Chapter 12 I Have You Luther
Laura Angel POV
Hearing what the little tink said pushes me over the edge. I take flight and fly ahead of Luther to our home. I want answers from Selene. What was she doing with the wolves last night? What was in the box she went to get from her house last night? Why? More than anything, I want to know why.
I thought Selene wanted Luther and me together. Was there another motive for having me with her son? What is it? I fly as fast as I can. Luther is coming up quickly. I can hear him growling and calling out to me. "Laura Angel, wait for me. Do not do this alone; wait for me," Luther call out to me.
I cannot stop. I need to get to that bitch! I will have my answers. I land in front of the house. I look back to see Ando and Luther coming fast. I run into the house. The place is quiet. Did she take the coward way out and leave? Stupid bitch, she probably ran when she realized the little tink was going to rat her out.
I run from room to room, looking for her. Nothing. Even Luther's father is gone. I notice there is a box on the bed. I get closer to it. Tick Tick Tick I hear coming from the box. Luther comes into the house with Ando. "Laura! What the hell were you thinking taking off like that! You should have waited for me!" He screams from the front door.
I run toward him. "BOMB! There is a bomb in the house!" I scream. Luther grabs me and takes me into his arms. He runs out of the house with me. Ando and Luther land on the ground, covering me as the bomb explodes.
Luther and Ando keep me covered until they feel I am safe. Our home is on fire. This betrayal is so much more profound than I thought. Luther helps me to my feet. "Are you okay?" he asks.
My ears are ringing, and I am filthy. "Yes, I am great. My parents are dead, my tribe is displaced, and my mother-in-law is trying to kill me. I am having a great day," I answer him.
"Physically, Laura, are you physically hurt?" Luther asks me. He is slightly pissed with me. I do not blame him, and I guess that was stupid of me.
I look down at myself. "I am fine, but your crazy mother is nowhere to be found. She was not in the house," I say.
"She could not go far. There is nowhere for her to go. She has no family, and all of my father's family is dead," Luther says.
"Us either. Our home is destroyed. We have no home, Luther," I say.
"There are plenty of cabins here, and you have plenty of space in the fairy tribe lands also. We have a home. Most importantly, we are alive," Luther says.
"I guess you are right," I say.
I look over at Ando. He is watching the fire. It creeps me out at first. Then I realize he is studying the fire. "This is exactly what the fire looked like at the fairy tribe lands. Your mother helped set the tribe lands on fire," Ando says.
Luther shakes his head. "I want to know why she is doing this," Luther says.
"Yeah, me too," Ando says.
I want to know too. Why is Luther's mother trying to kill my tribe and me? What in the hell did we ever do to her? I fall into Luther. "Are you alright?" Luther asks.
"Yes, my ears are ringing, but I am okay," I answer him.
"Let's get someone to look at you," Luther says.
"No, we have too much to do. We do not have time," I protest.
Luther looks down at me. His eyes sharpen, and he looks at me disapproving. "As your husband, I insist you see a doctor," Luther says.
"As the Queen, I protest," I answer him.
"You are really pissing me off. You need to let the doctor look at you, then we are going to the fairy tribe lands to see the damage," Luther demands.
"Fine," I agree.
"Ando, I am taking her to see the doctor. Get a few wolves to put out the fire, and then see what you can find. I will be back when we are finished with the doctor. I want you with us when we go to the fairy tribe lands. You got a good eye. I need it to help me look around. And see if you can locate my brothers," Luther says to Ando.
Luther takes my hand. "Can you walk to the fairy doctor, or do you want me to drive you?" Luther asks.
"I can fly," I say. I try to take flight, but then I realize my wings are damaged.
"Well, at least you cannot fly ahead of me," Luther says.
"It is not far. I can walk," I say. Luther looks at my wings.
"They are bent up really bad. Your wings look warped or something," Luther says.
He takes my hand. His truck is on fire from the blast. "I have another truck in the barn," he says.
We start walking toward the barn. My ears begin to ring louder. "Luther, something is wrong," I say.
"Laura," Luther screams. I feel myself fall into his arms. I am in and out as he picks me up and carries me to the barn. I feel him put me in the truck. I hear the truck crank and then total darkness.
"Laura," Bido says, the fairy doctor.
I open my eyes, and I am in one of the cabins. Sammie and Shelby are with me, fluttering around me.
"Sammie, Shelby," I whisper. The two tinks are fluttering and smiling, happy I am awake.
"Are you okay, Queen Laura?" Sammie asks me.
"I think so," I answer her. My head is pounding, and my ears are ringing.
"Luther is worried about you," Sammie says. She giggles.
"Where is he?" I ask Sammie. She flutters down close to me. She lands beside me.
"Your husband will be right back," Sammie says.
My eyes get big. I have not told the tribe yet, but miss nosey knows everything. "Where did he go?" I ask.
Luther comes into the room with me. "She is okay. She hit her head, and her wings are damaged, but our queen will be okay," Bido tells Luther.
"Thank you," Luther says to Bido. Luther comes to my side. He kisses me on the forehead. This makes the tinks giggle. The fairies begin to enter the room to check on me. Luther is holding my hand. They look puzzled as they each take turns coming into the room.
"Sammie, can you and Shelby make an announcement for your Queen?" I ask her.
"Yes, what would you like for me to announce?" Sammie asks.
"Please let the tribe know that Alpha Luther is also King Luther and that I am Queen Luna Laura. Luther and I are married. He will be the King of the fairies," I say to Sammie.
Sammie dashes out of the room to make the announcement for me. "How do you think they will take it?" Luther asks.
"Well, I think it will be fine, King Alpha," I answer.
"And if they protest?" Luther asks.
"Well, I guess I will not be queen anymore," I say to him.
"You will always be my queen," Luther says. He kisses me on the lips.
"Please get me out of here. We have things to do," I say to Luther.
"Are you sure you do not need to rest, my queen?" Luther asks me.
"I have you to carry me," I say.
"That you do," Luther says.
