Chapter 14

The woman that answers the door and speaks.

"I know, dear, you can't place my scent. No, I am not human. I am a sorcerous, as were my parents before me, we date all the way back thousands of years ago, from when Zeus had an affair with a grandmother. Thus, we took on Zeus' magic throughout the generations. Now I have answered your unspoken questions. Let's talk, have a seat at the dining room table while I make us tea."

Clair –

It seems strange to me. Can this woman read my mind? Will I be better off running? As she guides me to the table, I take my seat and sit at the table, frozen.

Esmeralda sits the cups of tea in front of her and I. "Now dear, let me hold your hand."

Esmeralda –

"Clair, I may seem trancelike for a few minutes, but do not worry all is well. Yes, I know who you are, I'll explain later."

Clair -

While I watch Esmeralda silently, all kinds of questions swirl in my head as I watch. I don't know why, but I trust Esmeralda for some weird reason that I don't understand.

I am not sure how long we just sat there while she was trancelike. However, when she comes she smiles softly at me.

Esmeralda -

"Sweetheart, I see how stressed you are. Since I am a sorcerous, I can see things in your aura, not in your mind, it tells me who you are."

Clair -

I watch Esmeralda take our teacups to the kitchen and rinse them out. She reminds me of a hippie with flowing calf length skirts.

Esmeralda -

"My understanding is that you need to take some time before you take on the responsibilities that await you. I see that your mate also needs a change. He needs to realize controls are not important; loyalty, love, and honesty are. I agree that the separation is a good thing for both of you. However, you should not be gone so long that you do not want to go back. Your destiny is to be the queen. You will help many people and not just werewolves."

Clair -

I am terrified of becoming a queen and I am terrified of having a mate. My parents love each other, but all the Alphas have been so controlling, including my father. The way my brothers used women, and then dropped them like manure, was so disgusting. I thought that my mate was just as much a womanizer as my brothers, and perhaps even worse. How do I know my mate will change? I wish life had guarantees"

Esmeralda -

"You realize life does not have any guarantees. You will never know whether you and your one true love will work out without even trying. The moon goddess knows what she is doing with you and your mate, you and your mate are perfect for each other. I have seen your one true love through my visions and how he is right now. It will do him some good to have some personality growth."

Clair -

I watch Esmeralda stand up from her chair and start walking to the stairwell that leads upstairs. She looks back at me and states,

Esmeralda -

"don't just sit there. Let's get your room, child."

Clair -

I know she says she can't read my mind, but I don't know. I haven't had to ask a single question to her; she answers my questions, like she can read my mind.

Esmeralda -

“As a side note, child, you do not need to color your hair. My magic hides who you really are. You can keep the hair you have by wearing it conservatively. As you chose Auburn hair, that is how you will appear, but your face will still look beautiful, however it will look slightly longer. You will appear taller. Also, take off those rogue clothes. My visions see you are coming. I have bought a whole wardrobe upstairs.

I will warn you now, as a precaution, the future king will show up soon. To protect yourself, wear gloves all the time. Even with people you think are not the future king if you can have a magic disguise. The future king may be magically hidden as well. The sparks from skin contact would give you away.”

Clair -

“Thank you, I am so indebted to you.”

Esmeralda -

“Tomorrow a lone Alpha will be interviewing your for a position at his company. I will leave you to shower and get out of those smelly clothes.”

Xander -

The tracker I hire is a human, but we have been working with him to perform work for us for several years. During this time, he tracks her to the closest gas station. She thought that she might hide her scent by pretending to be a rogue. Give her credit for being smart.

After asking the cashier where the nearest town is, he directs us up five miles, then left at that street, and we will see the town about a mile away. Strangely, I have a gut feeling she is in that town. I cannot explain it, I just have an instinct that she is there.

Clair -

It's the next day, and the sun is shining through the windows, glaring into my sleep-filled eyes. I growl and roll in the opposite direction of the sunlight. I can feel the sun's warmth on my backside.

My illusion is that I can fall back to sleep, however, the smell of bacon permeating the air and filling my nasal cavity with its sweet aroma keeps me awake. I get up like a zombie, don't even bother to take off my pajamas when I roll out of bed. Bacon doesn't want me to leave; it wants me to eat it.

Once I am downstairs, I offer my assistance to Esmeralda. As she looks down at me, she smiles and instructs me to set out the place settings for her and me. She asks me to put one extra place setting out on the table because we have a visitor coming.

Our food is served, orange juice is brought out, and we have honey buns as appetizers. Suddenly, there is a knock on the door. Assisting Esmeralda with the door, I go to answer it. After complying, I go to the door and hurriedly open it. An Alpha wolf greets me. Esmeralda shouts from the kitchen, "Come in, Jason, the breakfast is ready, and I would like you to meet Anne." I hear Esmeralda.

Jason looks over at me at that moment, I mean he really looks at me at that moment. I notice that his eyes scan my entire body at that moment. It is nice to meet you, Jason. By the way, my eyes are up here." I say with a smile. Before Jason could even give me a reply, I turn around and walk to my seat.

Everyone sits at the dining table to eat. Esmeralda is asking for him to hire me, explaining I am an expert in technology security. I think to myself how she does that, I never told her what I do.

Jason-

“Anne that is awesome, I could really use someone to help setup internet security with our users. Listen, I have some meetings I need to attend, if you don’t mind could I see you in an hour to discuss my plans for security multiple networks?”

Clair

“Jason, thank you. I would love to come and look at it.”

Jason -

“Great I will see you in an hour.”

Esmeralda -

I mind link Catherine (Clair’s wolf) “Catherine don’t worry, I have things in motion that your mate will accept you, and your companion.”

Catherine --

“Thank you Selene.”

Esmeralda -

“I heard your prayers my child, and I came to help.”

Clair -

In the meantime, I run upstairs and prepare to go to Jason's business. It is an exciting prospect to help in the office. I rush out of the house as soon as I am dressed.

Esmeralda puts out some fresh cups of tea, and she walks to the door anticipating her next guest. There is a knock at the door, and Esmeralda opens the door.

Esmeralda - “Welcome your Highness”
