Evelyn’s Anger
“Only in the eyes of love, you can find infinity.” - Sorin Cerin

My breaths were coming out in gasps as I struggled to send oxygen towards my lungs. The nervousness was eating me alive, I've to stop and take a deep breath before looking at the little boy in Xavier's arms.
"I miss you, Daddy." The little kid said, my eyes going from Xavier to the kid in front of me.
Rather than looking at his son, Xavier was looking at my frozen state as he was trying to decipher my feelings.
He has a son? Impossible! Or maybe….
"Daddy!" The kid whined, breaking our trance as he followed his dad's eyesight to look at me.
Beautiful, that's the only word to define him. He had an oval face, dark brown hairs complimenting his eyes.
His eyes! Those enchanting, alluring eyes reminded me of... mine. Exact replica of MY eyes, light browns with green specks.
Settling him down, Xavier tried to say, "Miss Williams, I think you should-" But I cut him off, showing my hand to cease his mouth when I was trying to solve the mystery here.
Abruptly closing his mouth, his hands on Kid's shoulder and they both seemed nervous. I walked towards them, kneeling to this little kid's level, I asked, "What's your name buddy?"
This adorable munchkin, tilted his head upwards to seek his father's permission for answering the question as Xavier nodded, he asked, "Full name?"
I chuckled at his reaction, saying, "Yes, kiddo."
"Oh… I'm Alexander Marcus Knight." He said, shaking my hand that I offered him before looking at his father again, who took a full deep breath. My eyes almost bulged out of their socket when he introduced himself.
He has a lot of explaining to do! Standing up from the ground and glaring at Xavier Knight.
Clearing his throat, he asked, "Savannah, we'll meet later."
"But-"
"I wouldn't repeat it again."
"Fine." She walked out of the office, purposely shoving my shoulder.
"Alex?" Xavier said, turning his son to face him while kneeling to his eye level.
"Yes, Daddy?"
I'm falling in love with his voice, not just the voice, I'm falling in love with every fiber of his being, with his existence.
"If you go with Maria to home right now, we'd have a pizza party tonight, now, will you?"
"And ice- cream?" His eyes twinkled while negotiating with his dad.
That was totally me in my childhood.
"Now, you're pushing your luck, buddy."
"Please, Daddy..." Alex said, stretching the last two letters while making an innocent face that you could never think of saying no to.
Xavier groaned and said, "Fine."
"Thanks, Daddy." Alex jumped to hug his father and both of them were now lying on the floor right now as a soft giggled escaped from my mouth.
If Xavier hadn't had any explanation to do, I'd have taken their picture then and there. But, I've to confirm my suspicion.
You can't lose your temper, Evelyn. Not right now.
Sending Alex home with his caretaker, Maria, as Alex waved his hand in goodbye to me while showing his gorgeous smile, I knew he had to be the one I was thinking of.
I made sure that Alex was out of our hearing range, well I know the walls were sound-proof but to make extra sure, I kept quiet until he was out of the corridor as Xavier sat on his chair behind his desk.
"Start talking?" I said, very calmly and politely.
"You can't order me, Miss Williams."
The nerve of this chauvinist, son of a billionaire!
"I'm not in the mood for your baseless comments. Start explaining, Mr. Knight." I gritted my teeth in anger.
"What makes you think, my comments are baseless, Miss Williams?"
That was more than enough for me to act calmly, "Are you bloody insane? Tell me!" I yelled as he stared at me impassively, as if my screeching never had any effect on him.
"Lose that tone of yours Miss Williams, otherwise you can consider yourself fired." His warning failed to have any effect on me.
I stomped my feet, muttering profanities under my breath. Glaring at his chiseled stone face which was void of any emotions and strode towards his desk. He arched his brows, giving me a challenging look. Leaning opposite, I approached him face to face. I could see each and every minute detail of his face clearly. A knot formed in my belly, making me arduous to think clearly. The atmosphere was churning me into claustrophobic.
"Why do you have to make it so complicated?" I yelled, slamming my fists against the wooden table hopping for extra effect. Little did I realize that it was going to hurt badly. I hissed, trying to ease the pain.
Xavier narrowed his eyes, those green orbs melting into mine with pure aggression. Staring at me for a split second before getting up and adjusting his suit, leaving me in my former position.
"I'm not making anything complicated, Miss Williams. You may leave-"
I don't know whether it was a part of me or just my hormones that made me pounce on that arrogant man. My hands clutched the hem of his collar tightly, I could feel smoke rising out of his ears due to deep vexation. I honestly couldn't care less.
"Leave, you want me to fucking leave after everything I saw minutes ago! You know this confrontation is important for me and yet you decide to torture me because I happened to betray you? I agree on ruining our relationship, our lives, I take everyone's blame on me! But, tell me the fucking truth about Alex?" I probably resembled a mad woman right now but as I said, I didn't seem to care less.
"Take your hands off my collar, Miss Williams!" Despite his nonchalant posture, I could decipher the molten lava waiting to spurt out.
"No. That's it! I'm not going to take your silence anymore. I need answers." I felt little compared to his six feet one inches build. All these days, I have tried to maintain peace with him in every situation but not today.
"Miss Williams, I'm repeating this for one last time. Take your hands off me or else you'll have to suffer the consequences!" He stated, gritting his teeth.
"Consequences? Yeah right! But news flash Mr. Knight, I've been facing the consequences for five years. Tell me why does your son look like an exact replica of my brother?!" Saying, I pushed him away from me. He stood still, his icy glare cold enough to freeze me.
"Why did you name him after my brother?" I pushed him on his chest once again.
"Is he really your son?" Another push.
"Evelyn, stop it, you damn woman!" He hollered, gripping both my hands in a tight grasp. I tried to wriggle my hands from his hold but his grip was hard.
"Who is he?!" That was enough to stimulate a reaction out of him.
Soon enough, I was pinned against the wall with his mighty form pressed up against my body. Several emotions passed across his face. I was nervous, anticipating knowing his next move.
