Chapter 40
Elanor --
Everyone was staring at me; Colt wouldn't recognize me because he knew me as the illusion I made for the children as they were growing up. Truth be told he is only one year younger than I am. Colt is now 20 years old, and I am 21 years old.
He has grown to be a very sexy man. I cannot entertain the thought of being attracted to him, one-he has a mate out there and sadly it isn't me. Two- the only reason I am finding him sexy is because I haven't been around my kind in about 6-years. Colt has grown up to be drool worthy.
Three - my purpose is to protect the princess until she is old enough to fight for her kingdom (our kingdom) then I will be loyal and fight by her side.
Everyone is seated at the table except for me. Alpha Cameron has everyone quiet down, and he introduces me.
Alpha Cameron --
"I would like to introduce you to Elanor guardian to the princess. I will let her tell you who she is and her story.”
Elanor --
To say I am nervous is mildly putting it. I look around and smile, looking into everyone's eyes one at a time. As I have said before, Elves are a magical being, and I was checking out each person's aura through their eyes. Everyone seemed to be fined, I had nothing to fear.
I perch myself up on a chair in Elven style, my rear end sitting on the backs of my feet.
"First, this is just my own pet peeve. I am not a teenager! Elves age even slower than wolves do. I am 21 years old. Yes, when I started being a nanny for the princess, I was only fifteen years old. Many of you didn't even know Elves, Dragons, Fairies still existed. We are all magical beings and keep ourselves hidden in mountains and magical forests. The Child you know as Rose is Princess Akira, daughter of the Emerald King and Queen Dragon.”
Taking a breath, I knew I would talk for a while as I had to go through our history to explain why we were hiding the princess.
"This is going to be a long story, to explain why the princess ended up here. Many centuries ago, Dragons roamed the world freely and independently. Dragons did not run-in packs, they were individual to their family. Humans were afraid of what they did not understand and hunted dragons down and killed them in their caves, in their homes and parade the dragon skins around.
We then hid our packs with magic and shielded ourselves from harm. Among the Dragons, this was the first pack. Other dragons followed suit, the gold dragons, the red dragons, the blue dragons, and many others.
The last King of the Emerald pack passed over his eldest son in order to give his youngest son the title of King of the Emerald pack. In the eyes of the king, his eldest son had a dark soul and would end up being a traitor to his own kind.
There had already been a prophecy about that son, given to the Elven seer by the Goddess Terra. Do not become fooled by the peace we currently enjoy, for there will come a time when the Green Dragon, with the dark heart will kill many and try to kill anyone who is not a dragon. He will command his own rogue army.
The only being that could stop him is the Elven princess that has a tattoo like an Emerald Crown, her ears are like elves. Her magic will be strong and she and only she can slay the dark-hearted dragon. One last part of the prophecy, she will be mated to the strongest prince of the dragon kingdom.
Dragon rogues and wolf rogues make up the army of this evil dragon, and many of the red dragons in his kingdom are loyal to him. Akira's birth was hard for the queen because she was worried about the war outside and all around us. When the baby was born, I tried to get the queen to get up and take her and the baby away from the fighting, but she didn't even have the energy to stand. As a promise, she made me leave her and take care of the princess.
I carried the baby safely through the trees by wrapping her in a front sack and carrying her in it. During my last minutes before I left, I made sure that an invisibility shield protected the Queen, at least until she healed. Just as I was about to leave the border, I heard my sister screaming.
That is when I put the baby in the bush next to the road. I forgot to use spells to protect her from harm. I ran until I killed the dragon rogue, which was attacking my sister. I returned to the baby and found her gone from the bushes I had hidden her in.
It took me six months to find her again, that is when I compelled Alpha Josh and Luna Rosie to hire me as their nanny. I made the illusion I was older and carried the smell of a she-wolf. I have been raising her about her kind since I became her nanny; she knows who she is and what species she is and to keep it a secret at all costs.
When the pack got attacked, I was away for the weekend and came back in time to make myself invisible and aboard the helicopter with Colt. I have been watching everyone since then, hiding in my invisibility cloak.
When the blood work came back and everyone figured out she was a dragon, and was going to contact the dragons, I knew I had to take a chance and let you know who she is. I still believe her hiding amongst the wolves keeps her safe. Are there questions?”
Suddenly, the room was deathly silent, and some were unsure of what to think. Others wondered if any of this was true, some were afraid this would bring their war here. Others, however, were compassionate and willing to serve.
As he stood up, the king gazed at the small Elven protector with a smile on his face. "My dear, we will keep this a secret; however, it will take a couple of days for us to figure out the best way to assist you."
Elanor -
I smiled and nodded my head. "That is all I can ask your highness.”
Everyone mingled in the room, knowing they cannot discuss this out of the safe room. Colt was walking around mingling with everyone when he smelled the most beautiful bouquet of peonies. Yet there weren't any flowers in the room. He sniffed the air being compelled to find that scent.
He noticed another she-wolf doing the same thing; she (Xantara) looked up, and they stopped, their eyes locked. Both realized they had found their mate at this point. Colt was happy and moved towards Xantara, but he did not get the same reaction from Xantara, who shouted, “He—no!!” she shouted, turning, and running from the room.
