from him. I don’t want any mate thing for me. I am fine alone. Yes, he could protect me, he’s the famous Alpha Magnus for goodness sake.
But that’s not enough to confirm my doubts.
Doubts about his loyalty. Doubts he would find another woman. A human. He’s too overbearing for me. And I’m too disobedient. We are not a match. Maybe she should have been with Stacy. I couldn't help but think…
“Just let her go,” growled another voice and I looked behind me to see Owen fiercely glaring at Alpha Magnus.
I furrowed my eyebrows, “What are you doing here, Owen?”
He just gave a glance at me before throwing daggers at Alpha Magnus, “If you love her, let her leave, Alpha.”
Alpha Magnus’ eyes darkened, “This is out of your business, Owen. You are defying me as your Alpha.”
“As an alpha? I’m tired of that bullshit hierarchy. It’s best that I’ll go rogue.” He said firmly, making me widen my eyes in shock. “It’s your fault my mate died. What happens if you let Kamilah die here too?”
Owen dared to say that in front of his alpha? Is he having a death wish? What did he eat today to be this courageous?
Alpha Magnus’ glare couldn’t even back him down. He’s surely certain of his decision.
“I won’t let her die on my watch. Never.” Magnus replied, his eyes held a heavy emotion as he stared at me, each word he dropped was heavy to bear. I avoided his stare. “Don’t you trust me, Kamilah?”
