The clients
“Do you believe in magic?”
The ride was silent beside the soft song that had been played in the background. I noticed a stiff look on Aiden's face for the first time, when I looked intently, I saw dark circles under his eyes, and he looked tired.
Keeping my hand on his that had been resting on his lap, I asked, "What's the matter, Aiden?"
Looking at me, he squeezed my hand and looked more tired than usual. "I don't know Rose. You know our company is doing well, you saw how we reached the top in these five years. But I think I can never fulfill my father's expectations." He sighed, slumping his shoulders.
Aiden was one of those people who did everything on his own starting from the scratch. And I was proud of him for that.
Rubbing his shoulder to comfort him, "Aiden I trust you, as your partner, I know how hard you invest yourself in your events. You're running the best wedding planning company, soon Mr. Wellesley will recognize your work. Trust in yourself." I encouraged him with a smile. He looked into my eyes, smiled a little and nodded.
To ease the air around us, I asked, "So, who's this client?"
"Well, I don't know much, but they really begged us to manage their wedding. And as we didn't have any major events lined up, so I agreed." He shrugged his shoulders and I nodded.
By now we have reached our destination as Aiden parked the car at its usual spot and we got down from the car.
As we both entered the premises, Linda, the receptionist came running down the stairs as she informed, "Sir, they are here."
Removing his shades, "Okay, is everything ready?" Aiden asked and Linda nodded.
"Awesome, shall we Rose?" Asked Aiden, turning towards me.
"Yes, wait-" I turned towards Linda and asked, "Linda, did you keep the theme file in the meeting room?"
Linda tried remembering as she then said, "I guess not, I'm sorry Rose." She looked slightly worried as I smiled at her.
"Don't worry, I'll take it on my way. You resume your duties." I said and she happily walked over her desk.
Turning towards Aiden, "I'll join you in a few minutes. Would that be okay with you?" I asked.
Shrugging his shoulders, "Yes, that would be fine. Don't be late." Said Aiden as he walked towards the meeting room.
When Aiden went to his cabin, I went to mine. When I reached the door, taking out the key, I unlocked my cabin. Switching on the lights, I walked towards my desk where I kept the file, reaching towards it, I saw my kids photo frame lying on the floor.
"These kids, god!" I groaned, picking up the frame. And when I looked at my kid's happy faces, my heart melted. Keeping the frame securely on my desk, I searched for the desired file.
After collecting the theme file from my cabin, I proceeded towards Aiden's cabin where we would be meeting our client.
I crossed a brown oak door with AIDEN WELLESLEY written over it. I opened the door and walked in with a wide smile.
There was a round table in the cabin, Aiden looked up from his file and smiled back at me. The clients didn't turn though.
Looking at their backs, there were three guys and a lady. Wow… that was a lot of people for this meeting.
"Took your time, huh?" Commented Aiden and apologized from my side to the clients.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. Let's get started." I answered.
That was the moment when four of them whipped their heads around so fast, as it made me wonder if they got any neck sprain.
My eyes found the hazel eyes of a man, he had dark circles under his eyes, but he did look like a man with power. Then my eyes shifted towards the lady and the man beside her, they looked a lot alike, might be siblings. And at last, my eyes shifted towards the most beautiful and warm forest greens, his eyes were familiar. I frowned in confusion, but the smile never left my face.
"Hello." I absent-mindedly waved and the huge file that I was carrying in my arms almost slipped, and the man with hazel eyes stood up immediately as he helped me readjust the file.
"Thank-" when I looked at him, his eyes glistened in tears. He cupped my cheeks as tears rolled down his eyes.
I don't why, but it hurt me when I saw him crying.
"Evelyn!" He sighed a breath of relief, joy, and embraced me.
Well, who is she?
