My legs became shaky, my heart almost jumped out of my chest and I looked overwhelmed in Pasqua's direction, who turned to me at that moment because he probably noticed that I had stopped.
"Aria?" It came out of his mouth questioningly and I stared at him for help, certain that there was a wolf in the forest next to us who was sure to be watching us constantly.
"I have to go immediately," I uttered quietly and then simply turned around. I walked faster and faster back to the main house and when I was out of sight of them I ran as fast as I could to my scooter and sat on it to start it with shaking hands.
As I pulled away and drove down the broad main street, I realized one thing. I couldn't go home. I felt like I was being watched, even now that I was in constant motion, and then another thought came to me. If he wanted to find my home, he could easily find it. Even my sense of smell reached almost the entire small town...
Such a disaster!!!
I slowed down and stood on the side of the road for a short time to try to think clearly. It all came so quickly and unexpectedly, and yet I knew my mate would find me one day.
Even my she-wolf cried for him on a full moon and showed me her pain, which was caused by his absence and was almost unbearable...
But I let the pain because I knew why he was looking for me. Solely to procreate, because according to the rumors, there were hardly any female werewolves left due to the constant vampire attacks...
As I continued to think about what I should do now, his unmistakable smell rose in my nose again, and startled, I turned my head slightly to the right to look concentrated into the forest, but I still couldn't see anything. But I was fully aware of his presence because my wolf howled constantly and even my human body showed me signs. The pleasant goosebumps ran down my arms and deep into my neck and when I suddenly heard the cracking of the branches next to me, everything inside me contracted and I accelerated again to drive home on my scooter.
He wouldn't get me that easily...
I got home with a racing heart and the first thing I saw was the open front door, which sent a shiver down my spine. Gloria was always out at this time and when I took off my helmet and noticed various strange smells I was about to transform, but when I suddenly saw our neighbors in their front yard I decided not to.
I really didn't want to be in the newspaper tomorrow...
I walked cautiously to the front door, took one slow step after the other inside, and felt my heart skip a beat when I realized in a panic that all the drawers and cupboards were open. It looked like there had been a robbery here, and I'm sure that's what most people would think, but I knew better.
"Sure vampires," I suddenly heard someone behind me and turned around, wide-eyed, taking a deep breath and realizing it was him. He whose smell was the most beautiful on this earth for me. He was studying me with his dark brown eyes. He, who took a step closer to me and whose appearance I was so smitten with at first that I could neither move nor say anything.
Until I remembered that I didn't want him.
"Stay away from me!" I growled, taking a step backward, causing him to give me an irritated look and lick his lips... Was he about to pounce on me right here? He would like to!
"What if not?" he said provocatively, running his fingers through his black hair, which looked perfect even when it was tousled. I just wondered how he had managed so quickly to watch me as a wolf and now stand in front of me in jeans and a white shirt. My eyes fell on his tattooed arms and when I realized that he must be an alpha male, my blood froze in my veins and I widened my eyes in disbelief.
"Then I'll fight you!" I replied bravely and didn't even think about submitting to an alpha, although my wolf was already trying to force me to do so with her howling, I didn't give in. My human, combative side was much too pronounced for that.
"Fight?" he repeated, grabbing my arm in one quick motion to pull me close to him. "I don't have to fight for something that's already mine."
He breathed those words into my face with a grin and gently stroked my cheek, making me swallow hard and try to free myself, but no matter how hard I pressed against his chest, he wouldn't let go.
"I don't belong to anyone!" I let him know, looking into his eyes angrily, but he even seemed amused by my pathetic attempt to defend myself.
"Now I'm going to go kill that vampire that ventured into your house. Then you have time to pack your things. I'll pick you up as soon as it gets dark."
He let go of me immediately after his ominous-sounding statement and I watched, frozen, as he left my house and closed the door behind him.
Did he still have all the cups in the cupboard?!
