Chapter 11
When the rogue tries to spit on me, I laugh. Kneeling, I spat in his face. "You had a poor aim; I thought I would instruct you on how to aim your spit. Now I realize we didn't have a great start; l will even ask please. Will you please tell me where the nearest pack is that you and your rogue cohorts haven't killed yet is?"
The rogue smiles a toothless grin, letting out an odor from his mouth that reeks of dead onions and other trash I can't label. Covering my nose, I kick him in the face for having such a disgusting smell coming out of his mouth.
I notice the rogue take a pill out of his pocket and throw it in his mouth, swallowing the pill. He falls over dead. Darn he took a cyanide tablet, killed himself. I look over at my twin and just shake my head and shrug my shoulders.
"Well, Colt, show the way to the freeway.,"
Once we make it to the freeway, I turn on my phone.
"Colt, I do not want them tracking me. I have a very guarded life, and I would like time to myself first. No brothers, no mates. I need to figure out who I am first. Right now, since I turned on my phone, I guarantee you my brother and the prince are on their way right now. I'm calling my brother to let him know I'm OK.
He could think he is going to pick me up, but I will be far away by the time he arrives. I'll type in the flip phone number I have on my phone. This is for emergencies, so we can do that twin thing we never got to do, such as sharing secrets.."
Colt –
"No worries, anything for you, as long as someone knows where you are and how you are doing, I am good with this. I am glad you chose me to be that person. Thank you."
Clair –
I take my phone, selecting my brother Cameron's name from my contact list. The phone rings and I have a very concerned brother on the phone. I can also hear Xander in the background. Uggghh that guy has the sexiest voice. "Clair, how are you, where are you? I have been so worried."
"The good news is my twin is alive! We were both kidnapped by rogues, but we escaped. His name is Colt, funny huh, even though he was not raised with us, he still has that,"C" name. They whipped his sister with a silver whip tipped with wolf's bane. She is injured, and I believe she is only 7 years old.
I believe you have my phone location, but move fast, she has a fever. I will let Colt tell you his story, and if his parents are alive, do not kill them. I need to sit next to a tree for a few minutes and close my eyes. We are next to the freeway. I am cutting this call short before the phone dies."
I hang up the phone before he can reply.
"Okay Colt, now we need to hurry, knowing the prince he may get a helicopter to fetch me. So, we are short on time. Do you have cash?"
"Yeh, I pulled a bunch out of the safe when we knew we were going to be on the run. Why how much do you need?"
"I want it all. I am wealthy, so you can take my bank card. That way, if they trace me with my bank card, it will come back to you. Take what I owe you and open your own account. Then cut up the card."
Colt turns around to get his money, I am uncertain I like where he has hidden the money. Colt's back is towards me, but I can tell he is reaching deep into his pants. Rolling my eyes Uggghh. Colt turns around with a baggie. Full of cash.
"Colt, where did you get that from? Never mind, could you just take that out of the bag and give me the cash?"
I hand him my bank card, and he hands me the money. With a chuckle in my heart, I almost feel as if we are conducting an illegal transaction.
"I was wondering how much you gave to me. Colt?"
Colt smiles and replies, "Five hundred thousand dollars."
"Thank you very much," I reply.
Having hugged my brother, I go behind a tree and undressed, tying my clothes to my leg as I did so. Then I transform into my wolf's form; I walk over to my brother; I bark at him and after that I make my way into the woods, headed south.
Colt –
Watching her run into the woods, I feel sad that I can't spend more time with her. Although I don't understand why she wants to run away from those who love her, I can see that it really bothers her. It didn't matter that I couldn't understand her turmoil; it was still as real to her as anything else. My priority is to make sure she has the time she needs.
There is a loud noise that catches my attention. Laughing, I realize Clair is right. There is indeed a helicopter landing on the freeway. I am holding my little sister in my arms as the helicopter lands. I see two men get out of the helicopter and run towards me, followed by five others.
Among the men, I notice a man who looks like me, and I guess this is Cameron, the eldest brother of Clair and me. When he sees my little sister, he calls for one of our brothers to grab her. After they take my little sister, I reach out to shake his hand. Unfortunately, because of the noise, it is hard to hear him. I get the impression that he wants to know where Clair is. The man next to Cameron is eminently authoritative; I assume he is Clair's mate.
As I look at Cameron, I tell him she has run away. Finally, I show by using my hands that she ran into the woods. Cameron and her mate are both furious. They order me to follow them into their helicopter.
Once in the air, it takes no time to land on the pack's landing pad. In the waiting area is an ambulance for my sister.
I also see other people; I am uncertain who they are, but they seem to be my biological parents. It is heartbreaking to watch this woman crying, and I can only imagine how she is feeling. At this moment, I am in a state of conflict. While the woman who raised me was an exceptional mother, it doesn't change the fact that she took me from the woman who is crying right now.
I couldn't imagine what it is like losing a child, that child being me. Once outside the helicopter, I make sure I follow behind the medics as they take my sister. To avoid being rude, I point at my sister, explaining I must stay with her. "I'll follow the ambulance," she says, nodding.
Clair is heading south through the woods, not sure where she will end up next. There are quite a few rogues roaming around the woods, and Claire smells something rotten in the air. Clair does not want to leave a trail of her scent behind, so she finds a mud puddle and rolls in it.
Clair heads south again, and on her way she sees a group of dead rogues. They have shot the rogues with a rifle. Hunters must have done this. It is imperative for Claire to maintain an appropriate level of caution, but this is also an opportune moment for her.
To become this rogue in a city, she is going to take the credentials from the rogue that are dead and become that rogue. She finds a she-wolf with a look like hers and takes the women's clothes, purse, and wallet that contain identifying information and carries them away.
Clair freezes as she hears the crunching of leaves.
